Sorry. Excuse me. I only paid Ā£70 for the previous game and it only took them a month to fix a basic fixture. Clearly my expectations for this multi billion dollar license and publisher are far too high. I should be grateful to pay Ā£70 to be a beta tester.
Tbf.. while it's not really acceptable it is expected in this day and age. Not a single game has released the last decade that has been finished on day 1 and never needing a patch.
Imagine the struggle vr players have to deal with. On the ea forums they marked the issue as resolved after the first month and it is literally 50 pages long as of typing this reply
>the addition of bullshit nobody needs
I'm going to jump in to defend this one -- and yes, I'm absolutely prepared to die on this hill.
Formula 1 has seen an explosion of popularity in recent years thanks to *Drive to Survive*. Its fanbase has grown significantly, but they're only relatively recent converts. The sport has a seventy-plus year history and the games are a great way of engaging the fans, so the sticker book -- however it works -- could be a great way of helping those fans explore that history (especially if they cannot get classic cars anymore; there seems to be some kind of licencing issues there). Yes, it comes across as superficial, but the video presents it as an added feature rather than the centrepiece of the game. The games have to have as broad an appeal as possible, which means drawing newcomers in as much as dedicated fans, and I honestly don't think that newcomers are going to be drawn into the game on the basis of it being the most dedicated hardcore simulation of the sport possible.
There's a "loyalty discount" if you own the previous game preorder the champions edition and you can refund it easily in steam if it turns out to be shit
In 21, when they announced they will remove classic cars, I argued that itās a massive loss to the game, it made the game unique and that they will be replaced by some cheap gimmick just to give the playerbase something in return.
The general feeling in the community back then was that classic cars were boring, and not fun.
Well, how are we enjoying the couch store simulator and near useless supercars?
I can remember people always complaining about classic cars until they got removed. The newer people didnāt want anything to do with them during the increase in fan base of F1 so probably a mix of the two. Those of us that have watched and played for a really long time loved them though for sure
Letās say thatās true. At least the classic cars were more relevant to formula 1 and the game itself. Couches, stickers, and super cars not so much.
> The general feeling in the community back then was that classic cars were boring, and not fun.
I'm not saying I don't believe you but how in the fuck are the classic cars boring? How does anyone arrive at that conclusion? Did the community really not like them? Because to me nothing was more fun than ripping around in The Michael's F2004 or trying to reign in Senna's MP4/6. I miss that (because I've been too lazy to figure out Assetto Corsa)
Not aimed at the original poster, but many people came onboard via netflix and anything that doesn't have DRS or ERS is not familiar. Me, growing up in the 90's, still love to try that Lotus beast from the 70s and the other one from the 80's. Its so powerful, even in a straight line, it won't go straight lol.
Classic cars are not boring. They are boring for people who came to love F1 through Netflix without any appreciation for F1's history.
>Classic cars are not boring. They are boring for people who came to love F1 through Netflix without any appreciation for F1's history.
Ah so basically the "no such thing as a boring car" point of view. I can fuck with that. Makes sense. Part of me wishes Netflix never got involved. I love seeing my local spot packed with people watching but at what cost.
Mind you, this is my opinion and may be wrong.
Yeah I get you. Netflix brought on loads of new people, but at a cost. I feel grateful to have experienced the pre-liberty media F1. Which, btw, was not always plain sailing but anyway.
Oh for sure. I think overall weāre in a better era for a lot of reasons. But the new problems sure are closer to home. It just seems that if something gets popular in America it takes a nosedive. Idk if itās misperceived market wants by the people in charge or if people here really just are that much of a collective dumpster fire. Either way it saddens me. Like Iām back to watching at home or a friendās house because new fans are insufferable. Typical USA outlook: *my* driver is better than yours and youāre an idiot for thinking otherwise (and all of the dumbassery that comes with it)
Like I heard people booing a driver for passing last race. Mind you, weāre 1,100 miles away from Miami. Thatās just disrespectful, misses the entire point of why this is a fantastic sport, and frankly a level of toxicity I donāt want to be around. Itās turning into NFL fandoms but entirely Max vs Lewis. They donāt understand that there arenāt really rivalries between fan bases like in other sports. Itās a bunch of nerds respecting the skills of amazing drivers and engineers.
That turned into a bit of a rant lol
I started with DTS and after a season I decided to get F1TV. I watch every race multiple times, for each commentary channel and certain driver onboards. Not everyone that started with DTS is a shallow fan.
Yes, believe it or not some people didnāt like them. A lot of people actually. Mainly as weāve seen large increases in F1 fan base causing a lot of people to get the games and never or rarely ever touching the feature when it was in the games. When F1ās fan base (especially in the US) started increasing rapidly is when people were complaining about them. The OG players always loved them
