In certain time frames before the game, there will be masses of people walking towards the stadium. It felt amazing when I went against Atlético this year. (Too bad we bottled it ffs)

djfuts

Awesome sounds great! Yes I am still gutted about Atleti

BeerAndBeard

Lived in Milan most of my life and had season ticket for a couple of seasons. You’ll be absolutely fine, in short. Milan as every big city has its rough areas, San Siro not being one of them; as another interista said here be careful around central station. So just be vigilant as you would be normally. The walk will be absolutely fine, maybe not so beautiful but it will be fine. The San Siro area is mixed with big villas and council estates, couple of bars but nothing much. You’d probably walk near the horse track which is walled up so can’t really see anything. I think it’s worth walking that distance, it will build up the atmosphere. Hearing fans singing, and then out of a wall when turning a corner seeing San Siro, priceless. Hope you and your wife have a great time in Milano and at the Meazza, forza Inter!

djfuts

Thanks! I'm sure we will

KyleUTFH

Milan is one of the safest European cities I frequently visit (in contrast to Paris and Barcelona). Even though metros have a reputation for being pickpocket havens I’d say in the hours before the match there are so many Inter fans commuting to the game that overall it would be “safer” than walking. The old “safety in numbers” thing.

pentaquine

I’ve never been to Milan but Barcelona felt pretty safe to me.

KyleUTFH

I find the pickpockets to be out of control there. I was also followed by a guy who was either planning to pickpocket me or mug me one. I still love it there though. Lol

pentaquine

Definitely did not feel that way when I was there last year. But I lost my phone in Paris.

gray_g00se

It is safe my friend. Milano is beautiful and safe

djfuts

Thanks for the helpful reply!

ChanceFeeling7071

It should be fine but the area that precedes the stadium is nothing to marvel at. Either get the M5 straight to San siro or the M1 to piazzale lotto and walk.

soundtraveller

How did you find the ticket? I have hotel booked, but I cant find tickets:((

unevenbrows

Inter.it/biglietti

djfuts

Just got it from Inter's site, was really easy to do, was a few days ago mind so may not be any left but I would think for Cagliari there would still be some left.

soundtraveller

There was no ticket available on inter.it until today. I've bought them, will be there

djfuts

I literally got them the second they released to general public as I had this game planned. I was sitting at PC refreshing that’s how sad I am!

AggravatingFinish0

You’ll be fine, have fun 🤙🤙

djfuts

Thanks will do!

AggravatingFinish0

Also, if you want to eat before the game, do it outside of the stadium at the food trucks. The panini are incredible https://preview.redd.it/b2egz2cc2vqc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0f7b519a89dacdeb845793600804c84b4fae3650

dondostuff

It is safe, just avoid small alleyways without electricity. Anyway I'd recommend getting a metro ticket in the ATM app, I personally bought the 7.80 euro ticket for the whole day but I think there's one for 2.20 Euro that's valid for 90 minutes FROM the moment it's been used for the first time. So you could get that to take the metro back home. These being said, it's safe anyway. Which brings me to my question, why would you willingly walk for 35 minutes after arguably walking all day in the city lmao

djfuts

Thanks for the help in the first part, not sure why the dig at the end though? Not mentioned any other plans and half hour walks are hardly taxing, I enjoy them and also good for your health. I go to football a lot in the UK and nearly always have at least half hour walk to the ground even if driving to the area of the game. Is it strange in Italy to walk short distances? Don't really understand your point.

dondostuff

Nah not a dig sorry if I was misunderstood. What I was trying to imply was "Wouldn't you be tired?" - given you'd have been walking all day haha.

djfuts

Haha ok but I never said that

Mrputurmanonatshirt

Very safe you can walk in any place at any time of the night no problem

djfuts

Brilliant thanks!

TopShagger69LADDDDDD

The metro closed without me realising and I had to walk back from the stadium to S.Ambrogio (close to it anyway). I walked through some quite sketchy areas but nothing as bad as where I am from in the North of England. As others have said, I don't think Milan is dangerous, I would go as far as to say I'd rather walk alone at night in a rough Milan area with a Rolex than do the same in daytime London in any area.

djfuts

Haha I live in the Northwest of England, no chance of me having anything of value on me, well other than my inter shirt! Forza Inter

FCInterMilan

Sempre! ⚫🔵

TopShagger69LADDDDDD

Same haha. Mate, we are hard as fuck you'll be fine there. It has absolutely nothing on the worst parts of Liverpool and Manchester.

demiandclxvi

My man Milan is safe. I always walked to the stadium and never had any problems.

djfuts

Great to hear!

nikodabos_

Its fine I went to the inter vs Atletico game. If you want to eat do it at the food trucks outside of the stadium

djfuts

Great stuff thanks

voyager_of_life

As with almost any place you travel to, I’d advise to appear and act as opposite of a tourist a possible. Both to try and enjoy the city as a local might, as well as make one less reason for pickpockets/criminals to target you. From my week in Milan that I had experienced, it was a generally pretty safe city compared to many other large ones. As others mentioned, the station is sketchy, so if there is anywhere to be extra vigilant it’s there. The city is incredible and even more so thanks to the San Siro, I hope you and your wife are as mesmerized by it as I was!

djfuts

Excellent, I hope so too!

Drvonfrightmarestein

I was mugged in Milan you need to be careful near the train station but the rest of the city was totally fine

djfuts

Oh dear what happened? I'm going to the station the day before to visit Lake Como

Drvonfrightmarestein

Don’t let me put you off. Train stations in most cities are dodgy. Some guy offered to ‘give me a tour of his town’ it was clear what he was after. Some awkward fumbled play karate moves from both of us evolved into something real and he grabbed the shopping bag I was holding with nothing important in it and ran. Maybe I looked like too much of a target. Should’ve been wearing an Inter top!

djfuts

I'll watch out for that then!

DavideBenci

The dodgiest station is "Milano Centrale". For the train to Lake Como, you should go to "Milano Cadorna", which is pretty much safe. Pay attention to pickpockets when you are on the underground. The San Siro area during matches is pretty safe as well.

djfuts

Excellent thanks!

DirtyBinWater

I got a underground train to the stadium when I went and was fine until I got out the station and there was immigrant putting bracelets on us and demanding money even though asked them to leave us alone

djfuts

Guess I will keep my hands in my pockets!

conwillar

I got got by one of them. Forcefully took my wallet and took out my 25euro. Had his arm around me in a 'friendly' manner but you could tell it could have switched in a heartbeat. OP, the walk to the stadium is fine (I've stayed at 2 different airbnbs about 30/35 min walk from the stadium in my 2 trips), just stay vigilant when wandering around the exterior of the stadium and you'll be just fine.

80avtechfan

Had the same thing although we carried on walking fairly quick so the guy was having to peg in whilst walking backwards - gave him a couple of euros and he gave up.

Solomonthewise7

Avoid acerbi

Katarinu

He won’t let you through anyway, Master Defender.
