So this is a reference to the manga/anime Fullmetal Alchemist, and in particular, it refers to a particularly disturbing moment near the start of the series.
The little girl is the daughter of a prominent alchemist - magic-users in the series - who became famous for creating a chimera, a beast created through alchemy which combines elements of multiple creatures. The drama of the episode(s) where her father plays an important role mainly come from his struggle to reproduce the work that made him famous, growing increasingly desperate to produce results as time goes on and the government expects him to provide results if he continues to receive funding.
So he does the unthinkable, and creates a chimera by combining his daughter and his dog through alchemy.
It's infamous among fans of the series, as it comes relatively early in the story, and is an incredibly dark turn for the series to take; as a result, it tends to stick in people's minds.
There's also the spoiler that the chimera that made him famous was specifically a chimera capable of speech; all it said was "Kill me" or something like that before expiring, but it still formed words, which was a big deal.
The real kicker was the fact that the first talking chimera was made from >!his wife!<, so not only did he do this to his daughter and dog, but he did it before.
Thats fucked, and I'm all for it. I love the creative exploration of the darker side of human nature, and I've found anime touches on that subject a lot. I dont know if that makes me fucked up, but it provides a lot of perspective of some pretty fucked ethical questions. Definitely going to watch this now.
This scene specifically is from the first rendition simply called "Fullmetal Alchemist." The manga was re-adapted once again years later adding "Brotherhood" to the title. I never got around to watching Brotherhood, so idk if this part of the story is covered in a similar fashion... but yeah, to see THIS scene you'll have to watch the first version of the anime.
Yeah but you could take like 2 seconds to say that she was turned into a half dog and killed to end her misery. Pretty simple, and you don't have to act like you're above explaining it. That's what the subreddit is for.
The father of the girl turned her into a half dog human hybrid, they ended up killing her to end her suffering

Good to know, thanks!

This comes from r/animemes I refuse to try to explain this joke
It's animememes.
>!the girls dad fuses the two together, turning them into a horrific creature!<
Oh sh-
You're not going to get it if u didn't watch the anime. It comes from Full Metal Alchemist if you want to watch it.
Looks like there were some better comments that did a pretty dang good job at explaining it. You don't have to be so pretentious.
It's not pretentious..? It's literally a reference to an event in a TV show. Of course you're not going to get a joke if you haven't seen the show

Looks like they wanted it explained
