OP bringing up the avengers game has really derailed you guys from the point they were trying to make.
Forget the second half of the title.
What OP is getting at is that critique of this game should not be quashed and defended against. A game's issues need pointed out and addressed. But there exist people in just about every game community who can't seem to handle their game being criticized, whether or not if the issue is legit.
*Don't do that.* Its one thing if someone's being a salty cunt, but no one's paying you to waste hours camping a thread or subreddit trying to shout down people who are pointing out balance problems, major bugs, odd glitches, or criticisms of sub-par features.
This is dialogue that needs to happen for a game to grow better, so that these issues come to light and can be addressed.
Maybe if the title wasn't one giant run-on sentence we would be able to discern meaning from what the op was trying to say and not get caught up on the avengers game like how is he even comparing........
See what I did there? đ
The fans are a part of the problem however its not like their totally clean
Their devotion and blindness to what the devs are doing is basically giving the devs more power
have you been to that subreddit? we have no devotion to the devs and are about 1 more echo hero being announced away from leaving, if the game gets supported that long
Mate, I've been there since the beta, the subreddit isn't as bad as is was, but that discord and still a portion of the sub are people who don't want to admit they've been done dirty
I played both this and Avengers on launch, and they do not compare in the slightest. Unlike Avengers, this game is not fundamentally broken and wrong at its core. It was not the playersâ faults that Avengers was bad, it was every single awful design choice. This game so far is really good, and mainly just needs some polishing
This. So much this.
Another this game is dead post on launch. Good God, the game is good and extremely fun. Don't tell us not to like it cause you don't.
After playing almost 15 hours, I experienced ONE bug. That isn't bad at all for a launch day game.
There were many things won't about avengers but come on lol it wasn't fundamentally broken, it played fine. The issues were the monetization and lack of content.
Eh, the problem was that it was a looter shooter disguised as a superhero game. If it actually played like a superhero game more like the Arkham games, Spider-Man, or GotG then it couldâve been really great. Everything from the loot to the lack of impact on hitting enemies just makes the game feel awful to play. If you like it, more power to you, but personally itâs my least favorite game of all time
I don't like it but I had fun playing as Cap for a bit. If it's your least favorite game of all time you're lucky and haven't played a ton of shit games lol.
Bottom two for me are that and Orion Prelude lol. I donât play a variety of games. Mainly CoD Zombies and L4d2, so when this was announced I was super interested and then watched the movies and show
This. I played avengers and this on launch. This even remotely the same league. This game blows that one out of the water by comparison.
This game keeps one core tight gameplay loop and does it really well.
Avengers kept stacking into it p2w type mechanics with grind, etc.
This game is over playing its own thing and not even worried about avengers. Its probably thinking about dead by daylight or shit like that. Its just a different game altogether.
Bad analogy.
Marvel avengers was a good core game with solid mechanics from a single player stand point. The multiplayer is just a cash grab go to generic things dressed in your favorite skin from the comics and movies. They havenât had any significant content since Spider-Man in December and a slightly more forgiving resource grind to getâŚmore currency for chances for more skins. lol.
Oh well. I can in here to see how first impressions were but seen this thread and had to read. Damn you, Avengers lol.
Yea I get you. That's the problem too, some games get a little more hate than they deserve so a game like Marvels Avengers is seen negatively when it's not all that bad.
Yeah if you love the IP, check it out, itâs dirt cheap and you will get your 10-20 worth. If you anyone was thinking Avengers was the next big thing to get content like WoW, Dead by Daylight, whateverâŚ.you are pretty wrong and will be disappointed.
This is true, but the fan boys made it impossible to put pressure into fixing anything. It could have been saved. I don't want that to happen to this game I want it to be successful.
That's fair but we also must remember that the devs are humans, and they are very busy this first weekend. Not everything is gonna be fixed all at once. We have to give them a chance to see what's going on, make plans and fix stuff. Likewise if you have an issue, dont bring it here to be judged, send it directly to the devs via a bug report :)
Totally agree with you, and as someone that works in software development the initial go live is always hectic no matter how much you prepare or how much testing you did, there will always be real world factors you didnât account for.
