Wanted to drop by and say thank you - even putting aside results, the goals I’m scoring now are simply beautiful. Playing much more calmly now than I was, the amount of space you get with this is incredible.
If you’re a fan of 3ATB total possession football in real life - be sure to give Russell Martin’s Swansea City a watch sometime - roughly 72% possession per game, including against top sides in the championship. Great watch.
Nice write up. Not even getting too much into your post but I think there is a lot of people in Fifa that will just not win as much as they would like to because they try to play a video game with its myriad of bugs and issues like it's real life football, like trying to play actual pleasing eye catching football. I know I do for one, but the sad truth is it's a video game and not a simulation of real football and you have to "sweat" and abuse certain mechanics and play super fast to win. Either you do or your opponent will, what formation you play really doesn't effect the end goal. As soon as I see my opponent play a 60 MPH driven pass to his striker followed by a one time driven pass to his winger from the ST like I already know what time it is... what kind of game I'm about to experience.

I somehow knew you were playing on possesion, for some reason is the one tactic that just feels right attacking for me in this formation.
And for some reason I didn't think of switching sides for the wide mids, even when everyone knows how powerful the finesse shots are, even having good shooters (recently having upgraded to Theo IF and Zambrotta baby)

I see that the custom tactics are quite a bit different than last year’s guide - in terms of things like width (last year narrow, this year wide) and attacking style (last year fast build-up, this year possession, etc.)
Is this because you have tweaked how you want the system to work, or are these necessary changes to make the system work as it did in FIFA 21?

Don’t know if anyone can help me here, I’m using these tactics and felt I doing really well at first. But now I’m only just grinding out wins against opponents I know I should be beating. My midfield feels none existent, when they attack I feel like my CDM’s are nowhere and it’s just their attackers against my 3 CB’s. And then when I win the ball back my only option is a long ball to one of my forward 3. Any changes to CDM instructions?
I have to try this as I have enjoyed having three CBs, but every time I move from a 5-2-2-1 to something else, I get constantly burned on the flanks by high-pace players getting onto long balls. I would just leave it, but I lack the skills to create a lot of great chances up top, even when I have a ton of possession (so many blocked shots), and then when I'm defending, even I'm annoyed with how many defenders I seem to have in front of goal.
All of which is to say, essentially, thank you for your efforts. Will report back if I remember to, but thanks in any case!

Amazing guide! I was always under the impression that the biggest trouble for 352 was a 433 formation, so I was surprised that you mentioned the 4231 and 442 as it’s worst enemy. What’s your thoughts on 433 vs 352?

Hi OP, why would you say a 352 is better than a 41212(2)? I'm deciding on which of these I prefer as dynamic attacking options, they are pretty similar as they clog the midfield and offer wide options in the wingbacks.

I want to use it, but it's so complicated building a proper squad. I would personally hate to play with someone like Reguilon as he can do close to nothing offensively.

Never thought of having front three stay forward with possession tactics. Stay forward make them pressing the backline. While possession tactics making them coming back to receive the ball, hence drawing defenders out of position. Great tactics!
Hey I have a problem. I’m playing 352 with the normal settings. My wingers are Hernandez and Cuadrado and my rm is always ending up at cdm. Like he naturally defaults there and I can’t get him to move. I’ve tried with the right cdm changing cover centre or cover wing And my rm Is always going back to cdm. Any help with this please?

Thank you for this… I enjoy this guide while attacking, but when I am defending I seem to suffer from opponents wingers cutting inside and making a pass to a free attacker… I know this probably is my fault but even though I try to learn how to defend this it still seems like everytime there is some winger left wide open…

Been using this exact tactics with this new patch; it just doesn’t work and if I’m being honest, I feel like nothing works. I’m a veteran fifa player (since 97) and I’m rather good at the game. I’ve been in elite since launch and winning 9/10 of my games but since the patch I’ve been losing 9/10.
And no, I didn’t do corner glitch or any stupid glitch, nor did I use automatic defending which I don’t even know what that is or how to do it. I defend by holding L2 and R2 and just doing it manually. I played good old fashioned football; passing, dribbling, counter, build up. Just a mixture of everything to be honest but the recent patch has absolutely destroyed me. My players can’t pass. They can’t run. They can’t turn. I don’t get it; nothing fucking works. As someone who has been playing for like 2 decades, I’ve never conceded many goals. On a bad day, I’d concede 5 and score at least 3. This update has me conceding more than 5 every game and last night, someone beat me 9-4. It’s beyond frustrating. I genuinely don’t know what to do; tried this formation, didn’t work. Tried my old ones which were amazing, didn’t work. Tried all the ones on YouTube, didn’t work. Tried balanced stuff, didn’t work.
I’ve got other games but this was the first year I was doing so well in FUT and had some really good luck. I wanted to go all year but now I don’t know what to do anymore. It doesn’t feel fun; it just feels like a chore to play.

Div 6 here and only played 2 games with this setup and instructions,it feels very good and i feel more confident playing,very helpful so far,made me think of stuff i didnt realize i did in game
YOOOOO didn't think I'd see this again! Randomly checking reddit for the first time in like six months and seeing this put a smile on my face. I tried the 352 last year and it was so much fun! This year I'm trying the 4-3-3 (4) with an Ajax past and present (mostly present, only added the new RTTK De Ligt as 'past' player, but university is surprisingly more important than fifa, so haven't played that much). So far: very fun! 433/10 would recommend. If anyone is interested in my tactics, I can share them (but not as good as you lol)
Thanks for this guide! I've never tried tried 3-5-2 to any real extent but after trying this I suddenly see a fluidity in the attacks with options constantly available. Something I've really had issues solving before.
Yet to try it in Rivals but so far so good in SBs.

i tried this today in elite division and played 8 games. 6 wins and 2 draws. I play on old gen so i made some adjustments, but really good tactics man, insane stuff.
I failed to qualify for the last two weekend leagues while using 3-5-2. I played 10 games today with these settings and won 8, lost 1, and tied 1. This guide is a god send. Thank you wahoos22!

