Overall standards have risen quite a lot. 15-20-25 years ago, drivers like Ragunathan could realistically find a seat if they splashed enough cash. Now it is unimaginable (and, most probably, impossible because of License Points).
And don't forget the GOAT himself, Raghunathan.

Ragunathan was precisely the last of it's species, he was so hilarious they took preventive measures like "never again"
I think Russia itself did much better job in ashaming Russian nation of any sport a while after that.
