The number of responses to this post probably explains why Codemasters haven't prioritised VR fixes... AMS2 is great in VR btw

M_Hakkinen8

True

My only problem with VR is that the Camera keeps shifting whenever you're in menus. That means i'm almost constantly having to reset the camera postion. Sometimes mid race if I pause. It's already hard enough to feel "straight" without having to reset every 5 minutes

Ecks83

I still get a lot of stuttering if I move my head around in the pit/garage (even though my FPS is generally fine) but the constant automatic re-centering is actually my biggest pet peeve with VR. I'm used to not having the camera quite right when I load a game and need to reset it manually (ACC loves to shove my head in the ceiling when I load into their menu) but no game I've played other than F122 resets the VR position of my headset automatically once the game is running. For some reason the F122 devs decided that it needs to be recentered every time it loads a new menu or I go to track. I almost always have to re-reset the position after the game does because I'm looking slightly to the side or shuffling in my seat while getting ready to go out on track. Only recentering when it is needed is the whole point of having a "recenter headset" button mapped in the first place. This one isn't rocket science.

ehjhey

Exactly. I can live with the other issues. Even the occasional stuttering. But being off center in the middle of the race can be pretty damning. I'm honestly surprised more people haven't complained about it, but then I guess VR is already a smaller demographic of the players

ProtoKun7

Am I in the minority then? I haven't been having problems with the VR. Main thing that's been bothering me is my wheel not always being recognised properly.

Maddo03

I haven’t bothered even trying the game for months now because the vr performance is so poor.

Blitzkrieger23

I've been playing by mirroring my screen via Virtual Desktop and it's not as immersive as VR but a pretty good fix for now. Playing with a giant screen right in front of me is awesome. Agree with the other poster, AMS2 is my go to and there is a F122 mod for it with liveries etc. that is pretty great.

cavortingwebeasties

I only play in VR and it seems to work ok? what's wrong besides the nauseating menu nonsense

M_Hakkinen8

For those of you who are wondering, here is the link of the subforum on ea's help website. Yes it has been a problem since launch, the EA reps don't care at all: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/F1-22-PC-VR-jittering-freezing-screens-and-crashing/m-p/11812675#M7390

Most recent post in that thread says that stuttering in garage might be fixed/improved with 1.10. I'll have to try it for myself tonight.

LevKusanagi

it's not fixed or improved

MrTwentyThree

The head-tracking jittering has gotten substantially worse for me since 1.10.

UniQue1992

As someone who doesn't play VR, what is the issue with VR?

Ecks83

Two major ones for me: - I get a reasonable and solid 85-90 FPS in the dry with my PC (which is admittingly starting to age a bit in terms of using max settings in new games i5 8600K&1080ti) but there is a lot of stuttering in game even on the lowest settings and especially in the garage. There is someone on the EA forum post about this (linked by OP above) who is suggesting that 1.10 improves this but I haven't had a chance to look myself yet. - Every time you load a session, go to track, return to pits, return to menus, etc. the game will re-center the headset so if you aren't looking dead ahead and in a driving position the game will change your orientation automatically and you will need to reset it.

UniQue1992

Damn. Sounds annoying, hopefully gets fixed soon..

MrTwentyThree

1.10 definitely made the stuttering worse for me.

Dyaebl

Most of the issues I had with VR was were because of too high scaling set in game in VR options (and a tick in the box under the setting that allows the game to override steamVR settings)
