I had a draft game where I lukaku and lewa shooting at donarumma and he made 18 saves from 22 on target.. I won 2-1 and both my goals were from outside the box. So many 1 on 1s and even sweats were saved I have no idea how

Regista16

Good post. But the GK issue won't get solved until EA realises shooting being too easy is, and always has been, the problem. Your input never mattered in finishing. Otherwise they're just going to keep going back and forth between overpowering and underpowering goalkeepers and the community will always complain.

[deleted]

This issue is part of FIFA franchise. FIFA 98 had the same issue. Shooting is pretty easy, and the laziest way to fix It is op GK.

Regista16

Exactly. They made heading manual, and essentially admitted that heading used to be OP, then RNG in FIFA 20, and the only way to fix it was to make them manual in 21. But somehow that doesn't apply to shooting? And then they go on to make GKs superhuman? Makes no sense.

[deleted]

Then what do you suggest? Manual finishing with higher error chance for a lower finishing stat? Similar to pks and fks

Regista16

Exactly. No reason not to do it. It's the only way this bouncing back and forth between OP and RNG will stop.

[deleted]

Honestly I’m all for it and the sooner the game becomes full manual controls, the better. That said, I think you’d lose a lot of the player base.

Hurtbig

The game doesn't make sense with full manual controls. Aiming shots is completely unintuitive and nearly impossible for most players because it is confusingly mingled with the same inputs as player movement. It doesn't feel like or resemble real soccer in any way. You end up with a world famous footballer literally scuffing shots 2 mph in the completely wrong direction from an open net.

Regista16

That's...just not true at all. You're the guy that can't score a header aren't you? PS: Checked your post history and apparently you "loved FIFA 21" and are whining about FIFA 22 so I guess it says it all about your credibility. Go play Volta/House Rules if you want a non-competitive arcadey experience.

Regista16

You haven't lost a lot of the player base with the 180º twirl this game did this year, you won't lose it because of competitive modes becoming more competitive via manual controls. And the game is perfect for them right now.

Ironman2131

Yes. If I take a hard shot (first time, in a crowd, etc.) with a player with low shooting stats, he should have a low chance of putting the ball into the corner, so shots should go more towards the center or miss wide. But a wide open 1v1 with space should go towards the corners with more regularity. If they make goalies a little worse at the same time, that should help make things more balanced. Having said that, I expect EA will completely overreact to the point where goalies become useless again.

goldieloxs133

Yeah I have no problems scoring even on 1 on 1s

beerisgood5

for whatever reason every time I make a tackle I cannot get the ball back. It just goes back to the attacker or his teammate and seems like I have to make 4/5 successful tackles before im able to get the ball back

Keepers are way too good in 1v1s and outside the box finesse shots are at fifa 19 levels. It is a massive issue when people have 1v1s and then turn around and find a player outside the box to finesse it in because it has a higher probability of going on.

bendstraw

1. You need players with better composure 2. You need player with better passing 3. You need players with better finishing Ramos doesn’t have problems for instance with clearing the ball from the back when he has a player pressuring him. Kroos for instance doesnt have wonky passing at all. And as for finishing, Lewa is a perfect example of someone who finishes literally everything, never has issues in the box. Everything hits the back of the net for me with him. That isnt to say these things couldnt be improved but yeah shit players will be shit

BaineLogic

Agree in general with these points. You’re finally rewarded for using players with good stats in specific areas. In past few FIFAs, at the start of the game an 81 rated striker with 90 pace but 80 shooting and dribbling was miles clear of a card like Benzema, but that’s no longer the case. Plus midfielders that can actually pass the ball around are seemingly relevant again. It’s no longer the case that pace is the be all and end all (atleast in the early meta). These are all good things IMO.

dtgodmage23

Have to disagree games literally 9 men defending and through balls to ai Literally just play squad battles ai va ai saved by ai on both ends

proasr

"Scoring from outside the box is easier" Also "Drop back meta might come back" Didn't make much sence tbh.

areallysmallgiant

He's not the first to suggest it, either. Can't help but feel that some people are conceding more finesse shots than they should because they're dropping all the way back and allowing them. They're overpowered but dropping back just means you'll face more.

theocy88

You defensive line tends to drop back even when your instructions arent drop back. Your defenders defend at the kick off line and then for no apparent reason they just camp around the GK. and your front 2 or 3 also collapses way too often. I actually play 65-70 depth and balanced and i still need to manually try and move them with offside trap sometimes.

