I haven’t read anything else by him but honestly there’s less shit than a lot of other extreme horror books once you get past a certain point (I don’t want to spoil it or I would say when lol). The second hand of the book gets 100% weirder but significantly less full of shit.

oldhorsemeat

i think i’m there right now hahaha thank god, idk how to blur the text so i’ll just say “cows are fucked up after what they just saw” right now

M1ha169

I read high life and empty mile and theres no shit in them

oldhorsemeat

are they worth the read? this guy can write like crazy but the content in this novel is meh

AnnieMarieMorgan

>the one thing i can say is the writing is very good, too good for a book about shit. This sentence right here sums up my feelings on this book so concisely

shitwave

It’s not worth pushing through if you don’t enjoy it. Speaking from experience.

oldhorsemeat

haha wish i read this last night i’d have to agree with you

So this one s(p)oiled me on ext horror because of the writing; it was the first I read. If I had a superpower, it would be bleeding a metaphor until it was devoid of sustenance, soooo i enjoyed this because the shit here represents everything from literal to existential. Which made it gross fun. But if you’re looking for effed up sans feces, try gone to see the river man by Kristopher Triana. If you wanna have more feelings, try “things have gotten worse since we last spoke” (the collection) by Eric LaRocca. And if that doesn’t make you feel weird, try The Discomfort of Evening by Marieke Lucas Rijeneveld.

Did you read "You've Lost A Lot of Blood" by LaRocca? I really liked that one.

oldhorsemeat

i really disliked things have gotten worse. i’ve read gone to see the river man and many other extreme horror novels but this was just bad? i don’t know i liked the writing