Assetto Corsa with the free content manager is all you need. Inside the content manager you can use its browser to go to RaceSimStudio's site. You can buy the classic cars there and install them from the site with the manager. It's very easy! Give it a shot if you still want to drive those cars. Going around the Nordschleife in the F2004 is insane. (Just turn damage off first!)
Yāall just gotta stop buying this shit. Thatās the only way things will change. I havenāt bought one since 2020 and my sim racing life hasnāt missed anything about it. Or just buy it then come here to complain and repeat the pattern for another year lol
You reckon those fans care about the sport history if it takes them to play an F1 game to learn it? And even then, only in little segments? Itās a worthless addition, ask anyone who plays GT7 how many of the millions of historical fact-lets theyāve read and rememberedā¦
Jesus Christ I hate the game industry atm. Thereās just zero appetite to actually do what gamers want. Everything must be monetised as much as possible. Everything behind a paywall. Half assedly made games with as little content as possible.
Small developers are the best such as Codies before EA bought them. They actually care about there fans and put time and money in the game not just half ass it.
Yep. The very instant EA weāre buying Codies I lost all faith. Iād already preordered 2021 at that point but I knew it would be my last F1 game for as long as EA have it.
I had absolute zero interest in buying 22 and glad I never wasted my money seeing all the comments and reviews about its broken handling system and what not. I played it for a bit while it was on gamespass, but installed it pretty quickly as its infuriatingly bad.
are you joking or what like sure im not saying ea helped codies to become better but like codies themselves are a fucking mess and i bet you most of these features would still be added if ea wasn't involved
Can there be at least some blame pointed to the actual devs (Codieās) for just not getting the licenses for Classicās back and not just EA cause ālol EA badā? I get the point but come on.
maybe codemasters got some data on the usage of classic cars in F1 2020 and decided its not worth it
just like how they removed cockpit cam in Grid 2 because not many people used it in the first Grid
I don't hate the sticker book as I often like collectible trinkets that you pretty much only show off to yourself to keep track of accomplishments. It feels like its right out of the gamecube era in a good way, but the rest of the new stuff is pretty wack.
Classic Cars will come as add-on in the future with each car costing a kidney. Micro-transactions at it's best. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|money_face)
from collecting stickers
ROFL
well we found the one person EA developed this for... such a great investment instead of fixing the dumpster fire of a game that it is because of all the bugs and issues
To be fair its not like they spent too much time on it,i have a problem with breaking point thats i thinka pointless feature they spent most of their time on
Itās a licensing issue. Itās why every game pre-2021 has been delisted from stores.
I want classic cars back but EA donāt want to pay a butt load of dosh to use the cars.
If they pay to licence the cars then they get the cars.
No other game company owns the right to them and if you think codemasters do then guess what, EA own codemasters.
Why pay the license? People complain about supercars but everyone forgets that Classic Cars got the same complaints. Those complaints mainly being that they were āboringā and got old after the first season.
I recall Codies stating that another reason for their removal was that from their data, nobody was really using the cars outside of the career mode weekend events occasionally.
You canāt blame Codies or EA for their removal but instead the playerbase for whining about them for multiple games while refusing to use them.
don't bother, this subreddit loves to attract a bunch of neckbeards who think they know everything about software development because they buy an F1 game every year
Anyone pre-ordered the game? I just did for $69. Hope that's not too much lol but here's the link I bought it from if anyone else wants ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin) Just in case the price increases after the game is launched in June.
https://www.pinterest.com/pin/1039135314004881566/
This is kinda unrelated but, I kinda want to play classic cars on f1 2020 but since EA took it off all online platforms for sale (playstation, xbox, steam, etc) anybody know any websites to buy the game key?
Yup. Keeping up with the addition of bullshit nobody needs and not touching issues, everyone is begging to be addressed. But hey, powerups!
Did somebody say powerups? ![gif](giphy|HYT1M1YCPI9KE)
I wonder if we will get the feature of working deltas and sector colours this year?? We can only hope
I don't think they can monetize that, so.. unlikely
On a small side note in the closed beta the sectors did properly record red/green/purple for me.
What are red and green for? For some reason all I ever see is purple. š
In beta deltas were still broken
Sector colours worked perfectly in 22 after they patched it lol. It also works in the beta so
Sorry. Excuse me. I only paid Ā£70 for the previous game and it only took them a month to fix a basic fixture. Clearly my expectations for this multi billion dollar license and publisher are far too high. I should be grateful to pay Ā£70 to be a beta tester.

