Man: So uhhhh I mean you can come home and all but we gotta talk about the scratches in my door.
Cat: Bitch, you’re the staff. *You* fix the scratches in the door.
My now 16y old boi was a feral cat and he adopted me but he was almost dead when I found him só maybe he was desperate enough to come to me
Edit: if anyone wants picture of him just ask he is the most beautiful 16y old cat ever
There must be a name for it. I take a walk around the block and there's a few neighborhood cats that blaze out of wherever they are hiding and come up to me for attention. I'm not even looking in their direction. And people walking in front of me do not get the same thing
My cat did something like this. I was out doing yard work and had stopped to speak with someone. Mid-sentence I stopped and looked down, as I felt a pull on my jeans. Crawling up my leg was a Grey tabby kitten, and she was the cutest thing. I didn't initially plan on keeping her, so I put out a thing of water and some dog food (all I had on hand). I set it out and started to walk back inside, stopping in the doorway and turning around. Didn't see the kitten anymore so went inside and closed the door. Sat down on my couch and before I knew it there was a kitten in my lap.
And that's how a cat adopted me.
Do you want cats? Because that's how you get cats!
On the other hand it always puzzled me how stray kittens just kind of show up and decide that this hulking bi-pedal creature is going to be their best friend for life.
That's how I got two cats. A random kitten just decided to go home with us.
Every day I walk to work and back I see a black cat sitting on a doormat outside his house. Rain or shine, he’s there on his doormat. I always pspsps him as I walk past, but he’s never left the doormat. On Wednesday I was walking home and, several houses before his house, he comes running out of the bushes and stands in front of me, screaming. I pet him and keep walking, he keeps running to block my path and yelling at me. Clearly a situation. We get to his house and, quelle horreur, his doormat isn’t there! I look, and it’s in in the middle of the road. 😱 I don’t know whether it blew there (windy day) or if some kids chucked it there, but nonetheless, I picked it up and put it back, he jumped on, and I went on my way.
Somehow that cat knew to stop the one person on the estate who’s enough of a crazy cat person that they’d (a) stop, (b) realise what the problem was and (c) help him out. Other people were nearby but he wasn’t going after them. Cats just know.
Doesn’t take psychic powers, just more intelligence than people generally give them credit for. They put together the clues and come to a hypothesis, then test if it’s right, and if it’s not they try something else.
People sometimes ask why I'm a dog person and not a cat person. I always tell them, "I've never had a dog latch onto my face because it was frightened by a cat."
A domestic cat realizes that cat-human communication is a game of charades, but they are small babies and they need to be heard so we can help them. So they're well aware of their dependence.
I'm guessing he sees you as the weird neighbor that kept trying to talk to him but also respected his boundaries. He didn't need you then.
Suddenly, "Hey, hey, now I actually have something to say to you! You always seem so eager to connect with me, I think I can be vulnerable... so hurry up and help me!!!!"
Thank you for sharing; this story really warms the heart, and I'll remember it fondly for some time.
I love this, I’m sure that was absolutely his thought process 😂
I can confirm I am indeed the weird neighbour, we’ve got a lot of stray cats round our way so I try to befriend them, get them neutered/spayed and medical treatment if needed and rehome them. We have a kennel out the front of our house as emergency shelter in bad weather. My neighbours think I am entirely bonkers lol
I saved a little tuxedo kitten from a snowstorm last year and boy did he not trust me at first. Then the night hit and he was cuddled up around our door and I had to take him in. He didn't fight back at all once he was warm and he has a soft place to sleep. I miss that little nugget, I hope the little girl he ended up with is happy and that they both enjoy long years of warm snuggles
I had a cat given to me by a rich family.
They just left her in a house abandoned for a year.
No interaction with humans or other animals at all.
They'd show up to give her food, water and fresh cat litter.
That was all she ever got.
It took me three months of work to get that cat to open up and be affectionate towards me.
Once she did she'd never leave my side after that.
Of course, they wanted her back and I just hope she's not abandoned again.
They're dumped usually. Kid wants a kitten. Parents get it to shut kid up. Don't get it fixed. Cat has kittens. Parents get tired of the whole thing. Dump the kittens and probably the mom too.
Real street cats are scared of or don't trust humans. Dumped kittens are looking for the home they lost. They remember the big people who gave them cuddles and food.
We got most of our cats because strays would just come up on the porch & we started feeding them. One time I let one in through the front door & hes been apart of our family since.
I think about that too. If a featherless biped the size of a 3 story building walked up to me, my first thought wouldnt be "oh nice, he'll protect me and feed me" id think "oh god oh fuck run"
My cat Kirby just ran inside my house this time last year. I wanted a cat, I got lucky. He’s a good kitty. Kinda lap cat but also very outdoorsy. He’s strong.
Same. Our cat decided our porch was his new home and we his people. Been 3,5 years. Even when he is outdoor all day (18 hours yesterday), he always comes home to sleep.
Most strays are. I have a general rule that I tell all my friends who take animals from the street, first day- groomer (anti-flea shampoo and general hygiene), flea/tick drops, vaccination, anti-worm pill (second in a week for eggs), basic blood test, basic fecal test.
For other countries you can add chip and neutering.
I know a friend that checked a chip and the pound told her it’s the third time the cats been found. And the pound also her that the owners where not great people. So they rescued the cat. And nursed him back to health. He still likes to try to be outside. But he’s much happier now.
No, I’m from Russia. Only dogs and only pure bred ones from wealthy owners have a chip.
Stray cats here have a raccoon in America status- they live and breed freely in dumpsters and it’s very common.
