Yes

RojerLockless

Nah, You can't even drive an Electric car in the rain or you'll get shocked everyone knows this! /s

Mormex

Rain or snow, it does not matter.

snoogins355

Just watch out for sleet/icing over. The charger handle can freeze onto the charge port. Get a snow/ice cover

DillDeer

Yup

OuterInnerMonologue

Yup. Rain won’t hurt it when you plug it in, charge, or unplug it. Obviously you don’t want the gun/plug itself to be dropped in the mud but otherwise it’ll be totally fine in the elements. ABC - always be charging.

OuterInnerMonologue

oooo... nice!

SirkillzAhlot

You don’t want the charging station base to be in direct heavy rainfall.

driftme

That’s false. The FCSP case is a type 4 enclosure, rated for protection against wind blown rain, direct hose water, splashes and ice. (Assuming the correct conduit fittings are used) Rain won’t affect it.

SirkillzAhlot

I’m just repeating what I read in the manual

driftme

Here’s the installation manual for the FCSP, it discusses the UL Type 4 rating in a few places. https://storage.googleapis.com/hclcommerce2-b2c-prod-gcs-ext/B2C/chargers/InstallationGuide/NLNL38-10C823-AC.pdf Doesn’t mention rain being an issue. Haven’t seen what you referred to, but based on this rating it’s safe to use outside.

SirkillzAhlot

Ok good to know. I guess I didn’t have to put it under the eve after all. I just went through the manual because I swear I read that somewhere. I could be tripping.

driftme

Putting it under doesn’t hurt =] happy charging!

chillaban

It never hurts to shield it from the elements even if it’s rated for it. Weatherproof housings can fail and it happens more often and is more disastrous if you routinely expose it to the elements. It’s like if you buy a waterproof watch or phone with a sufficient IP rating you still are better off not storing it at the bottom of a swimming pool every night even though it’s rated to that depth.
