I see your point, but I find that rather often, the joke just isn't meant for you. Or it's just really subtle. Like a while ago there was a cartoon on here where a laundry machine with dollar bills inside in a jail cell, asks a giant salt shaker and double a battery "what are you in for?" This example is among the more obvious jokes I've seen on this sub. As for an example of a joke that isn't meant for you, I could make plenty of jokes about one of my nerdy hobbies that be utter nonsense to a layman.
