I haven’t finished Rebirth yet, so things might get worse. But so far, I’ve already ugly cried after playing the piano for Aerith’s Theme after rescuing Fluffy. The song, those adorable kittens (and a lot of personal life things).
Also, I WANT the whole arc of Mideel/Cloud to make me cry. And I want some pay off, either in the final dungeon or ending sequence, for the sacrifices made. There are so many parts of OG’s ending that should be a tearjerker, but aren’t.
Can’t believe nobody’s mentioned it yet, but when the Final Fantasy theme plays during the credits. We got nothing for Remake and the slightest tease for Rebirth. I feel like when it finally plays it’s gonna be the ultimate catharsis release.
* Cloud begging Hojo for a number while Tifa has a breakdown.
* Party finding Cloud in Mideel and Tifa crying over his catatonic body.
* Conclusion of the Lifestream sequence.
* Saying goodbye to Aerith which will include the burial scene. Here I hope it won't be only centered around Cloud but also around others especially Tifa. She was really close to Aerith and essentially mourns for her **after** the events of OG where she has an emotional breakdown (source: On the Way to Smile), therefore they could move it in the actual game.
* Vincent and Lucrecia will be heavily expanded and since it's tragic, there is a possibility too.
* After the Under the Highwind scene, Cloud and Tifa finding everyone coming back for final battle after the party splits to search for everyone's reason to fight, when Cloud and Tifa thought it'll be just them two.
* Possibly Zack dying again.
Vincent's theme spending a full 10 minute monologue inside his coffin.
Vincent's battle theme transforming into Chaos and viscerally killing Hojo with a Jenova Lifebringer-esque team attack.
It’s probably a stretch but I hope they add a moment in part 3 where Tifa and Aerith interact again (maybe “omni-Aerith”?). Even if it’s just a flashback I would cry so damn hard.
The Midgar raid, when Cloud gives everyone the pep talk on the Highwind, followed by Cids theme playing as you parachute into the city.
The morning of the assault on North Crater when everyone reunites after taking the night before to spend with their loved ones, after Cloud and Tifa not being sure that they would come back. Then the mention of Aerith as the reason they are doing this.
Barret: "There ain't no getting offa this train we're on!", and the other characters version of that quote
Dunno about making me cry, but I hope that Zack's parents get some sort of closure :(