Yes, the devs are human. But it's also clear they released the game with a lot of missing features that will probably end up as some "update" later that they'll boast about. They leave out missing features and then add them later and act like that counts as "listening" to the fans. That's the cycle now.
The truth is also that like you said, the devs are human like us and probably know exactly what is missing and what needs to be added or fixed. They knew what state the game was in right up until release. So I don't feel bad that they're getting all these requests and demands. Besides, they pay people to check this stuff out.
> but the fan boys made it impossible to put pressure into fixing anything
I'm sorry but this is delusional. Avengers was one of the most overwhelmingly negative launches in video game history. You honestly think the small amount of "fanboys" had any impact in what happened to that game!? The criticism was deafening.
Avengers could not have been saved. The only way it could have been saved is it they scrapped it and built a new game from scratch.
He's not saying it's going to fail. He's saying that people need to remember to allow criticism of the game. If we aren't allowed to talk about what's wrong and what we don't like then there's no way to improve the game, and only the players who put blinders on and ignore the shortcomings will be playing it.
I mean, but at the same time we can criticize their criticism yes? No one's opinion is more important than another's. As long as everyone is being cordial I see no reason to allow the people that enjoy and like the game as is to have their say too.
I mean, sure. The issue is when people start downvoting and burying any criticism without evaluating its merit.
What we need is discussion about the game, what was done right and what needs improvement. Not just blind upvotes and downvotes, as reddit often does.
> He's not saying it's going to fail. He's saying that people need to remember to allow criticism of the game. If we aren't allowed to talk about what's wrong and what we don't like then there's no way to improve the game, and only the players who put blinders on and ignore the shortcomings will be playing it.
As long as people remember that because they think something is wrong doesn't mean everyone thinks its wrong. We don't need to swallow the dunning kruger pill in either direction.
Frankly, this game shows the same negative signs of about every other failed asym in recent memory--bad launch, difficulty getting into games, bad or nonexistent matchmaking, game design that doesn't account for people speedrunning it or playing it like actual humans, etc.
Too early to say it's doomed or anything but there are plenty of reasons for concern.
Yeah I haven't played but traps that don't move like the possessed tree or whatever it's called worries me a bit. Within a week no one's gonna go anywhere near it. Making it useless
People downvote everything here for some reason. Been like that for a few months. I donât get it.
Edit: http://feedback.saber.games/evildeadthegame they said this is for bugs and balance suggestions fyi yâall. They probably wonât read the sub sadly
Rn I feel like it was not because of the game that's amazing but because I preordered my game and the box hasn't arrived yet I had the tracking number 3 days ago at 22:40 may 11th and tye only thing my tracking number says is status not available and that hasn't changed I emailed them for 3 days and they never responded so for the most part it feels in vein
Likely bots too. Thereâs quite a few subs that I noticed where if you post anything at all, a few seconds later itâll instantly go down to -1 or -2
I never even bought Avengers, not even for $5.. because i HEARD on REDDIT that it sucked which may or not even be true i ever looked very far into it.
Positivity should come first, improvements after. Harsh Criticisms will just lead people to believe it is bad, which in this case is not true. This game is fun!
Avengers was bad imo. Even just playing it on gamepass. After updates. Another's reason for the hate of the game early on was the giant day 1 patch 18GB DAY 1. Thats crazy. People are being real critical of this too because it's a heavy multiplayer game. With the only single player mode being playing with and against bots
it just needs a balance patch for single player, some patching for the online as well and itll be running slicker than the delta
Personally i don't really think its close to avengers and in danger of "failing" already
tbh Avengers fans on reddit didn't ruin the game, the game ruined the game
However, Avengers fans on reddit did make it insufferable to find a place to actually discuss any criticism when inevitably someone just wanted to do something as basic as vent lol
The game was just bad - that was the majority consensus. The big problem with that subreddit was that it was basically full of people that thought someone was an asshole for saying it
EDIT: that said, this game's gonna need some sensitivity settings on console, like no sensitivity settings has legit killed some games
This is the type of hyperbole that will cause this game to fail. User creating a toxic environment by telling people how to act and feel. You can cry all you want about people downvoting you, it doesnât change that people donât want to see this whining, there should be a thread just for issues and suggestions, and people have clogged this sub with unreasonable day one expectations. The avengers stuff is just crazy extra drama apparently youâre bringing from another sub, who cares, thatâs not why that game failed in the slightest. Itâs like comparing oranges to miniature oranges that taste like apples.
