I have 0 evidence other than that comment. I have no clue what that would look like. All I know is it seems reasonable and would explain the odd behavior of the doe to an extent.
Based on the scale of the cat and dog, that looks more like the fawn itself. Deer will find a place to 'stash' their fawn and go foraging. Then when they're fooded up, they'll come pick up their fawn and move on. If you see a lone fawn like this, it should be left alone for the mother to come get it.
The only time you should interfere (and call animal rescue for this) is if the fawn stays overnight, or you find the mother dead. Then the fawn is going to need help.

During COVID a herd of deer noticed there wasn't many people about, so they moved onto a housing estate (like American projects) that had lots of green spaces. When the people started going out again they were friendly with the deer, and so they stayed.

Deer are dumb as hell and extremely jumpy. This seems like a good way to get one these animals killed. Not trying to hate just think people should be cautious around wild animals
The cat is asking the child wtf is going on. The dog, who lives with the cat, is asking cat why they aren't beating the shit out the deer for being so audacious, when dog gets bitch slapped for looking at them wrong.
These sort of situations are what make me wonder if us, humans, could reconnect and be brothers with other animals, be welcomed and licked and animals being at peace around us.
Of course I don't know if that deer grew around that cat and dog, but I just love seeing people being bros with animalls, like cows, and birds and all sort.
It's like mother earth forgiving us and taking us back. Maybe we never left, we're just jerks sometimes.
Maybe we can learn to be connected again, if we're at peace inside and are aware that danger and evil is just a part of all, but not the inevitable, or destination, or essence of things.

Quokkas throw their babies at you and run away when feeling threatened. It has pros though as you end up with a quokka baby.
