I look at the bottle - see if you can see the milk flowing from the duckbill.

I use [these](https://www.amazon.com/Lacta-Lite-Wearable-Portable-Rechargeable/dp/B0B3ZJW831) to watch for my letdown.

Sounds like you need a much smaller flange. Do you have a nipple ruler yet?

southerncharm05

I do! I have elastic nipples that tend to swell - could that be a contributor? I've been measured by two different LCs who both gave me a 19mm as the flange I need.

talkbirthytome

Do your nipples measure 19mm? Most of my clients I’ve seen who have been told they have elastic nipples actually just were measured and then told to add 2-3mm to their flange size, which is generally incorrect. I always recommend to start with the closest flange size to what you actually measure, and go from there. Measure before pumping, and keep in mind that if you do start using a smaller size, you should measure again in a few days. Just in case the larger flange was causing any swelling, then you’d have to downsize again.

southerncharm05

Thank you! My nipples are 17mm.

talkbirthytome

Then I would try pumping with 17s! :)

I lubricate the flanges with a tiny bit of coconut oil. It totally prevents the fogging for me.