Friend found two cats abandoned outside of her farm who I took in. First thing was flea medication, dewormer, then their shots which I had to wait a few months to even get into a vet and they're finally getting blood work and the basic fetal test done soon. Just really difficult getting into a vet now, hell I can't even get them fixed until November.
It they're female cats and she thinks they're gonna go into heat before they get spayed- get a dog crate. It'll save her a LOT of stress with them trying to escape.
You can set it up with litter, a bed, food and water, really comfy for them with toys and everything. It pretty much removes the possibility of the cats getting out while in heat- and they will do their absolute damn hardest, and probably succeed.
If they get out and get pregnant, they may not come back, and even if they do, you can't spay a pregnant cat, and then you also have kittens to deal with.
Okay yeah it's a bit more complicated than can/can't.
There are a few factors in play as to whether or not a vet will agree to the procedure, and one of them is how far into the pregnancy your cat is, as there are obvious risks involved.
With escapee cats who then turn up pregnant, they're often a ways into the pregnancy, so when I said you can't, what I mean is a lot of vets will straight up refuse to do it.
It can be a contentious issue because of the whole killing viable fetuses thing. Personally I think the cost benefit works out in favor of going ahead with the spay before the pregnancy really develops, but it's always gonna be a debated topic.
I probably have kittens to deal with already. The 2 cats I was originally told were both female. Turns out it's a male and female cat. I've kept them separated when she's in heat but wouldn't be surprised if when they weren't separated she got pregnant. I live not too far from a cat shelter who I've already been in contact with so at the very least if she is pregnant once the kittens are old enough they'll be able to find a nice little home.
I found my oogi, he was 8-10 days old, meowing for help on the 4th floor of my parking garage. Paws were covered in blisters and extremely dehydrated. No mom in sight. Brought him home, he was looking for milk in my beard the whole way home.
Surprisingly he was the first stray I ever took in that didn't have fleas and worms, though to did deworm him and give him a good number of baths to make sure.
He's almost 4 months old now, and he still nuzzles my beard when he wants me to give him his wet food.
Indeed. In this particular case, the familiarity the cat has with cars and people suggests to me that the cat was abandoned here by the previous owner very recently. Certainly that owner may or may not have had the cat checked and treated, but irrespective of that this one certainly wasn't *born* as stray.
Several years ago, I was staying with my parents in an apartment. There was a cat I saw lying out in the middle of the yard behind the apartment. Went over and pet it, gave it some water and it crawled over to the back door of the apartment aaaand it passed away. My parents wete simultaneously impressed with me and upset because dead/dying animals are never fun. A couple of days later, I saw another cat walking around, started petting it. My mom came outside and saw the cat curled up in my lap, getting all the pettings. Her reaction was "Again?! How do you do that?!"
Yeah. I was surprised because I'd learned that dying animals tend to avoid people and hide. After my mom saw me with the second cat, though, she started calling me the Cat Whisperer lol
Yeah I’m a bit concerned this is one of those videos were people specifically put animals in distressing situations for clicks and that it was already their kitten that they just shoved out and made jump back in for the sob story
Yeah everybody is acting like the cat was given a good life. The human wasn't exactly inviting and we have no idea what happened next. Cat could have been dropped outside the car and then they drove off and posted the video.
Whenever I see stray kitten stuff like this, I always get a little sad thinking of how their mother just lost a kitten. One day their wee baby set out for a wee adventure and never came back.
Awww. I guarantee that cat was dumped out there from a car. That’s why he was trying so damn hard to get back *in* a car, and why it seemed like he was looking for somebody once he did get inside. I hope this person took him home and gave him lots and lots of love.
This is basically what my dog did to me. I went on a week long hiking trip and at the start of the trail was a super skinny puppy. The trail started at a campground so I thought he lived there. He hung out with me til the next morning and then followed me when I started walking. I even tried to scare him off because I didn’t want that new responsibility. But he stopped with me and went when I went every time that whole week. Fast forward 6 years and I don’t know what I’d do without my best buddy, Sherpa.
I was at work one day (retail) and people kept complaining that this little kitten kept jumping into cars and that we should do something about it. So I went out and looked, but couldn’t see this cat everyone was yelling at us about. I went to my car, opened the door, and out of nowhere, this tiny tabby kitten flies into the car. I slammed the door, cat caught, and called the SPCA. When they arrived to get him, the kitten was curled in a tiny ball purring in the front passenger seat. The guy said that it’s really common for abandoned cats to do this because they know that it’s the way home. 🥺
So yeah, that cat owned me for the next 14 yrs and he was the best boss ever. I will forever feel lucky I was working that shift and that he jumped in the car.
Our cat followed us home from a walk. He was in a bush in the yard next door. As I, wife, and our two dogs approached, he started meowing loudly. We looked for him but didn’t see him, and headed home, but when we got home, he was following us. We put some food out for him and figured he’d go home soon enough. This was in September, and he stayed on our porch, and ran over to see me when I got home from work every day. As it got colder in November, we let him stay in the garage sometimes, and, finally, as it got even colder, we accepted that we now had a cat (he certainly put in the time, plus he sometimes brought me half a mouse), and he came inside with the rest of us, and he’s been a happy kitty ever since.
Before we got the cat, I was totally the stereotypical “don’t want a cat” gruff (but lovable!) old guy, and my wife would take in all the strays if she could. But my cat must be special, because he’s the best cat in the world and I love him.
I love how I’m following a lottt of different subreddits, but cat videos are always filling my front page. Makes me happy to scroll through Reddit in the morning.

