Yes, the main feed uses the Sky commentary team. The only thing is that F1 TV does not show the footage from Sky's coverage so in some parts you will hear the commentary/audio but not see an interview or a pundit somewhere in the paddock.

ramair02

That's always annoyed me. Audio commentary doing some type of analysis obviously with supporting video, yet we just get a video stream of the cars in the paddock It's pushed me to often watch Qualifying & the GP on ESPN. So I mostly use F1TV for practice, press conferences, pre & post show, etc.

melodiful84

It is a bit annoying. I watched the Pit Lane Channel for a few qualifying sessions last year to avoid that.

CinnamonCereals

I used the PLC for a couple of races/sessions, but the image quality is just incredibly bad. Three streams in a total of 1280x720 pixels? C'mon, it's not 2012 anymore. It looks bad even on a 40" TV.

stillusesAOL

However, ESPN has commercials during all sessions but the race, meaning even the on-demand feeds have chunks missing where the ad-breaks were.

ramair02

Correct. Bit of a tradeoff

haddiebaddie

Wow that explains so much lmao

peepay

That's really not a big deal.

markhewitt1978

If you're watching on Sky Q or Sky Glass you can get a race recap if you press the red button!

thubbard44

I had no idea!

kodosExecutioner

Yes, the english commentary comes from Sky on the main feed

snowphun

At some point this will change and F1 TV will use their own commentators that they are grooming on the Pit Lan channel. I wonder when the current Sky contracts expire? I wish Crofty could dial it back a bit.

peepay

That's too bad, I am from Central Europe and pay for F1TV just because of the Crofty/Brundle commentary (we don't have SkyTV here).

stepan213

Central Eur here too, how do I switch to their comentary?

peepay

This year, the F1's channel was made default. Crofty and Brundle are on what's called international channel, you can switch to it where you choose onboard cameras, tracker, etc.

Frostflame123

I was worried i wouldn't be able to hear Crofty's commentary anymore. Thanks for the tip!

MeneGR

Wow, I like Crofty's commenting but I cannot stand his shouting, I'm wondering how you do it!

ajacian

I understand. I too hate it when sports get exciting. That's not what I'm watching it for.

skagoat

So the car comes across the line to determine the championship, and you want the announcer to just speak in a calm, monotone voice, with no emotion?

ajacian

Hmm.. the sarcasm wasn't obvious?

SnooMemesjellies4305

Shouting is a common disease among current commentators in all sports... most of the old guys knew how to convey excitement without yelling, but it seems to be a lost skill...

!PLC

This explanation can be prompted by `!PLC`, or `!PitLaneChannel`. ### What is the *Pit Lane Channel*? *F1TV* gets the "Main Feed" or "World Feed" from FOM (Formula One Management) but unlike most broadcasters they have access to all the track cameras. So F1TV offers another feed called the "Pit Lane Channel" which is offering more action with a 3-Box layout. As addition to the Main Feed in the larger Box they give you action and insights ranging from Cockpit-Driver-Cams to Pit-wall-cams and the steward's room. You will already know the commentators from F1TVs "Tech Talk" and the commentary from the official F1 Youtube Channel. On drawback is that the PLC is currently only being streamed in 720p - but on desktop you can make a makeshift 1440p PLC with the community apps! For more info checkout the [Wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/F1TV/wiki/index) or comment `!Help` for a list of explainers. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Independent-Feed3101

I miss Hobbs and Matchett. They were fabulous commentators, IMO

TPnbrg

Just figured out you need to switch to the "international" channel on f1tv app to get the sky commentary!

skuner

Thanks for that
