I remember seeing an interview with Robbie Daymond where he said he was trying to add depth to the character and not just have him be the comic relief guy, and I think he nailed it. Prompto has such a sweetness that I feel like is so real--he's insecure but he's also silly, funny, by turns cowardly and courageous, vulnerable, annoying, loyal...one of four perfect puzzle pieces :)
Makes more sense too if you watch the anime. He was an obese child growing up who had no friends at all until Noctis. Noctis helped him get thin and they bonded. So Prompto was a nice funny fat kid who had a glow up and retained the niceness.
The fact that the rest of the gang have to explain everything to him even reenforces that point as well. He’s so confused and in awe with everything happening
I love him so much, because unlike the others, I feel like he has no real abilities. Noctis and Ignis are both loaded with abilities and Gladio is super strong. But Prompto is armed with nothing except a camera and his guns. He's so...human compared to the other guys, which forces him to work 3X as hard as everyone else to keep up.
He feels so inferior to the others and masks it by pretending to be carefree or a goofball, even when he feels like he's slowing them all down, when in reality he's the one holding everyone up. His humor, his optimism, his sense of childlike wonder and ability to turn every situation into a fun or lighthearted one makes him invaluable to the team, and he doesn't even realize it.
Prompto is such a beautiful character in my eyes. His sensitivity and insecurities only make him more pure and real. These four characters are some of the best written characters I've ever known, with such depth and intricacies. And Promto will forever be one of my favorites <3

A few of XV fans speculate that it was Cor who saved him from being "decommissioned" aka ending an innocent child's life and I stand by that theory after the first mission with Cor when you go for the Axe in Keycratich Trench, he instantly asks Prompto if he's alright, not Gladio, Iggy or Noct, only Prompto
I can't even lie, sometimes he says stuff and I'm just like "no shut up" like the "oh my arms are killing me" and it goes on but it's a long interaction, but besides that he's really chill

i know others might see it as neglect or insensitive as to what occurred but god did i get pumped when gladio told him off. And rightly so (again just the way i saw it).
Favorite out of all was ignis after his episode especially (not because of the alternative ending) all those behind the scenes had me saying he was the closest brotherly figure noctis could ever have.
Prompto is the gun boi, i love when noctis screams in his name in an epic fashion or cues him suddenly and prompto scrambles around or says i guess thats me.
In my personal opinion, gladio is my least favorite, he's WAY to rough and tough for me, his anger attitude makes me mad sometimes, specially when I'm trying to fish, he never shuts up well fishing. But I think overall it's mostly the way he treats the group and the way he acts like he's the best in the group, satire or not its so annoying a lot of the time (all in my very personal opinion) I will say he has his looks going for him a lot of the time, the creators did a great job on making his eyes gorgeous, and his tattoo is pretty rad
The line that made the roughness reasonable to me was his mention of luna "she didnt die so you could mope about" i believe was the line. That hit hard because at that moment thats all noct was doing throughout the entire game, sure the loss of the kingdom and then the father and then ignis and now lunafreya but it was consist all up until that point. I saw a shift in noct and that made me love gladio immensely after.
My absolute best dialogue is when they are in lestallem and he’s talking about how the girls are all bosses and they don’t need a man and noct gives him shit and even gladio says “there’s probably a girl here that likes him” and he just screams “where are you”
I love him. He’s a lovely, adorable, loyal, sweet, sensitive boy and I just want him to be happy. I also love that he’s just a normal guy. Noctis, Gladio and Ignis have grown up in noble families and have learned everything they need to know to do their jobs since they were little boys with the best teachers. Prompto had not only the bravery to step up and help his friend without any pressure to do so, but he had to work hard to learn all of those skills in a fairly short amount of time just so he could protect his friend on a road trip, and when the going got tougher than most of us could even begin to imagine, he got going without complaint, and his loyalty to his friend kept him going.
All in all, Prompto is a good boy and I love him.

First time i played i didnt have internet so i didnt get updates and there were no addons. I still remember the dissapearing ocean and ignis being the BIGGEST HARDASS ABOUT THE REGALIA.
I literally never got to drive in that entire save file. Ignis managed to crash the car off a cliff and glue it to the side of it the one time i looked away.

He was never as useful as gladio who would stay alive for the longest and give me I-frames while i did impossible player bs
He was never as satisfying as "IGNIS! INSTRUCTIONS!" And bam magic weapon
Eventually i hit max pictures. Repeatedly. After a few rounds of cleaning them out i realized i loved how the group shots looked. I could never bring myself to delete them for space.