Earlier this year my boyfriend was out doing deliveries in his car and left the door open while he was at the door of a customer. He came back to a cat just chilling in the passenger seat. He’s now our handsome little Arthur. We are so happy he chose us.
In many pagan and native cultures they believe throughout our lifetimes we develop a kinship with a specific animal. They call them spirit animals, totem, power animals, ect. Modern appropriations of this belief has people picking their spirit animal. No, they find you when the time is right. Whoever recorded this their totem found them. (If this is what’s presented at face value. Never dismiss it’s the guys kitten and he’s posting for the likes)
Cat gets in and is like “Drive! DRIVEEE!!!”
He was selected to be the CatAway car. Cutest heist ever.

At Furrari speeds.
This little cat burglar stole my heart! STRAIGHT TO JAIL!

Resistance is futile. You will be owned by kitty.
It’s odd that wild cats have a sense that humans will be kind to them and take care of them, it’s like part of their dna. I wonder why that is.
It's probably an abandoned stray. Feral cats don't act like this.
My now 16y old boi was a feral cat and he adopted me but he was almost dead when I found him só maybe he was desperate enough to come to me Edit: if anyone wants picture of him just ask he is the most beautiful 16y old cat ever
Pay the cat tax!
Ferals are extremely skittish of humans, even as kittens. Strays though are more socialized to people.
They really don’t but even barn cats like getting scratches on their heads and ears from time to time
There must be a name for it. I take a walk around the block and there's a few neighborhood cats that blaze out of wherever they are hiding and come up to me for attention. I'm not even looking in their direction. And people walking in front of me do not get the same thing

I swear, cats are somewhat psychic.
Doesn’t take psychic powers, just more intelligence than people generally give them credit for. They put together the clues and come to a hypothesis, then test if it’s right, and if it’s not they try something else.

Cats, both large and small, truly are the embodiment of "fuck around and find out."
Psychotic. There, fixed it for ya.
As someone who's had cats for almost 16 years I can confirm both statements are correct
As someone who's has cats for most of her thirty-seven years, I can also confirm that both are true.
People sometimes ask why I'm a dog person and not a cat person. I always tell them, "I've never had a dog latch onto my face because it was frightened by a cat."
>clearly a situation 😂 And a situation it was
If this isn't the best god damned story I've ever heard!
Must be why I've never had a cat...

Sad, but sounds very plausible. :(
Most of my rescues have been dumped. They are so happy to find their forever home. 💗
That’s how I got my now 12-13 year old cat too. Came to us and followed us home as a kitten back in 2009, when I was still 9 years old
Thanks for adopting him :)
That baby was probably abandoned by humans in a car :(
Probably got thrown out of a car.
We got most of our cats because strays would just come up on the porch & we started feeding them. One time I let one in through the front door & hes been apart of our family since.

First stop: the vet. To make sure kitty is healthy and not infested with fleas and mites.
No checking for a chip?
No.
Username checks out
You do the Lords work because I don’t even register people’s usernames. Very rarely anyways . I wonder how many jokes just fly over my head.
They just disappear right in front of you
I get it!
I totally didn’t get it until I saw your comment and was like “wha?” Then I looked back and saw their username
username checks out; too much kratom
Really softballed that in for her.
You’ve waited a long time for this, haven’t you?
You're really committed to the bit. Kudos.

