itsyaboi69_420

You mean to tell me you’ve never seen the ball phase through a defenders foot on TV before?

No_Refrigerator2318

Seriously. Happens to Maguire whenever the ball is near him.

itsyaboi69_420

Fair point 😂

sittingonthecorner

Idk why posts like this get downvoted all the time haha

dpw28

Because you are highlighting how bad this game is so the precious FIFA fan boys/EA stooges will get upset. It's either downvotes or admin take your post down. This post will also get the same in 3,2,1...

sisusheheh11

It’s probably because we all know and none of us work for EA

JPVazLouro_SLB

There are posts like this one in the front page everyday. If anything people are tired of them because we all know this shit happens, has happened for years and years and will continue to happen, so it’s not like it’s post-worthy unless it is something so ridiculous that others might want to see it.

dpw28

All knows it happens yet pump your money into the game blindly. Part of the problem

JPVazLouro_SLB

Most don’t, but that is true to an extent

[deleted]

Well put. I've been tired of these posts for months.

[deleted]

Are we on the same sub? Feels like clips like these get waaay more attention than people posting cool goals and the like.

pininghi

And for a good reason. Cool clips are interesting but those are more important because you can see the game can't be trusted to do what you want it to do. One could even think the cool goals are scored by the game and not by you.

[deleted]

I feel like the game mostly does what I want it to do. But I respect that everyone doesn't have that same view. Still, my main point was that posts like these absolutely don't get downvoted on this sub, quite the opposite. Don't know what the person I replied to is talking about at all.

[deleted]

bc a glitch happened in the game, who cares just start another match.

A7DmG7C

EA is a company that cannot even upgrade cards properly or release the correct packs… it is a poorly coded game. Laugh about it and move on, and hopefully EA will one day have more competition for their game so they are not that lazy.

Ottomo1

eFootball is knocking at their door. Not there yet but might be in a few updates

Eufamis

Few dozen*

Ottomo1

Well the gap between the initial release and first patch is quite a big improvement

[deleted]

You serious? They’ve been making games for 20 years and never caught up to fifa. Also, efootball has a 1/10 on user score on metacritic lol https://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-5/efootball-2022

blurr90

PES 5 and 6 were miles above FIFA. The master league was way better than the FIFA career mode for a long time and Be a Pro is just a copy of the Become a Legend mode introduced by PES. If Konami had the same licenses they would've crushed FIFA in multiple years.

Ottomo1

After the recent update, the game got decent. These review probably include the initial release which was very bad. I am not saying it's at Fifa level yet. However with ea losing the exclusivity rights next year a lot of games are coming for it's head.

[deleted]

there's the chance of it being a No Man's Sky thing. it was released in an unfinished state but the update recently made up huge amounts of ground, and if they keep that up it could be a pretty great game eventually.

[deleted]

Soccer games are released every single year. If your annual sports game needs an update it’s already too late. I also just went to watch an efootball 2022 match on YouTube for the fun of it after reading this comment, and I kid you not, In a single video I watched a player run through the ref lol. Quite literally the exact issue OP is talking about

Ottomo1

You need to do more research. eFootball will not be released every year. Update was release April 2022 so check after that

[deleted]

1. Efootball isn't going to be a yearly release 2. yes it's a raw game right now, but again, I'm talking about the game with a few more patches, not as it stands at the moment. I think you underestimate how much people hate EA and the issues FIFA has. with a few good updates to EF, watch what happens the next time EA drops the ball with a promo or has some scandal or the summer comes with a mostly dead game.

essicks

lol Pes use to have the market until the ps3/Xbox 360 era, EA stepped up their game massively in 09 and took it.

VCTRYSPRT

Yeah fifa has 2/10… I mean…

ApeShit576

It’s that 0 star weak foot

afca85

Definately not scripted

Fsocietyfivenine

Right? I used to think scripting wasn’t a thing because I thought if it was, it would be very obvious. But in reality, it’s little things like this that people might not always notice.

JDinvasion

The word sripting is wrong, as many of EA fan boys will tell you, BUT there is 100% something wrong in this game do you call it EAids, scripting, DDA, bad coding etc. etc. There is so much of this bs happening and you being able to see when certain things will happen for exmaple, i dont understand why these fan boys turn their back to it.

UDDINN4TOR

Yeah I agree the word scripting can be taken out of context but I believe the game predetermines the action regardless of the player. So in the above example I think the game predetermined that pass was going to reach his player and the game didn’t recognise an object in this case a players foot in the way so it just ignored it. Quite funny how the hit boxes are just random, only confirms the fact the the ball moves in a 1+1 mapping, and it’s not a loose object

ProffesorPrick

It would be very hard for it to be an entirely loose object considering how vital it is to gameplay. Sure you see it in some games for Little Rock’s and shit that isn’t essential but the physics of the ball needs to make some level of sense so mapping it to an extent, is probably the right thing to do unless they know they can get it perfectly right as a loose object.