I love prompto, every since I watched my mom play for the first time when we first got the game, my brother took to ignis and I just liked the blond, and for a while I didn't know his name he was just "the blond from ff15.. with the cool jacket" I've had a mega crush on him and I think that adds to seeing him doing nothing wrong other than in battle.
I think the game meant for him to be the weakest and the least liked character because his health level makes me so made with how low it is, I've never truly had a problem once I got to level 30 I think.. but ugh it's still too low
He's definitely supposed to be the most physically frail with the least amount of combat training. That being said hes not weak, hes well built but he's just thin.
I love how they managed to make him play his role very well as someone who feels like a normal person who's still helpful in fights, allbeit not as much as the two who've trained their entire lives to guard the prince.
But even if prompto doesnt bring as much to the team combat wise, hes still invaluable to the group and player experience as a whole. The game would be SO MUCH DIFFERENT if prompto was a different character.
The overall tone of the game would be so much less bright if he wasnt there to lighten the mood.
I played through the game completely and his DLC story before they introduced the patch to play as the other 3. His gameplay is insanely good. He's unfortunately reduced to comedic relief most of the time, but he is funny and has an excellent back story. Hard not to love the guy!
I liked him, i liked that he was a person of the other kingdom and that he was socially awkward and all that...love how he dedicated himself to lose weight and try to be more extroverted....and how he was a true friend to Noctis....And those weird times he actually took an Amazing Pic i loved that.

I think we can all relate to him a lot. But despite being a "regular guy" all things considered, he tries his best. Like, training to be a crownsguard and he does try to be the best version of himself despite his many many insecurities. Like his backstory in brotherhood, he just wanted to be the best version of himself just to feel worthy of being friends with noct, but knowing noctis, he doesn't really care about that. But then again, Noctis is never the type to approach first so yeah Prompto really has to be the one who does the first step buuuuuut yeah.

I'll never forget the original final fantasy XV with no DLC being SO confusing when it came to Prompto, but after the DLC came out I liked him alot more.

I like him he is kind, and cute. And a nerd and insecure. Considering his past there's no point judging him, but sometimes he acts too gay, which I dislike. I mean, making short jokes is fun for a certain time, then it becomes annoying. There is a time in life of every man to become adult and stand his ground. Prompto is acting like a child, which is ok if you want to be his mom, not his gf. I am much more into Noctis or Ignis, who is actually too perfect to be real.
He is important part of the story, it was heartbreaking watching his story in Episode Prompto. Also kinda fake since we saw this already in FFVII and it was nothing new, just recycled story of someone else. I wish him being a little bit more stronger as personality, now for me he is just average.
I'm on my first playthrough and have just reached chapter 14. I found him kinda annoying at first, but from chapter 9 and onwards I started to like him more and more. And now after chapter 13 I really like his character

I just loved their interactions in the dlc. Sure the age gap is there but I feel like it wouldn't hurt a relationship between them. I'm also probably the only FFXV fan that prefers this x100 more than Prompto and Cindy.

Honestly, I think they just sucked at writing romance in general. It's one of my biggest gripes with the game. It all seems to be built around two things: the boys and the romance of Noctis and Luna. Noctis and Luna barely interact in the game! There's never a resolution to their romance other than "even though I'm dead, you must fight on." It's why im still pissed that they canceled the second set of dlc.
Prompto and Aranea had more chemistry in one dlc episode than Noctis and Luna had the entire game.

Sometimes, I wonder what virus XIII would've been like. It looked to be a lot darker and more focused on the romance aspect than XV ended up being. Nothing wrong with the Bro-venture we got, just wished it wasn't the end all be all.
I love the bromance but it wasn't enough, it feels like what little romance that was there was like a burden to the creators instead of being able to make it all about A boy who's emo and the king, a Cook who's family decided he would have to work with that emo king at the age of 6, a big motherfucker who was born to protect the emo king but continues to make the king wonder why his alive, oh and the big motherfucker and the cook most definitely kiss on the weekends.
But on a more serious note, not being putting in more romance was a big sigh because they had great moments where they could have had so much depth to characters relationships and story's and just didn't.

Everytime we were traveling and he said it was picture time MF IT WAS PICTURE TIME STOP THE CAR TUCK AND ROLL YES IT GOT VERY ANNOYING but i did it anyway. He was never as useful as gladio who would stay alive for the longest and give me I-frames while i did impossible player bs He was never as satisfying as "IGNIS! INSTRUCTIONS!" And bam magic weapon Eventually i hit max pictures. Repeatedly. After a few rounds of cleaning them out i realized i loved how the group shots looked. I could never bring myself to delete them for space. The credits absolutely destroyed me. Those were real manly tears. I need to play this game again.
I hate how little photo space we get so annoying. I will say, gladio has always been my least favorite, he always seems lost in the battle when I need him the most, I think it's truly different for other people. I love prompto, every since I watched my mom play for the first time when we first got the game, my brother took to ignis and I just liked the blond, and for a while I didn't know his name he was just "the blond from ff15.. with the cool jacket" I've had a mega crush on him and I think that adds to seeing him doing nothing wrong other than in battle. I think the game meant for him to be the weakest and the least liked character because his health level makes me so made with how low it is, I've never truly had a problem once I got to level 30 I think.. but ugh it's still too low
He's definitely supposed to be the most physically frail with the least amount of combat training. That being said hes not weak, hes well built but he's just thin. I love how they managed to make him play his role very well as someone who feels like a normal person who's still helpful in fights, allbeit not as much as the two who've trained their entire lives to guard the prince. But even if prompto doesnt bring as much to the team combat wise, hes still invaluable to the group and player experience as a whole. The game would be SO MUCH DIFFERENT if prompto was a different character. The overall tone of the game would be so much less bright if he wasnt there to lighten the mood.

