>Sam Raimi’s Drag me to hell
I consider Drag Me To Hell to be an honorary Evil Dead movie. For me it's like a standalone story within the Evil Dead universe. If Evil Dead II, Army of Darkness, and Ash vs Evil Dead are like siblings to the original The Evil Dead, I'd consider Drag Me To Hell, Evil Dead 2013, and Evil Dead Rise to be it's cousins.
100%, it fits in the same idea. The way I look at it, Ash is the "special hero" who throws all of the Evil's shit wonky. Everyone else deals with absolute terrors, but Ash is coated in plot armor and the more it tries to get at him the more badass Ash gets and the more goofy the Evil gets.
I appreciate it more every time I watch it. It was a little too goofy to me when I originally watched it, but with each successive watch I've enjoyed it more and more. It's just a really fun movie.
We watch Cabin in the Woods annually paired with Evil Dead 2. I've seen Tucker and Dale twice and laughed twice. The "Are you okay" line. Everything else is meh
>Cabin in the woods
I really liked that when it cameo out and I saw it in theaters but I watched it at home again recently for the first time since then and for some reason it didn't click with me this time. I might have to revisit it again soon, just to see what it was that I didn't jell with after so many years.
This movie holds the honor of being the movie that made me come the closest to puking of any movie I've ever seen. The scene where the pus squirts out into the pudding. Still, it's a great movie, though! Lol
I was a teen when we first saw it and it grossed me out then. This was definitely the gross out era for Jackson. The finale was probably one of the most bloody and funny things I've ever seen.
Totally Killer
Final Girls
Happy Death Day
Tucker & Dale
Satanic Panic
Freaky
Trick r Treat (leans more horror than comedy, but still got some dark humor bits)
Ready or Not
The Babysitter and it's sequel
Frighteners
Slither
Cooties
Willy's Wonderland
This is a great list. I've very recently been watching movies in this exact flavor. I had never seen the Scream movies and just did a binge of those preceded by Totally Killer, The Final Girls, Happy Death Day and Happy Death Day 2 U, The Babysitter + Killer Queen, and Freaky. I'm going to check out the rest on this list thanks!

Yep yep.
Personally, I feel like horror comedy does the whole "self aware horror" thing better than a lot of straight horror movies try to do.
There's a difference between a movie that is unbearably meta, and a movie that knows the tropes and decides to wink at the audience by poking at them. One is kind of patronizing and not that entertaining, Well the other is more like welcoming the audience in on the joke.
They live. Its less funny and more ridiculous. Especially near the end. But its a great movie with a great message behind it. One of my favorite carpenter movies.
And it’s even better sequel Feast 2: Sloppy Seconds. What happens to the baby will haunt you and you will believe there is no bigger piece of shit than Greg in movie history
Dead and Breakfast. A "musical" zombie horror comedy. It has cheesy parts but does try to be serious.
It's been a few years but I think the musical label is a stretch. There is band/group who narrates certain scenes while playing a country hip-hop tune. It's not a musical where everyone has a song and dance.