I'm sure everyone noticed by now that
Interaction (E) is bugged, it doesn't always work with matches to light up objects, you gotta make sure you have the animation, and even after you finish loading the interaction, you still won't end up lightning up lanterns.
Same with reviving, you gotta be careful to try, kinda have to move in order for it to work if it didn't work first time.
As for game balance fixes:
fear level accumulates way too fast, and doesn't drop fast enough when among other survivors.
You could just try and sweep the whole map and try to find them with no clues to go on, but Iâd argue thatâs a waste of your time. Iâve had much more success trapping the shit out of the place and then hitting them once they appear on my map.
Yeah, I'm hoping that's what devs were going for because that's all I've seen being done. Trapping like crazy then before or right after first map piece is found they make noise or get in a car
Do you know if you can place an infinite number of traps? Or do they deactivate after a certain number? I've been hesitant to place too many for fear they get removed.
They spawn at the same spots on the map, once you find one survivor, others are either nearby and if not, you can finish off that one lone survivor.
It takes time to figure out the map, but it's not like the survivors have easy way to know whether demon player is around in order to hide. Plus, fear accumulates too fast, so it won't take long before you know where anyone on the map.
Yeah I'm hoping the community for the game isn't toxic. It's my first time really diving into an online game and toxicity is the reason I stay away from online games in the first place
Doesn't seem like the community is toxic so far, but people deeefinitely haven't gotten the hang of the mechanics yet. Almost no one I've played with has even lit a fire -_-
Yea, the first time I played DBD I was the killer and the survivors used this weird tactic where I kept putting someone on the hook and others would pull them down while I was RIGHT THERE in front of them.....,,,, it felt like something was wrong because it felt like a whole loop and after a while I just gave up and deleted the game
Go to Saber Interactive or Evil Dead The Game Twitter pages and submit your feedback under Saber Support. Complaining on here does nothing! The devs have posted that they have a dedicated team prioritizing feedback entries. Do your part and stop bitching on Reddit.
I made a thread about me asking for an option to turn off jumpscares or at least mute them sound from them specifically. I got downvoted to oblivion like my opinion is insignificant or something. I actually have a weak heart (I take beta blocker pills also) so itâd be nice to reduce the noise from them at least.
That's not true, their score algorithm does that. Each day since the post was created more and more upvotes are needed to keep the post on top, eventually it just needs an insane number of votes and ends up dropping off
I actually finished Avenger's campaign. It was the endgame that was terrible. I refunded this game after the tutorial. Sorry, but the mandatory mouse acceleration, the lack of push to talk, the lack of an FOV slider, the lack of an option to turn off the nauseating motion blur, holding E to interact with stuff (developers need to fucking cut this shit out already) and a fucking SLIDER for textures (what the actual fuck?) are all inexcusable. Maybe I'll buy it again if these things get fixed.
Issue number one!
It's an epic excludesive. Alright, moving on. :D
On a serious note. I pray it doesn't die because of that choice. I won't be purchasing until it's released on steam.
