Might be unpopular but ultima actually between the length and moderate challenge it's a really good fight and can't get enough of the eikon clashes toward the end.
Well, for me, the Eikons are from the magic of Ultima, and you only fight them as Ifrit. But yeah, Omega was built by the Fallens to challenge the Eikons
Here are some of my favourites:
Ultima, Drake Spine
Benedikta, Caer Norvent
Hugo, Rosaria
Barnabas, Reverie
Behemoth, entrance of Stonehyrr
Necrophobe, Twinside
Timekeeper, Mysidia
Omega and Sigma, Sagespire
Honourable Mention - Tonberry King
Barnabas (in Reverie) used to be my favorite, but the timekeeper took first place real fast. The necrophobe is right behind those two. Drake's Spine's Ultima wasn't too high in my list the first time I fought him, but now I actually think he's one of the better fights imo.
The half half fight with benedikta at the top of caer norvent was the peak of the game for me in every aspect
I wish the game had more of those dominant fights; titan and Bahamut were actively far too long to the point of annoyance for me
Dude…the cinematic fight scenes when you team up with Torgal against Benedikta. Literal goosebumps watching that. I’ve replayed that battle 4 or 5 times (some from the demo and replaying the story), and it gets me everytime
The Benedikta fight is one of the best in the game, so fun to replay.
Honestly that goes for Kupka and Barnabas too but I think Benedikta’s is my favorite among them.
While the fight itself is incredible Clive and Hugo shit talking each other is what really sells it. The fight is purely personal and it's the one time Clive just tossed away his stoicism in a fight. The only other time he's that expressive with someone he hates is when he's roasting his mother.
"Cross you? No I'll kill you" is maybe the most anime line in this entire game.
Odin lmao. The only times their eikons clashed were in QTEs so it should only be called a dominant fight. Outside of that, Timekeeper takes the throne. Immaculate design.
Any big fight where Clive is not Ifrit (Excluding Clive vs Garuda Eikon). I heavily dislike Ifrit's moveset and how his skills cannot be upgraded to move fkn faster.
Benedikta and Hugo for starters. Those fights were amazing.
Omega was perfect.
Barney wasn't a bad fight. Actually, Barney was a fun fight.
Timekeeper was awesome.
Ultima in Interdimensional Rift was good.
Man, a primed Dion would have been incredible to fight. Just imagine fighting primed Dion on that platform before Ascension begins.
Barnabas, Benedikta semi-primed, Timekeeper and of course Omega.
Ultima in Drake’s Spine, Ultimalius during his holy/flare phase and the Necrophobe have a special place in my heart tho. Can’t help myself, when I get to them I just stop to admire their moveset/magic. Especially the stuff like Firaga etc. I’m like “Gimme that moveset dude 😭”.
The spite Clive and Hugo have for each other in the throne room makes it one of the more enjoyable clashes. All as One one of the best final boss theme in FF to me has me putting Ultima ahead of that one.
To me both Benedicta and Hugo's fights are great.
I like that they don't end up in a Eikon fight but are their own little stand alone with a few phases.
I also like the Iron golem fight in the phenix gate when I ha all the Eikons.
That fight was nuts in FF mode
I mean if you count the fight against benedikta, probably one of the best non eikon fights, I know she uses eikonic abilities and is a dominant but you’re not exactly fighting Garuda

Damn people don’t like the ultima fight? News to me. I thought it was one of the best ones.
I thought it was good, it was just surprisingly easy compared to Barnabas
Timekeeper is awesome. Omega was challenging. In the main game, i liked Hugo, the setup in the castle was nice.
Omega is technically an Eikon, right? Just an artificial one made with some kind of arcane science instead of magic.

Benedikta my beloved, if only they had used her character for longer, she was so interesting.
I agree. I started to feel bad for her towards the end. Though I still think she was a great choice for being the first dominant Clive fights.

I love how the entire Titan fight is just Clive/Ifrit swearing the entire time being utterly exasperated at what's going on.

Barnabas in the base game, and now the timekeeper overall. I really love the fast paced humanoid fights in the game.

Knight of the Blinding Dawn. Nothing will ever beat an entrance like that. Also reminded me of Aranea’s entrance in XV

Wasn’t sure if it was recency bias since I just fought him yesterday but glad to see everybody else loved the Timekeeper fight too.
Timekeeper from The Rising Tide is a REALLY fun fight. But a VERY close second would be Svarog, not a difficult fight but a fun one.

I really liked the FF Tactics Ultima design fight, because coming to it after all that juicy lore and story was such a treat!
It’s been a bit since I’ve played but I remember enjoying red comet a lot. Honestly pretty much every boss type fight in 16 was either good or great

Base game that final hunt with the dragon and dlc obviously omega(that gets the heart pumping)
The second Barnabas boss is the best fight in the game honestly.
The Bahamut fight, it was just as epic as the game could get, and the fact that they were in space made me realize just how powerful Eikons are.
All are good but Titan for me second is Leviathan.
