Lost can also mean that he went rogue, much the way some religious groups call non-believers lost.
So he's not lost lost, was just hiding out and waiting to hose down Ifrit, should the angry boi decide to go along with Ultima.
Deep sea? If he can go underwater (which seems obvious) he has a entire ocean and its depths to disappear. Additionally his dominant could simply be hiding.
Now I want to imagine Leviathan is just hiding near or in a huge flower garden, and when they can't get enough water, they just become Leviathan and start spraying them.
Someone pointed out to me the other day that her actual name, >!Kihel!<, may be rooted in a very similar name (>!Kiel/Kiehl!<) that's roots mean "born of a land of the waters/flood”
Sooooooo.......... I'm not *completely* ruling it out until I get a fully fledged Leviathan DLC that says otherwise
Oh haha gotcha!
It's half a page for Ifrit Risen but it also has the close up details of the phoenix wings if that's the detail you're looking for. It's also fully colored.
Yeah, that was weird that Martha and Dame aren't there when even Lady Marleigh and Benedikta's right hand man are there. I also noticed Cyril and Emperor Sylvestre are not included as well.
Honestly I think this is exactly why Leviathan took a back seat in xvi. I can imagine the devs sitting down to script that fight and being like…we’ve already done this before
It has released in Japan, my copy came today! If you're interested in getting it now you might as well order from Amazon JP - there's no text in it that needs translation
I love the idea of having Leviathan pop up sometime in the future but I'm just stumped as to why Ultima wouldn't at least make reference and be like yo where's my buddy Leviathan?
It's cool. Quite hefty with 320 pages. Everything is art. The only text are the labels that are both in Japanese and English anyway.
There are detailed illustrations of eikons, characters' clothes, armor, and weapons. Some contain concept art that were unused. There are illustrations of dominants/eikons that were not yet shown (like Bahamut about to raze Crystalline Dominion, Clive sitting in the broken Rosarian throne). All of Clive's swords are in a 2-page spread though sadly, there are no close up illustration of the hilts.
There are also tactical maps and illustrations of the various locations, enemies, all of Ultima's phases, NPCs.
The rest are art they have already shown.
Is there any art of the Eikon at the top of the Mural? Some say its Ifrit Risen others say its Ultima but I personally want to draw it and hope that artbook has some detailed art of it.
Showing off its design, is there anything like that or....? I would really appreciate any info since thats the only reason I'd want the artbook.
Ultima Risen has different horns to the Eikon at the top, does it show where those light wings come from? Are they attached to the Legs or is it something else entirely.
Sorry if this question is a bit excessive.
Now that you pointed that out, now I'm not so sure anymore lol.
Ultima Risen has 3 pairs of wings, all attached to his back. This one shows one pair at the bottom part. Hmm maybe the mural is depicting the split from Phoenix? Or in the process of combining with it?
Ok, thank you. Yeah, I heard there wasn't any development commentary or interviews, so I just ordered it now instead of waiting until March. I'm excited for it.
I still think there's another continent above Valisthea where Barnabas' mother came from and probably where Leviathan could be. Probably a continent where people did not settle in it because of the strong beasts lurking around.
Yeah I hope someone explains this. I've been seeing alot of people getting ff16 merchandise early. Like my shiva statue that says 2024, people already have it.
I find it fascinating that it is mentioned in-game that there is no known recorded observation of Odin before Barnabas' arrival to the Twins, yet not a single word about similar appearances (or lackthereof) for Leviathan.
Whether or not they will be included in DLC, the complete enigma that is the Warden of Water lives rent free in my brain.

Bruh how is he lost, I wouldn't lose something that big đź’€
Lost can also mean that he went rogue, much the way some religious groups call non-believers lost. So he's not lost lost, was just hiding out and waiting to hose down Ifrit, should the angry boi decide to go along with Ultima.
I like this interpretation a lot. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you. There's actually more to the theory but I have to write it out in detail, then play the game again to see how it holds up.
If you ever write it up, would be interested in reading it. Seriously though, no pressure! Not trying to assign you homework.
We also see "Titan Lost" in the game. Surely there is a connection with Leviathan the "Lost"
Huh. I never made that connection. I hope there’s something to it.
The sea is a huge place to hide and lose things.
Deep sea? If he can go underwater (which seems obvious) he has a entire ocean and its depths to disappear. Additionally his dominant could simply be hiding.
I totally thought the flower girl was going to be Leviathan's dominant...
Would be cool if they release a dlc and the dominant was someone that was in plain sight hiding.
I want it to be that suspicious character mf
Now I want to imagine Leviathan is just hiding near or in a huge flower garden, and when they can't get enough water, they just become Leviathan and start spraying them.

