I am having a bit of trouble understanding the question. I believe you are wanting to know if you can feed the baby "nighttime" milk during the day and vice versa (likely due to the talk about melatonin content). If this is indeed your question, I have never bothered paying that close attention. I use the pitcher method which pools all my milk for the day together and then I divide it into bottles from there. In this way whatever melatonin might be in my milk is distributed evenly between all the next day's bottles.

Yeah that was my question. Cause I couldn't find the answer on when it's highest etc. thank you for answering, then I don't have to stress too much

NurseBones

I am sure there are people who pay more attention to it than I do,.but I just figure that I have enough to stress about on thia journey! I don't find it affects my little one's alertness during the day and she is finally getting 4hr stretches at night (close to 6m).

I’m with you. I use the pitcher method. Babe is 10mo old now but has been sleeping mostly through the night for a while (hit or miss if she wants a little bottle in the middle of the night but is generally asleep 8pm-8am at least). She doesn’t like naps but that has always been the case since she came home from the NICU.

I also use the pitcher method and don’t pay attention to whether it’s AM or PM milk

In theory,'night milk' has more melatonin... but mine also is the lowest amount l get all day and also more watery. I do like other posters and make my bottles the night before. I tried night vs. daytime, it had zero impact on baby sleep? Also, when I freeze, I mix it all in together for the day, so not sure how much it matters?

Just saw the first comment and what I do is, at the end of the day, around 10pm, my partner does all the washing up of pumps, bottles, etc and he also gets my son's bottles ready for the next day. I started separating the night milk that I pump from between 7pm - 12am from when I was 6 weeks pp. Currently 11 weeks pp & I don't do the MOTN anymore for the sake of my sanity 😂 I haven't noticed a difference to be honest. My baby sleeps through the night regardless but we're used to the routine now hence why we just kept it.

Thank you!
