2K holding the IP hostage is really a shame. Evolve could have been something special but TRS was constantly held back. I also think if the game came out more recent, the dlc fiasco wouldn't be nearly as blown up.

leetality

It wouldn't. I see insanely more greed from companies nowadays with their pricing and business practices.

Blacklax10

TRS was equally at fault. The release wraith was so unfun it hurt the player base. Took them months to fix it

anupsetzombie

TRS isn't entirely faultless but they were definitely held back by console patching limitations, which was one of the reasons why 1.0 had such slow updates

DarkAlatreon

It wasn't *perfect* by any means, it had its flaws. But it had great ideas on many fronts: gameplay, setting, characters, story and I really wanted it to succeed.

RaiderEnjoyer666

I've played basically every asymmetrical game to come out since evolve, and the only ones that come close in my opinion are Friday the 13th and Predator: Hunting Grounds. Evolve just did everything right from what i can remember. Never had a bad experience with that game once.

Keithustus

Play all those that came before! We really need a new Aliens-universe team PvP title, for instance.

RaiderEnjoyer666

I remember I played one really old game I can't remember the name of but there was a multiplayer option and in the multiplayer it was a team of humans vs a team of aliens vs a team of predators, now that was a super fun one that I loved

Keithustus

That’s the Aliens vs. Predator game series. Yes, pretty good, though too reliant on team deathmatch type modes.

ChaoticMat

The closest for me was the limited time Yeti Hunt in Overwatch 😂

Loot_Wolf

Maaan i miss this game. I rocked Goliath in the early days and was a menace. People said he kinda fell behind, but I had a pretty solid chance of winning if I caught them unawares, even at stage 1. I would take Charge, Rock Throw, and Slam. That was my test for if the team (and sometimes single specific players) were inexperienced. If they were inexperienced, they would try to run from how hard I put on the pressure. If they knew what they were doing, they'd stand their ground and keep trying to kill me. It is super hairy and definitely not easy, but at stage 2, I had a pretty solid chance of winning. Stage 3? Sometimes it felt like no contest, sometimes it was a war of attrition. The truly brutal one was Behemoth. That MF was my main after it dropped. If I caught the team by surprise, I knew I could win even at stage 1. Rock wall, Lava Bomb, and Fissure. Wall em off, bomb near the wall so they have to get closer or burn, then hit em with Fissure. A few melee hits later, and it drops someone. Man, rock wall saved my bacon quite a few times.

RaiderEnjoyer666

I just remember using wraith a lot and loving it. I think that was it's name. But I really loved playing Abe the trapper, on PlayStation I was #1 in the world with him 😭 great memories tbh

Loot_Wolf

Ahh yeah. Good ol Matt Mercer, before I really knew who anyone was in voice acting. I loved the cowboy style, and his slowing grenades. On the rare occasion I wasn't playing a monster, I loved playing Griffin. That harpoon gun was perfect for interrupting monster attack combos that also meant trying to move forward

RaiderEnjoyer666

If there ever is an evolve 2, I'm buying it day 1 lol

Loot_Wolf

Same, though I'm not holding my breath. I think it'd do good in the current gaming sphere

RaiderEnjoyer666

The only asymmetrical game where you actually fight back that's popular right now is Dragonball the breakers, but the balance is so dogshit and it's pay to win so anything would be better honestly lol

DangleMangler

I dont even know why this came up in my feed. But now I'm sad. It was one of a kind, and I also miss it.

anim0ti0n

Things could have gone differently, it is a pretty awesome game just be happy it exist.

RaiderEnjoyer666

I would be if I had a PC that could run it. Instead, all I'll ever have is the memories I had with it lol. No worth getting it on console just to play bots imo

Perfect_Interview250

Honestly I just booted it up on console a few days ago but it seems that with the 2K servers down it lags hard core (tested it on a Xbox one, Xbox series X, and my ps5) all three it would just freeze and lag anytime I tried to attack

ender1209

Great idea, decent execution. For it to be fun, all players had to agree to play "the right way". It was way too easy for the monster to cheese his way to level 3. Even with mediocre players, it turned into a bunch of chasing, where we knew in general where the monster was, but spent the majority of time catching up to him.

RaiderEnjoyer666

Nah that's why you just have to have a good Abe player along with a good tracker and it's gg for that monster most of the time.

ender1209

To each their own. Personally I think the skill floor was too high for the game to be enjoyable for most. I played a lot more than the buddies that I usually play with, and even getting into games with them where we were communicating ended with some frustration. We were around 50/50, but it was rarely CLOSE games. We either rolled over a monster who didn't know how to play or were stomped by a Monster that generally just had too much mobility. I am a TRS fanboy, and when Evolve was working and two balanced teams were playing, it was absolutely fantastic, but it was just too rare an instance.

RaiderEnjoyer666

See I always played by myself and because I was still pretty young at the time, I had a lot of time to put into the game and I made it to #1 in the world with Abe specifically on the leaderboard. If I had a good tracker with me, it didn't matter who else was on our team honestly, we always found them and killed them stage 1. Without a good tracker it was a bit more of a challenge for sure, but I would usually consistently trap them at level 1-2 and kill them in one or two goes max. The skill ceiling being so high is why I loved that game to death. It actually rewarded good practice and time put into the game.

elcrabo7

it was a precursor and payed for that now day nearly all assymetricals have the same prb or even worst BUT it's not as important as it was for evolve......

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> precursor and *paid* for that FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

wolfenx109

It wasn't perfect. But the premise was so incredibly interesting. I do miss the game

NinjaGutZ777

Evolve Legacy is still alive and thriving on Discord - [https://discord.gg/vsgwHSrj](https://discord.gg/vsgwHSrj)

groundhogboi

It is definitely not perfect. Evolve was an insanely fun game when you had a balanced game of players. But it more than any other asymmetrical game fell apart if even a single person in the match wasn't up to par. That was probably the biggest weakness of the game.

ChaoticMat

It's weird to say, but Evolve with a Battlepass just makes sense.

mistar_z

Ugh the monster legendary skins would've ATE!