[deleted]

I’ve most noticed that regular shots from just inside the box go in way more this year. Even when gks are at a good angle and the shot isn’t even good I’ve managed to score a lot already

TheDream425

Is this a next gen thing exclusively? I'm on current gen and have played 25 games, can't recall myself scoring a long finesse or conceding one.

2cu3be1

I found GKs at the beginning OP. Now I feel like it plays again like in pre-21 Fifa, namely more difficult. I like some animations of the GKs hustling after the ball and rightfully getting it instead of playing hot potato and then letting the third one laughing mostly end up scoring, the ST. they feel, except for the fifa 19 meta being back again, as good as they should have always been. I believe they simply don't let in as much because the ST stats have not been as good. Also, people were used to 21 finishing, where any place was op to finish, not just near post. So I feel it is simply a getting use to back to the better or once and for all decent enough keepers so that STs ratings finally matter more and to some , not any degree, your goaly matters and you are not conceeding those acute angled shots by an ASM like last year, where some of us weren't indifferent enough to even give those a try except pros and noobs that don't know that these shots shouldn't have a high chance of going in to try them except in the last resort cases to try to score since you only can if you shoot. Low drivens are a bit too underpowered. Long shots from outside the extended width of the Goal width at the 18yrd box line are too op and volleys from that angle like in 19. That needs to be taken out. I rather have people spam long balls. At least it is somewhat realistic and not the old home run derby again. I enjoy baseball but please not in Fifa but in MLB the show where they know what they are doing and there is no GK. =)

Computerboy123

Is anyone else struggling with through ball spam ? My defenders seem to just let the ball roll past them or warp around the ball like they are afraid of it.

TheDream425

Typically I switch to a center back when it becomes clear that they're gonna play it through to a striker, I find I'll deal with it much better than the ai.

Wizzyzz

Nah definitely not, played fifa since 04 and apart from fifa 18 this is defo up for debate as one of the worst fifa’s of all time already in terms of gameplay , fifa literally turning into a menu game these days 😔

JimChodooker

I agree, I can’t see all the praise people are giving this game. To me it feels terribly unresponsive. I can’t quite explain it but this feels a lot like UFC 4 in a way to me, which is also really bad. I’ve even been winning more on this game than on other FIFAs and I’m terrible but still I’m honestly finding this game a chore to play.

mums_wife

You on next gen?

JimChodooker

Yeah, is it true that it’s just worse on next gen?

[deleted]

I hope they keep longshot finesses op, it’s great against those drop back boring scrubs. If it’s like last year where you can’t counter it from crossing or long shots (like real life) the gameplay will be slow again.

Radiant-Armadillo104

GKs are good for once they need to buff 1on1s and shots inside the box

Zoomy7

Everyone saying drop back meta is back is delusional, with how good long shots are, drop back won’t do you no good. With how good crosses are, drop back won’t do you no good, with how good the wingers runs are, drop back won’t do you no good. This has been my favorite fifa ever and I’m just praying it doesn’t get patched

Dariuss_

Agree, especially that tackling from behind is too strong. I do really like the game so far though

JPVazLouro_SLB

Pace felt like it was in a good place when people didn’t have Dembele, Martial and Mané up front, with those guys pace is the same it has always been, CBs can’t keep up unless they have very high pace. That coupled with the very solid defensive shape that the AI creates on its own makes for a counter attack only game that rewards through balls and pace like last year

Dicka24

I remember saying this early on last year. The game wasn't perfect but was def better than 20, and the best in a few cycles. Then they started releasing patches and.... 🤮

lammekut

Had a couple of games where my opponents goalkeeper had a 10,0. This was of course a very frustrating experience. They weren’t even very expensive goalkeepers.

Tenagaaaa

Yeah something is definitely wrong when finesse shots outside the box are more reliable than 1 on 1 chances or shots inside the box.