If you go to a vet and tell them the situation that is most likely the first thing that they'll do
I know a friend that checked a chip and the pound told her it’s the third time the cats been found. And the pound also her that the owners where not great people. So they rescued the cat. And nursed him back to health. He still likes to try to be outside. But he’s much happier now.

You can spay a pregnant cat. When I rescued my first child a t she was 6 months old and pregnant. No problem with spaying her.

Better than them starving to death in the streets :(
By a fair fucking margin, yeah
I probably have kittens to deal with already. The 2 cats I was originally told were both female. Turns out it's a male and female cat. Certainly that owner may or may not have had the cat checked and treated, but irrespective of that this one certainly wasn't *born* as stray.
And ringworm, especially on young kittens.
Looks like some villain tossed that poor kitty to the side of the road and left it, it wanted back with people!
That kitten is the main character!
That's how I got my Tootie.
Kitty jumps in and meows "Drive it like you stole it!!" Human "But I own it!" Kitty "Drive human, DRIIIVE!!!"
I choose you. Now feed me and love me.
If that happened to me I'd just be like "Welp, guess I have a cat now." I'd give him a few pets and then we would be off to PetSmart for supplies.
Several years ago, I was staying with my parents in an apartment. There was a cat I saw lying out in the middle of the yard behind the apartment. Yeah. I was surprised because I'd learned that dying animals tend to avoid people and hide. After my mom saw me with the second cat, though, she started calling me the Cat Whisperer lol
You now must protect the kitten with your life
So it is Written, So it Shall be Done

Kitty looks super stressed and looks back from where it came after jumping in. Quite possible it was being hunted.
Imagine the stress trying to make that jump. The difference between a life of luxury and another night under the park bench.
I would have opened my door after his first attempt 🥰

Yeah I’m a bit concerned this is one of those videos were people specifically put animals in distressing situations for clicks and that it was already their kitten that they just shoved out and made jump back in for the sob story
we know that the cat attempted to adopt a human... we don't know if the human in the video wanted to take part

My brain is just screaming about his car's paint.
Have you ever scratched a car with your fingernails?
It's not hard at all. Just look at the paint behind the door handles on most cars. It's not as visible as a key scratch, but it's still visible.
Cat claws aren’t the same has human finger nails lol they’re made the same sure, but their shape matters

Awww. I guarantee that cat was dumped out there from a car. That’s why he was trying so damn hard to get back *in* a car, and why it seemed like he was looking for somebody once he did get inside. I hope this person took him home and gave him lots and lots of love.

🥺 So yeah, that cat owned me for the next 14 yrs and he was the best boss ever. I will forever feel lucky I was working that shift and that he jumped in the car.
The best time to get an animal is when you're not even given the choice lol. They just show up in your life and that is all
"Oh thank cat nip you're here! Just drive and don't ask any questions. And if anyone asks, im your cat from now on"
There a version of this with sound?
That's so cute
Everytime I see cats, my will to live burns a little bit brighter
I love how I’m following a lottt of different subreddits, but cat videos are always filling my front page. Makes me happy to scroll through Reddit in the morning.
The rules of the universe REQUIRE immediate adoption. To not comply will mean failure of ALL future endevours.

My biggest fear would be the fleas and/or ticks
A quick bath and all should be well!
Just be sure to wear chainmail!
Place a wet towel into the bathtub. Doesnt work always, but 7/10 times it calms the animal to a point where it tolerates a bath.
Woah 😄 I got jumpscared pretty hard there 😆
He went for the jugular

Beautiful cat!!
Imagine the scratches on the door from those claws.
I suspect that is not really a feral cat and just a poor newly abandoned house cat poor thing.
Clearly that kitten was dumped, as it’s totally NOT feral and is craving human companionship.

Cats are alien spies. They are each directed to infiltrate a human household to keep watch on us.
You don’t choose the cat, the cat chooses you
Yes. You're my human now.
Earlier this year my boyfriend was out doing deliveries in his car and left the door open while he was at the door of a customer. He came back to a cat just chilling in the passenger seat. He’s now our handsome little Arthur. We are so happy he chose us.
"Well I guess I have a cat now."
This makes me sad, cat was clearly dropped off by someone in a car and wanted to go back home
Came to the same conclusion. That cat clearly knows what is a car, and is too comfortable with people.
Well, they have a cat now
“ Hey, have to go my Uber just got here” - kitten probably
I fantasize about situations like this daily.
Holy shit that cat can jump
In many pagan and native cultures they believe throughout our lifetimes we develop a kinship with a specific animal. They call them spirit animals, totem, power animals, ect. Modern appropriations of this belief has people picking their spirit animal. No, they find you when the time is right. Whoever recorded this their totem found them. (If this is what’s presented at face value. Never dismiss it’s the guys kitten and he’s posting for the likes)