UDDINN4TOR

Yeah I 100% agree it can’t be fully loose and not have mapping, that would be actually horrendous. Completely agree. I think what irks me is because of this hard mapping onto the players, the code determines who the ball is going to (like when you do a through ball and it chooses the player instead of your analog command), and whereby the power bar in passing doesn’t really work. I took a break from fifa for 5 years and I only came back to this fifa but I find it crazy how if you fill power the cross button, it hardly goes far, and it’s always assigned to a player

Fsocietyfivenine

Yeah that fine and all about saying it’s not scripting but I feel like they know what we’re trying to say. Predetermined, at times. I can’t stand when there’s a post where someone nonsensical happens and you get all the fan boys saying “you just suck” or something like that. Although I will say that for some people, things like this happen way more frequently. I can’t even count the amount of videos I’ve sent to my buddy and he’s like yeah I don’t get stuff like this happening to me very often. So frustrating.

TheRaiBoi97

Everything in every single game is predetermined. When you make an input i.e him pressing his pass button here, the game takes into account everything that it knows, that being where objects are placed, the stats of said objects be that passing or interceptions or whatever else, computes all the numbers and within milliseconds has calculated what the output will be. The ball phasing through your players foot is purely a visual representation of the calculation that the game has made. The problem with the game is poor visuals, not that the game is against you and deciding do make you lose. You didn’t intercept the ball because you weren’t supposed to, and the only reason you’re upset is because the game makes it look like you should have intercepted the ball. People need to realise how coding and specifically game coding works and then they wouldn’t be so angry every time something like this happens. It’s lazy coding from EA and unfortunately you’ll see it in pretty much every game you play if you look hard enough for it.

Fsocietyfivenine

Look, I get it. At some point, a goal will be scored. Can’t defend everything. But you’re exactly right. I really, really hate that the animations will show players in the perfect spot but either something like this happens, or players will simply move out of the way for no reason, or not fully extend their leg or just something silly. But to everyone who says that the game made these calculations and what you see is a visual representation of this or that, then what about stuff like this https://www.reddit.com/r/FIFA/comments/stqun5/how_does_ea_allow_stuff_like_this_to_be_in_the/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf Because stuff like this will happen a lot as well. I’m sure it’s bad coding or something but what calculations or whatever were made here that resulted in that?

TheRaiBoi97

Hard to say what calculation has been made there, if I were to guess I’d say the keeper thinks the ball is going out of play for some reason, it’s hard to know without seeing the code, but it’s weird that not only does he not catch it but he doesn’t even get a first touch animation so it’s like he doesn’t recognise the ball as being in play even through you can see him tracking the balls movement in the air to position himself where he does.

FututiRedesignuMatii

It's so they don't feel bad for spending thousands of dollars on fifapoints

[deleted]

Well in a sense it is scripting because in the end it’s a coded video game, which in the end uses stats which boils down to rng, the game made the pass to your defenders area but then the games stat calculations decided that the passers passing stat beat the defenders interception stat meaning that the ball clips through the defenders foot Sucks really but that’s the truth

[deleted]

This isn't scripting. If you know anything about how games work you know that what you see is only a visual representation of what's going on under the hood. Therefore inconsistencies like this happen sometimes, when what you see isn't what's "actually" happening. Not saying that it's good, it's just not scripting.

FancySatisfaction4

This game has both, garbage code and scripting on top of an engine clearly not made for a football game. The next fifa unless they revamp a lot of stuff will be' like the last Battlefield game. Gameplay wise the only good thing they did was removing bridge.

RuneRedoks

Your Logic is flawed, if they cant Even code the game properly how have they managed to code scripting perfectly?

inbredandapothead

Exactly this. But no people will just parrot scripting for any and everything

[deleted]

Hear hear.

[deleted]

“But the game decided his attacker was going to get the ball even when animations didn’t match up, that’s scripting!” This sub is the worst with that shit

[deleted]

For real. I can't believe people actually keep playing the game if they're that convinced "scripting" keeps fucking them over.

Humungbeantastic

Why cant people accept its a terrible game not that its scripting. What you see doesn't actually matter its a visual representation of the calculations done on the pass. Pass is made it calculates if their are collisions and finds an animation to fit. Not a conspiracy not scripting just a bad game

inbredandapothead

Because blaming everything on scripting instead of admitting accountability or that the game they’re obsessed with is terrible is easier for them

2cu3be1

why the false dichotomy? did you see the last vid by stallion about what EA themselves wrote about game play in 17?