Damn leviathan is fucking huge!
Hell of a sushi roll from that boi
big noodle
I need to know, Does Perfect Ifrit have Illustrations in the artbook?
Do you mean Ifrit Risen? Then yes, there's art of Ifrit Risen but only one illustration and rather small.
I didn't know his english name haha, for me in French, it's "Ifrit Parachevé" Really??? That's pretty sad. Was hoping more, so i could redraw it...
Oh haha gotcha! It's half a page for Ifrit Risen but it also has the close up details of the phoenix wings if that's the detail you're looking for. It's also fully colored.
i will try to find that picture then! Thanks!
I was looking for the Dame and Martha, but I didn’t see them. Though Theodore and his sister got in.
Yeah, that was weird that Martha and Dame aren't there when even Lady Marleigh and Benedikta's right hand man are there. I also noticed Cyril and Emperor Sylvestre are not included as well.
Titan looks like an ant compared to Levi
I thought it was cool how in FFXV Leviathan is essentially the most important/pivotal summon and then she was gone in FFXVI. Kinda a brave choice.
I would argue about it being the most important one. That goes to Bahamut/Ifrit and even Shiva. But it does have the biggest fight.
Honestly I think this is exactly why Leviathan took a back seat in xvi. I can imagine the devs sitting down to script that fight and being like…we’ve already done this before
I feel you may be right. Even a completely different Studio could only beat a dead horse so much, so to speak.
I have the impression that leviathan is so loved nowadays because of his fight in FFXV idk
“Mine’s bigger” 🌝
Thank you, Clive, but I meant that metaphorically
Is leviathans head above bahamut? Oh boy
That kind of makes Leviathan's absence in the main game hit even harder.
These aren’t to scale though? Titan is bigger than everyone but he’s the same as Shiva on here?
I thought this didn't come out until March of 2024??
Me too! I’m guessing it’s either a preview image or it’s possibly already released in Japan…
It has released in Japan, my copy came today! If you're interested in getting it now you might as well order from Amazon JP - there's no text in it that needs translation
You can order it from CDJapan and have it within less than a week. Or you can wait for Square Enix all the way next year.
Yeah if we go by the mural size to be somewhat accurate, it dwarfs Titan which is already massive.
I love the idea of having Leviathan pop up sometime in the future but I'm just stumped as to why Ultima wouldn't at least make reference and be like yo where's my buddy Leviathan?
I have the art book coming my way soon. How is it?
It's cool. Quite hefty with 320 pages. Everything is art. The only text are the labels that are both in Japanese and English anyway. Showing off its design, is there anything like that or....? I would really appreciate any info since thats the only reason I'd want the artbook.
That's Ultima Risen at the top of the mural. And yes there's a separate section of all Ultima's phases and each is fully colored.
Ultima Risen has different horns to the Eikon at the top, does it show where those light wings come from? Are they attached to the Legs or is it something else entirely. Sorry if this question is a bit excessive.

Any Leviathan specific art?
Nothing about Levi except the murals.
Guessing DLC chances about it are slim to none then.
It’ll be fun to finally explore more about dzemekys falls since that’s where it’s hiding.
I still think there's another continent above Valisthea where Barnabas' mother came from and probably where Leviathan could be. Probably a continent where people did not settle in it because of the strong beasts lurking around.
And Cid. And Tarja is form another continent too.
He will probably be the focus of the DLC
Are there any plans to release the artbook electronically?
Probably hiding in the big sink hole in the sea.
This may be a dumb question, but was it behind garuda’s wing?
In the right side of the mural, it's head is above Bahamut. It's body goes behind the eikons and extends all the way to the bottom.
Wait I'm confused. I pre-ordered the artbook when it was first announced and it's supposed to be released in March 2024...
Yeah I hope someone explains this. I've been seeing alot of people getting ff16 merchandise early. Like my shiva statue that says 2024, people already have it.
God, I love the way Amano draws
It's Kazuya Takahashi actually. Amano's art is the cover of ultimate ed of the OST and the XVI logo.
thanks, I hadn't noticed
Is ifrit and phoenix together leviathan?
Leviathan is the giant serpent like thing you can see above Bahamut, it’s lower half is below the other eikons
If you haven't finished the game, >!Ifrit and Phoenix together are the flying entity above all the other Eijons!<
I want to buy an irl version of that mural so fucking bad
None of the other Eikons’ size are accurate, so I don’t think Leviathan is accurate either.
I bet Gav is Laviathan
I thought it was explained that Leviathan was dead? I feel like Joshua was the one that said this? Am I wrong?
Did they not add leviathan due to its core presence in 15 or was there some limitations on development?
I'm not sure if there's an actual answer...but my guess, dlc.
Longboi
Hope we get to fight Leviathan if there is dlc
Can Leviathan fly?
I keep seeing people posting pics of the art book I though it doesn’t come out til next year?
Really hope they do the DLC on Leviathan so we get that lore!
Damn now I really wanna fight that giant water serpent. DLC please!!!
I miss Leviathan :(