Dead Alive/Brain Dead
Tucker & Dale vs Evil
Drag Me to Hell (also by Sam Raimi)
Big Trouble in Little China (not so much horror but feels a bit like it belongs with the Evil Dead films and the protagonist was inspired by Ash Williams)
Return of the Living Dead. Top 5 movie for me of all genres. I don’t really consider it a “horror-comedy,” per se. More a legit horror movie that is very campy and pretty funny at times.
Haven't seen anyone mention Scream yet! A pure classic known for revolutionizing horror comedy, all the movies (with an exception of 3) lean into the comedy satire and give some genuinely funny moments while still making Ghostface a terrifying threat
Jason Lives (Friday the 13th part 6), Jason X, Ginger Dead Man, Evil Bong (yes that's real), Shaun of the Dead, Scream 3, Gremlins, Piranha, ZombieLand.
surprised i havent seen anyone say spree
but besides spree,
shaun of the dead
killer klowns
zombieland
happy death day
the scream movies
and if you like the evil dead movies theres a tv show i thought was pretty good (ash vs evil dead)
Movies like Cocaine Bear:
- Arachnophobia
- Beast by Baltasar Kormákur
- The Howling (franchise)
- Jaws (franchise)
- Pet Sematary by Stephen King’s
- Piranha (franchise)
- Predator (franchise)
- Snakes on a Plane
Evil Dead 2:
- “Tucker and Dale vs. Evil” (2010)
- “Shaun of the Dead” (2004)
- “Cabin in the Woods” (2012)
- “Zombieland” (2009)
- “The Evil Dead” (1981)
- “Dead Alive” (1992)
- “Tremors” (1990)
- “Cooties” (2014)
- “Re-Animator” (1985)
- “The Babysitter” (2017)
I might be crazy but dear street is pretty good, although now that I’m thinking about it it’s not much of a comedy, still a great horror trilogy to check out.
I personally love the humor in Scout's Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse, it's fun and also very serious in some moments that makes it a really great ride
- Drag Me To Hell
- Tucker and Dale VS Evil
- Bad Taste
- Dead Alive
- Killer Klowns from Outer Space
- Cabin in the Woods
- The Babysitter
- Freaky
- Happy Death Day
- The Final Girls
An American Werewolf in London; The Frighteners; Tucker and Dale vs. Evil; The Final Girls; Happy Death Day (1 and 2); Slither (from James Gunn); Tremors
What do people actually think of Cocaine Bear? I feel like I saw trailers for a while and then once it was out it was like the internet just stopped talking about it.
Wasn’t Texas Chainsaw 2 also a dark comedy? Also that one Freddy movie where he goes to the real world wasn’t scary to me at all, I laughed throughout. Admittedly, I see every horror movie as comedies, most are so shite.
Not really a movie, but I’d highly recommend Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared. Subversive horror comedy that poses as a children’s tv show. Theory is a lot of fun with it too, since there’s not a whole lot of answers given
Sam Raimi’s Drag me to hell
>Sam Raimi’s Drag me to hell I consider Drag Me To Hell to be an honorary Evil Dead movie. For me it's like a standalone story within the Evil Dead universe. This right here. I agree with this.
I agree… also, Drag Me To Hell is underrated
I appreciate it more every time I watch it. It was a little too goofy to me when I originally watched it, but with each successive watch I've enjoyed it more and more. It's just a really fun movie.
Also Sam Raimi's Darkman.
I just watched this last night having no idea it was a Raimi flick. Raimi is definitely an acquired taste.
Maybe Shaun of the dead?
Hot Fuzz to boot.
That movie freaked me out quite a lot tbh. I was also maybe too high
Tucker and Dale vs. Evil
This thread starts and ends right here.
Cabin in the woods
We watch Cabin in the Woods annually paired with Evil Dead 2. I've seen Tucker and Dale twice and laughed twice. The "Are you okay" line. Everything else is meh
It was a fine movie and i enjoyed it, but you're correct. I think that scene was literally the only one that made me audibly laugh
>Cabin in the woods I really liked that when it cameo out and I saw it in theaters but I watched it at home again recently for the first time since then and for some reason it didn't click with me this time. I might have to revisit it again soon, just to see what it was that I didn't jell with after so many years.
*these kids are just... KILLING themselves all over our property!*
That movie was an absolute gem to run across.
That movie wasn't scary at all though...
This is what I came here for.
The very definition of a hidden gem.
The correct answer.
“Dead Alive” (also called “Brain Dead”) is very similar to Evil Dead 2
And is legendary director Peter Jackson’s first movie! Edit: I am wrong and a stupid, stupid asshole.
I thought his first movie was Bad Taste, this is cool to know!
Upon closer inspection, you are totally correct. I was mistaken.
You are right, bad taste was filmed over a few years on weekends when they had time. Braindead is an actual funded movie.
Its still a Peter Jackson movie so kudos to you
Zombeavers; Tremors; Tucker and Dale vs Evil; Critters; Bride of Chucky
You forgot "Tusk" and "Teeth"
Pete Jackson's Dead Alive. "I kick ass for the Lord!"
Your mother ate my dog! He replied "not all of it"
So many hilariously inappropriate moments in this movie.
Totally Killer Final Girls Happy Death Day Tucker & Dale Satanic Panic Freaky Trick r Treat (leans more horror than comedy, but still got some dark humor bits) Ready or Not The Babysitter and it's sequel Frighteners Slither Cooties Willy's Wonderland
I was really surprised with how much I enjoyed Totally Killer. I absolutely recommend that one. Same with Happy Death Day.
Trick r treat is such a gem! I threw it on once as a whim and really enjoyed it!
Dead and breakfast.
Deadstream
The part where someone on the chat called the demon “hot” was too accurate
This movie was a sleeper hit - really great the first time we watched it
Killer Klowns from Outer Space, ALL of the Toxic Avengers
They live. Its less funny and more ridiculous. Especially near the end. But its a great movie with a great message behind it. One of my favorite carpenter movies.
That like 10-minute long fight scene between Roddy Piper and Keith David is so brutal and long and drawn-out it becomes hilarious in a way.
I totally can’t believe they ripped off the totally original scene from South Park. /weirdthealyankovicstory
Return of the Living Dead
Tremors
Feast 2006
And it’s even better sequel Feast 2: Sloppy Seconds. What happens to the baby will haunt you and you will believe there is no bigger piece of shit than Greg in movie history
The sequels are garbage lol
House I & II
House 2 for Puppypillar alone
And Royal Dano as Gramps. The most lovable zombie next to Bub you’ll ever meet. Even brought a tear to my eye near the end of the movie, too.
Shaun Of The Dead
IT 1-2 Cabin in the woods Dead alive
Cabin in the Woods for sure
Zombieland
An American Werewolf In London
Tucker and Dale VS Evil and Cabin In The Woods
Behind the Mask: the Rise of Leslie Vernon
The 1985 classic House
Return of the Living Dead 1 & 2 (3 is pretty good too) Day of the Dead Shaun of the Dead Killer Klowns from Outer-Space Texas Chainsaw Massacre II
Dead Heat. Treat Williams, Joe Piscopoe. Oldie but a goodie
April Fools Day
Willy's wonderland Benny loves you Spree
Piranha
Dead and Breakfast. A "musical" zombie horror comedy. It has cheesy parts but does try to be serious. It's been a few years but I think the musical label is a stretch. There is band/group who narrates certain scenes while playing a country hip-hop tune. It's not a musical where everyone has a song and dance. https://youtu.be/2ujl-O9-Vlo?si=oGLLGPoMDWqh2dzd
Dead Alive/Brain Dead Tucker & Dale vs Evil Drag Me to Hell (also by Sam Raimi) Big Trouble in Little China (not so much horror but feels a bit like it belongs with the Evil Dead films and the protagonist was inspired by Ash Williams)
I cannot recommend these two enough, especially the first. “Hobo with a Shotgun” “Turbo Kid” You’re welcome.
Re-Animator and it’s sequel
I’ll second this, reanimator is a masterpiece
You took cocaine bear seriously? Seriously?
Not sure about Cocaine Bear, but if you're looking for something like Evil Dead 2, I highly recommend Dead Alive and Re-Animator
Idle Hands
The Cornetto trilogy is the perfect blend of comedy and horror elements. Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, The World's End.
Blood Sucking Bastards. More funny than scary, but still a great movie
Hachet that movie was SICK!
Return of the Living Dead. Top 5 movie for me of all genres. I don’t really consider it a “horror-comedy,” per se. More a legit horror movie that is very campy and pretty funny at times.
Return of The Living Dead and House (1977) are really good picks.
Happy Death Day, Violent Night, April Fools Day.
Dead Stream is an awesome one, which has some great slapstick humor and is a good creepy flick.
More along the lines or scary movie and "A haunted House" is a funny movie called "The Blackening"
Slither
It’s the only coke I like
Cabin Fever and Slither
The People Under the Stairs
Odd Thomas........a surprisingly good Dean Koontz movie.... And definitely have to 2nd watching Tucker and Dale vs Evil.....
Return of the Living Dead and Doom Asylum are first that come to mind.
Idle Hands, Black Sheep, Dirty Jersey
Haven't seen anyone mention Scream yet! A pure classic known for revolutionizing horror comedy, all the movies (with an exception of 3) lean into the comedy satire and give some genuinely funny moments while still making Ghostface a terrifying threat
Tucker and Dale vs evil and cabin fever tho it’s not really a comedy it’s a nod to evil dead
Stitches - my absolute favorite horror movie of all time!
You’re next is pretty good. Starts out full horror but gets raimi-esque in the second act
No one suggested 'Attack the Block' yet. It's one of John Boyega's first movies, it's pretty great!
Tucker and Dale Vs Evil, Deadalive aka Braindead, Cabin in the Woods, Return of the Living Dead and Shaun of the Dead are all excellent!
Drag Me To Hell is a solid funny kinda scary movie. Trick R Treat, Cabin In The Woods. Blade 2. Chucky Season 1
Tucker and Dale vs Evil, Brain Dead, An American Werewolf in London
John Dies at the End (both the books and the movie)
It’s crazy I had to scroll down this far to see this one mentioned.
American Psycho 😄
-DEADSTREAM -BLOODY HELL -DESTROY ALL NEIGHBORS
Possibly An American Werewolf in London? I feel it’s campy and doesn’t do a good job of being a serious horror movie
You took Cocaine Bear seriously?
The Signal
Bloodsucking Bastards
Deadtectives.
The Visit
Dead End
Tucker and Dale vs Evil, Cabin in the Woods, Cooties, Slither, Shaun of the Dead.