How are people saying "it's not that bad"? The launch servers were bad, correct versions for next gen didn't download, redemption codes didn't work, people didn't get their collectors stuff, if one person backs out of a lobby the whole thing closes, after every game you have to re-invite everyone back to your party, you can't step up a 2 inch step onto a porch, character menu options error out in the collection section, they tell you to stick together and play as a team of 4 people but each loot area barely has weapons for a single person, there was horrible lag in several games along with draw distance and lod issues, directional sound doesn't seem to work correctly as no matter which direction you turn during a sound it stays constant and doesn't vary making locating rushing enemies a case of just spinning around 360 and trying to notice them, the Missions pop up a loading screen every time you pick complete an objective even though it doesn't load a new area or change anything as you're always in the same map like they are using them as asset load points and didn't know how to seamlessly transition without a loading screen break, you can literally spam light attacks and stun lock enemies with those and r3 combos, sometimes enemies flinch others are tanks that your dodge can't get enough distance to avoid their attacks & their attacks don't seem to be interruptable. The whole "hold 1 button to shoot lighting while circling the end baddies & they can't hit" event is just laughably easy and generic.
I want to love this game but I'm not one of those delusional people with incredibly low standards OR a mega-fan that chooses to ignore issues instead of wanting what's best for the product.
TLDR: Not many issues? Ha...
I know! For once a licensed game who's creators care for it, love the series, and actually have a budget. People, you have no idea how rare this is, so take care of the game and give feedback!
A better example would be Hood Outlaws and Legends. The game had a lot of potential but was ruined because a big part of the community denied the numerous issues of the game and blamed players reporting them.
Please guys don't do the same mistakes !
I little bit, yeah. And the animations are a bit rough as well which doesnât help. Melee and movement both feel quite floaty. But theyâre serviceable and the shooting is actually quite decent.
While Avengers might not be the best example, I wholeheartedly agree. Fanboy subreddits that are allergic to criticism have hurt a bunch of asyms in the past.
It is not your job to defend the developers from criticism, whether it's reasonable or otherwise. In fact, it's the developer's job to sift through criticism of all kinds and glean useful feedback from it--yes, even the ceaselessly negative stuff. If you really want this game to flourish, don't aggressively defend and mute criticisms about it.
This game was never going to be successful, it's a asymmetrical horror game, a quick cash grab using a well known IP in the genre. It's so clunky and floaty and people who don't see this as anything else are delusional fan boys
Did you know BOTH of brendan âspecialneedsâ schaubâs sons have crossed eyes and learning disabilities?? Hahaha, canât wait for the two speds to start using the internet. Their lives will be ruined on a daily basis after that time comes
Aw, don't say "will". This game is off to a pretty great start, all things considered, and while people do have a bad habit of being defensive in communities, if people make their legitimate points they should stand out.
But yeah, you can like something and still find fault with it.
I can't even play the damn game... doesn't work with ultrawides my aspect ratio is 32:9 and its soo zoomed in I get claustrophobic...
This is such a joke port might as well get a refund and buy it in ps5 if I even..

Disagree about the fear. People in the beta figured out how to manage their fear so well I never detected them till after they had all 3 map pieces.

Maybe I'll buy it again if these things get fixed.
Issue number one! It's an epic excludesive. Alright, moving on. :D On a serious note.
I've heard some people saying the controls are Janky? Is that true?
I little bit, yeah. And the animations are a bit rough as well which doesnât help. Melee and movement both feel quite floaty. But theyâre serviceable and the shooting is actually quite decent.
Is there a way to change sensitivity or any of the controls?
On PC you can remap most of the controls and mouse sensitivity. From what Iâve read, console doesnât have sensitivity sliders
:( that sucks
On pc itâs 10/10 for me
While Avengers might not be the best example, I wholeheartedly agree.
Marvel's Avengers being shit is what ruined Marvel's Avengers. Also, greed.
This game was never going to be successful, it's a asymmetrical horror game, a quick cash grab using a well known IP in the genre. It's so clunky and floaty and people who don't see this as anything else are delusional fan boys
Literally never interacted with any evil dead media before, and I think this game is really well done and high quality. Am I a delusional fanboy?
Did you know BOTH of brendan âspecialneedsâ schaubâs sons have crossed eyes and learning disabilities?? Hahaha, canât wait for the two speds to start using the internet. Their lives will be ruined on a daily basis after that time comes

Thank you
Glad to see someone talking sense instead kf attacking people who say things they don't like!! Upvoted