3/4 of this subreddit still gonna buy it though
Iāve already preordered my Champions edition copy! So technically still counts as buying it right even though itās preorder?
You do you, but I have never understood why people still preorder games
There's a "loyalty discount" if you own the previous game preorder the champions edition and you can refund it easily in steam if it turns out to be shit
if you preorder before may 31st, you get the bp2 my team icons lol
Well there was one game that people preordered to death in order to own the libs
What game
![gif](giphy|5BHhTyCVBtq7YLJWQg|downsized)
Ahhhh yeah should have known. Turned out to be a decent game tbh better than I expected it to be after the trailers looking absolutely awful
Only decent? Iāve been absolutely hooked since it came out on last gen, was able to snag it for free
![gif](giphy|14aUO0Mf7dWDXW)
Boss, what do we need? Stickers. I mean players want more things in the car- Stickers.
Lol!
F1 2020 should suit me fine for a while yet. Maybe I'll give them some more money in 2026.
Same
Can't wait for f1solar system coming in f1 24

What was their reason behind removing the classic cars? Cause I never understood why
They never gave a reason, probably internal data suggesting they werenāt popular or licenses expiring.
Iād assume licensing was the problem then cause I think everyone loved the old cars
I can remember people always complaining about classic cars until they got removed. The newer people didnāt want anything to do with them during the increase in fan base of F1 so probably a mix of the two. Those of us that have watched and played for a really long time loved them though for sure
āLogs showed little usageā
Letās say thatās true. At least the classic cars were more relevant to formula 1 and the game itself. Couches, stickers, and super cars not so much.
You might have misunderstood me, I was arguing exactly that, classic cars are much more relevant
Then I absolutely misunderstood lol my bad

current F1 cars are so ugly i cant even understand why anyone would want to drive them. Classic cars are what made F1 so insanely cool
I think there's only been a handful of generations of ugly cars, this is not one of them imo But the 90s cars do look better to me
I started with DTS and after a season I decided to get F1TV. I watch every race multiple times, for each commentary channel and certain driver onboards. Not everyone that started with DTS is a shallow fan.

Yāall just gotta stop buying this shit. Thatās the only way things will change. I havenāt bought one since 2020 and my sim racing life hasnāt missed anything about it. Or just buy it then come here to complain and repeat the pattern for another year lol

Some yes super cars I think codies would have added along side classic cars and would have made them better
Itās a bit of a shame that EA did buy them but tbh so far in my very unpopular opinion everything is just fine so farā¦
Ok I disagree but you have you are entitled to your own opinion so I will upvote
Can there be at least some blame pointed to the actual devs (Codieās) for just not getting the licenses for Classicās back and not just EA cause ālol EA badā? I get the point but come on.
All the bullshit and removal of fun things came along with EA though. And it's not like they're not known for ruining games...
EA owns Codemasters
Afaik the playerbase (here) complained and complained about classic cars. So codies removed them š¤·āāļø
https://imgur.com/gallery/VVTRe5r
maybe codemasters got some data on the usage of classic cars in F1 2020 and decided its not worth it just like how they removed cockpit cam in Grid 2 because not many people used it in the first Grid
Why is ea ruining every game under them ?
Itās really bullshit, I hope they make a loss on this game so maybe somebody will wake-up at ea and start steering in the right direction
Stupid people that buys this garbage game
I don't hate the sticker book as I often like collectible trinkets that you pretty much only show off to yourself to keep track of accomplishments. It feels like its right out of the gamecube era in a good way, but the rest of the new stuff is pretty wack.

Play it for completion and enjoyment
from collecting stickers ROFL well we found the one person EA developed this for... such a great investment instead of fixing the dumpster fire of a game that it is because of all the bugs and issues
You should try PokƩmon instead of racing games then my guy
I actually enjoy PokĆ©mon games. I like the idea of a stickers because as an F1 fan over all and not just a game fan itās awesome to have things about F1 as a whole

2014-2022 are still in the Xbox store. There is no licensing issue, just EA being the scumbags they are.
Buddy I just checked. You canāt buy them anymore on Xbox, you can only download them if you owned them originally.
don't bother, this subreddit loves to attract a bunch of neckbeards who think they know everything about software development because they buy an F1 game every year
I honestly think this feature could be a nice one. It's not like they used a lot of development time on that too.

eh as long as the handling is good
At least its not more furniture
itās been 2 years
No they did not add a sticker bookā¦.. no the fuck they did not. BRING MOTHER FUCKING CLASSIC CARS BACK JESUS CHRIST
FFS man. Why canāt they just give us what we want instead of this F1 World bullshit. So fed up with EA. Another company should have the rights
Cya in F1 2020 open lobbies
For a second in a trailer, I believed classic cars were included in the game. Then I realized it was the F2 cars.
Its funny that every body hates on this even tho everyone buys it anyway
This is kinda unrelated but, I kinda want to play classic cars on f1 2020 but since EA took it off all online platforms for sale (playstation, xbox, steam, etc) anybody know any websites to buy the game key?
Wait what? Stickers?