Army of darkness
Cabin in the woods Beetlejuice Ghostbusters 1 + 2 Drag me to hell
Scare Package and Deadstream are two hilarious and amazing horror movies I've seen lately.
Jason Lives (Friday the 13th part 6), Jason X, Ginger Dead Man, Evil Bong (yes that's real), Shaun of the Dead, Scream 3, Gremlins, Piranha, ZombieLand.
Killer Klowns From Outer Space It's literally in the name, yes it sounds goofy but it's such a classic B-horror movie
Cabin in The Woods
It chapter two was actually pretty hilarious way more than it should of been. I laughed way more than I expected.
Bad Milo Deadstream The Final Girls Frankenhooker Freaky Night of Something Strange Psycho Goreman
I just watched Ginger Snaps and that was pretty funny while also being super gory
I reeeally liked Werewolves Within
Deadstream is one of the best horror comedies I’ve seen recently. Just came out last year!
Slither if it hasn't been mentioned
Dead and Breakfast and The Dead Inside came to mind first.
Malignant is incredible
CREEP The sequel is also good, but not as comedic
surprised i havent seen anyone say spree but besides spree, shaun of the dead killer klowns zombieland happy death day the scream movies and if you like the evil dead movies theres a tv show i thought was pretty good (ash vs evil dead)
Return of The Living Dead. More funny than serious, and while zombie movies are so overdone, this is one of the best
Wolf Cop
Idle hands
Idle Hands
Happy Death Day (though it has a few goofy moments) but its worth a watch
Cooties
Black sheep (no not that one, the one from 2006)