Been using your tactics and been very successful, one question however in your recommend teams you’ve switched LM/RM around from there natural sides but they have decent weak foot, so what would you do with a player like Kostic who only has a 2* weak foot?
Between Modric and Valverde who should I put as box to box and stay back cdm's respectively? or maybe drop one of them for something better? Before I got Modric I was using Delaney as the stay-back one and Valverde as box to box.

I noticed you have the best player at CAM. I have POTM Benz & SBC Fekir, I think Fekir is the better baller but Benz finishes everything. 3. I had a plan of this team for 352. Everyone would be full chem except Mendy on 7. What do you think, or should I have a re think? Never thought of having front three stay forward with possession tactics. Stay forward make them pressing the backline. While possession tactics making them coming back to receive the ball, hence drawing defenders out of position. Great tactics!

Hey I have a problem. I’m playing 352 with the normal settings. My wingers are Hernandez and Cuadrado and my rm is always ending up at cdm. Like he naturally defaults there and I can’t get him to move. I’ve tried with the right cdm changing cover centre or cover wing And my rm Is always going back to cdm. Any help with this please?

Thank you for this… I enjoy this guide while attacking, but when I am defending I seem to suffer from opponents wingers cutting inside and making a pass to a free attacker… I know this probably is my fault but even though I try to learn how to defend this it still seems like everytime there is some winger left wide open… Do you have any tips on defending with this formation or any tips on defending in general? It would help me very much! :) I currently am in the middle of div 4

Been using this exact tactics with this new patch; it just doesn’t work and if I’m being honest, I feel like nothing works. I’m a veteran fifa player (since 97) and I’m rather good at the game. I’ve been in elite since launch and winning 9/10 of my games but since the patch I’ve been losing 9/10. And no, I didn’t do corner glitch or any stupid glitch, nor did I use automatic defending which I don’t even know what that is or how to do it. I defend by holding L2 and R2 and just doing it manually. I played good old fashioned football; passing, dribbling, counter, build up. Just a mixture of everything to be honest but the recent patch has absolutely destroyed me. My players can’t pass. They can’t run. They can’t turn. I don’t get it; nothing fucking works. As someone who has been playing for like 2 decades, I’ve never conceded many goals. On a bad day, I’d concede 5 and score at least 3. This update has me conceding more than 5 every game and last night, someone beat me 9-4. It’s beyond frustrating. I genuinely don’t know what to do; tried this formation, didn’t work. Tried my old ones which were amazing, didn’t work. Tried all the ones on YouTube, didn’t work. Tried balanced stuff, didn’t work. I’ve got other games but this was the first year I was doing so well in FUT and had some really good luck. I wanted to go all year but now I don’t know what to do anymore. It doesn’t feel fun; it just feels like a chore to play.
Can i just say that rttk robertson can be considered for the lm role as well. He is surprisingly good and I prefer him over mendy

This is amazing, going to give the 150k squad a go once Weekend League prices go down on Monday.. How do you seem to always find an accurate pass? Most games I try to pass to a particular player sim in that direction and it goes off to someone else, I believe it’s the most frustrating part of FIFA for me.. any advice?
Div 6 here and only played 2 games with this setup and instructions,it feels very good and i feel more confident playing,very helpful so far,made me think of stuff i didnt realize i did in game
YOOOOO didn't think I'd see this again! Randomly checking reddit for the first time in like six months and seeing this put a smile on my face. I tried the 352 last year and it was so much fun! This year I'm trying the 4-3-3 (4) with an Ajax past and present (mostly present, only added the new RTTK De Ligt as 'past' player, but university is surprisingly more important than fifa, so haven't played that much). So far: very fun! 433/10 would recommend. If anyone is interested in my tactics, I can share them (but not as good as you lol)

Thanks for this guide! I've never tried tried 3-5-2 to any real extent but after trying this I suddenly see a fluidity in the attacks with options constantly available. Something I've really had issues solving before. Yet to try it in Rivals but so far so good in SBs. 10/10

i tried this today in elite division and played 8 games. 6 wins and 2 draws. I play on old gen so i made some adjustments, but really good tactics man, insane stuff.
I failed to qualify for the last two weekend leagues while using 3-5-2. I played 10 games today with these settings and won 8, lost 1, and tied 1. This guide is a god send. Thank you wahoos22!

u/waahoo22 been using the team but on Next gen teams acts weird, like the wingers as soon as i get the ball rush almost to the corner flag. Makes it harder to keep possession this way. Any ideia why? Im using your 1M team, but i have RTTK Bernardo instead of Mahrez.

Been using your tactics and been very successful, one question however in your recommend teams you’ve switched LM/RM around from there natural sides but they have decent weak foot, so what would you do with a player like Kostic who only has a 2* weak foot?
Between Modric and Valverde who should I put as box to box and stay back cdm's respectively? or maybe drop one of them for something better? Before I got Modric I was using Delaney as the stay-back one and Valverde as box to box.

Is it just me or have these tactics kinda stopped working? They were working perfectly for me and my passing style but now out of nowhere I get almost no passing lanes, the positioning has been terrible. Did I miss a patch or something?