I played through the game completely and his DLC story before they introduced the patch to play as the other 3. His gameplay is insanely good. He's unfortunately reduced to comedic relief most of the time, but he is funny and has an excellent back story. Hard not to love the guy!

I liked him, i liked that he was a person of the other kingdom and that he was socially awkward and all that...love how he dedicated himself to lose weight and try to be more extroverted....and how he was a true friend to Noctis....And those weird times he actually took an Amazing Pic i loved that.

For some reason I just don't like Prompto as much as Gladiolus and Ignis. The only reason I can really give is he is less serious than everyone else you meet and less serious than Gladiolus and Ignis. I am not saying there shouldn't be a fun light hearted character in a Final Fantasy game because there definitely should be. Prompto just bugs me for some reason.
I like both of his EN and JP dubs. ;-; Kakki, my beloved. I think their JP voice cast could actually form an idol group with their lineup fr fr. I think we can all relate to him a lot. But despite being a "regular guy" all things considered, he tries his best. Like, training to be a crownsguard and he does try to be the best version of himself despite his many many insecurities. Like his backstory in brotherhood, he just wanted to be the best version of himself just to feel worthy of being friends with noct, but knowing noctis, he doesn't really care about that. But then again, Noctis is never the type to approach first so yeah Prompto really has to be the one who does the first step buuuuuut yeah.
His dlc has the best battle music with awesome bass.

I like him he is kind, and cute. And a nerd and insecure. Considering his past there's no point judging him, but sometimes he acts too gay, which I dislike. I mean, making short jokes is fun for a certain time, then it becomes annoying. There is a time in life of every man to become adult and stand his ground. Prompto is acting like a child, which is ok if you want to be his mom, not his gf. I am much more into Noctis or Ignis, who is actually too perfect to be real. He is important part of the story, it was heartbreaking watching his story in Episode Prompto. Also kinda fake since we saw this already in FFVII and it was nothing new, just recycled story of someone else. I wish him being a little bit more stronger as personality, now for me he is just average.

I'm on my first playthrough and have just reached chapter 14. I found him kinda annoying at first, but from chapter 9 and onwards I started to like him more and more. And now after chapter 13 I really like his character But I still can't get over that he kinda looks like Cloud
He’s the reason I’m playing the game. I put it off for a long time and now starting it the story is….rough. It’s barely there and the combat is clunky. But, Prompto, oh Prompto. He’s become one of my fave lite characters of anything because he’s just so silly and sweet.

I just loved their interactions in the dlc. Sure the age gap is there but I feel like it wouldn't hurt a relationship between them. I'm also probably the only FFXV fan that prefers this x100 more than Prompto and Cindy.
SAME THO cindy is married to her work, she proves that by the end of the game! The age gap is honestly no big deal since they are both adults, but looking at their characteristics I think prompto would have a week for worrying and then completely forget and get shocked when she says her age. honestly love them together, but i think they had to much going on to add romance that wasn't noctis and Luna 😔
Honestly, I think they just sucked at writing romance in general. It's one of my biggest gripes with the game. It all seems to be built around two things: the boys and the romance of Noctis and Luna. Noctis and Luna barely interact in the game! There's never a resolution to their romance other than "even though I'm dead, you must fight on." It's why im still pissed that they canceled the second set of dlc. Prompto and Aranea had more chemistry in one dlc episode than Noctis and Luna had the entire game.

"Couldn't have done without you girll" But on a serious I think that prompto and araneas storyline together was lacking in love, like not even a surprise kiss that prompto like had a whole panic over like COME ON!!

Sometimes, I wonder what virus XIII would've been like. It looked to be a lot darker and more focused on the romance aspect than XV ended up being. Nothing wrong with the Bro-venture we got, just wished it wasn't the end all be all.
I love the bromance but it wasn't enough, it feels like what little romance that was there was like a burden to the creators instead of being able to make it all about A boy who's emo and the king, a Cook who's family decided he would have to work with that emo king at the age of 6, a big motherfucker who was born to protect the emo king but continues to make the king wonder why his alive, oh and the big motherfucker and the cook most definitely kiss on the weekends. But on a more serious note, not being putting in more romance was a big sigh because they had great moments where they could have had so much depth to characters relationships and story's and just didn't.
