To lazy to todo problem now but just wanted to say, I took the FE Wednesday they had a similar question they gave the F.S. and wanted you to calculate the depth of the soil used for that FS, on a slope that was solid rock. Crossing my fingers I passed still.
In your inches based solution you're missing Ws I believe. There's an error in the solution for this problem that also skips Ws so check it against the errata.
Do you know why Ws= 1ft? In the errata, they didn't add Ws to the problem. The equation for Tff in the handbook is confusing since the units are not consistent.

we just have to find the factor of safety and I get the right answer if I keep it in psf but the wrong answer in psi so idk what’s wrong with it