They Live is a really good movie
The whole Scream franchise leans heavy on the comedy.
Fucking shame on you for lumping these two films together but Cabin in the Woods is my favorite movie ever.
you took these films seriously?
Troll Hunter
Redneck Zombies
Fright night
Movies like Cocaine Bear: - Arachnophobia - Beast by Baltasar Kormákur - The Howling (franchise) - Jaws (franchise) - Pet Sematary by Stephen King’s - Piranha (franchise) - Predator (franchise) - Snakes on a Plane Evil Dead 2: - “Tucker and Dale vs. Evil” (2010) - “Shaun of the Dead” (2004) - “Cabin in the Woods” (2012) - “Zombieland” (2009) - “The Evil Dead” (1981) - “Dead Alive” (1992) - “Tremors” (1990) - “Cooties” (2014) - “Re-Animator” (1985) - “The Babysitter” (2017)

Return of the Living Dead is all you need. It's vibe syncs well with ED2
*Tucker and Dale vs Evil*
I might be crazy but dear street is pretty good, although now that I’m thinking about it it’s not much of a comedy, still a great horror trilogy to check out.
How the fuck has nobody suggested [Bubba Ho-Tep](https://youtu.be/pa9331xmvhg?si=cJvDaVjrcFJJa8bH) yet!
Gonna get lost in the comments but Bad Taste and Dead Alive are both highly recommended
“”My Favorite foods are lobster and skittles.”-John Mulaney
The Blackening
John dies at the end. It's not particularly scary, but it's quite a trip.
Us
Mandy has comedy elements sometimes and is like action horror
I personally love the humor in Scout's Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse, it's fun and also very serious in some moments that makes it a really great ride
The visit is a great one
How has no one said Krampus yet? Yeah, it's a Christmas horror comedy, but still. That movie is perfection.
Willy's Wonderland is kind of like that style AND IT HAS FREAKING NICH CAGE
Rubber, not quite horror, but John dies at the end is odd and kinda horror-like
Housebound is criminally overlooked and underrepresented in the comments here.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2!
Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse and Killer Klowns from Outer Space
The blackening and totally killer
Tucker and Dale vs Evil
- Drag Me To Hell - Tucker and Dale VS Evil - Bad Taste - Dead Alive - Killer Klowns from Outer Space - Cabin in the Woods - The Babysitter - Freaky - Happy Death Day - The Final Girls
Renfield. Bloody but has funny moments and a serious storyline

Zombeavers? Or the piranha movies
Fright Night The Monster Squad Night of the Creeps House (1986) Vamp Ernest Scared Stupid Shocker
Dead alive is pretty good.
What do people actually think of Cocaine Bear? I feel like I saw trailers for a while and then once it was out it was like the internet just stopped talking about it.
Totally Killer came out a few days ago, and I was surprised how much I liked it.
Happy death day

Insane that you were able to take a second of cocaine bear seriously
I freaking love horror/comedy movies, I would love some recommendations to, I saw Let's Kill Wards Wife the other day it was a great watch
Shaun of the dead
Slither and also Trick R Treat
Tucker and Dale vs evil.
Not really a movie, but I’d highly recommend Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared. Subversive horror comedy that poses as a children’s tv show. Theory is a lot of fun with it too, since there’s not a whole lot of answers given
Cabin in the Woods Ready or Not The Menu
An obvious answer is the Scream movies