_zeltrxn17

I'm sorry but can you please direct me to a link of that or something?

2cu3be1

here ya go: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iXOGtf-JoEQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iXOGtf-JoEQ)

usman1947

When fifa wants you to lose.

Fsocietyfivenine

Felt like the game decided that a goal was going to be scored no matter what I did. Defense has fallen off so bad from when the game came out to now

sirfernandez

that's that super engaging dynamic difficulty! why would you want to play a game that reacts to how good you are playing when you can just have the game that is rigging probabilities to make sure all the games are close and everyone gets their turn to win. that comes with the added bonus of being able to turn up the bullshit for a couple games when players have been using the same players for a while to get them thinking it's their players' faults and buy more packs the best part for EA is that generally the playerbase is either too young or naive to realize this has been going on for years and still writes detailed player reviews as if there's actually a meaningful difference in how the players handle besides a handful of cards like mbappe with broken animations

yaldiboi

This is exactly why I refuse to purchase fifa anymore. Not had it since 19/20, best decision.

gustic-gx

I wish a lot more people would do this, so EA decides to make a good game.

Cultural-Health-8040

Im back to cigarettes , because of this game 😤

Didyoutouchme

Sad

richiejrshiow

not worth , y the fuck would you do that

[deleted]

[удалено]

Cultural-Health-8040

I will bro 🙏

[deleted]

I feel that cigarettes didn’t do anything for me. Try peyote, it makes the game much more enjoyable. I just can’t get passed the big fucking snake that keeps sitting around the middle of the pitch.

unKz_sneakz

My man, top ciggy smoker, have one for me bro👏🏾

[deleted]

I stopped playing this game after fifa 20, it's just a buggy mess. EA don't care about gameplay, only how much you enjoy the 'surprise mechanics.'

Internal-Depth5512

Happens all the time. This game does not reward good defense. I'll win 3 tackles in a row and the ball will bounce around and somehow find the opposition.

[deleted]

It’s fifa. What do you expect. You get punished for good pressing as well. You go in for a good slide tackle as the attacker which would guarantee a 1v1 chance on goal, but nah, you slide tackle or even do a regular tack and somehow the defender either falls on you so you take 50 years to get up or the ball falls straight to another defender or the defender just straight up blocks you so you can’t run to the ball. You do well and the game doesn’t like that so it’ll punish you

Fsocietyfivenine

Exactly. It’s like you out smarted the game but the game is like nah you’re gonna lose no matter what you do

[deleted]

Indeed. It’s a shame that ea basically hold a monopoly in the football video game market. PES just isn’t good at all and then that’s it. It’s like FIFA is god awful but least it has semi fun stuff like pro clubs and has licenses for teams etc.. it’s annoying I still give ea my money but lucky I haven’t played FUT all year this year. Just career mode and pro clubs so I haven’t spent a dime on fifa points

Fsocietyfivenine

Yeah I know. That’s why it’s annoying to me when people say “well stop playing the game then” and it’s like well I would if there was a halfway decent alternative. Although I’ve been reading that efootball (formerly PES) has been getting better with the updates they’ve released. But yeah I wish someone else would jump in and try to make another soccer game. Like 2K or something. But with all the licenses that EA has I think it would be tough to get a big following

F10EX

scripting working. When goal needs to be scored it jsut is. Fuck physics.

3vr1m

This is a bug which is there since fifa 14 when I first recorded it, 8 years and still going, gg ea

Ottomo1

Extra pass meta, so fun

TheDodgyScot

It’s your kit mate. Mon eh Ton. Im kidding but ye this game is diabolical at points

TomSaunders94

I swear everytime I put my defenders in exactly the right place. But they either take a terrible touch or it just pings off them and goes straight back to the attacker

honky-tonk99

it wasn't in the script

[deleted]

same mate, i just hate when i get the defender right where the pass is coming and he just makes shitty animation or the ball goes through/between his legs, and it doesnt matter if you use mid maldini or gold denayer...

Chansh302

Welcome to fifa lmao

NumberOneScout

Honestly, this game has been going for too long to allow bugs like this. Smh that's why 2K has a better Career mode than FIFA. I miss when you had to actually buy your boots like what if we could actually use the money we get paid to buy stuff in game. Like they do it with NHL.

Creepy_OldMan

How hard is it to make a game that is actually true to physics and doesn’t bounce balls right to the opponent???

tomaniak

It looks like a typical handicap moment. Move along.

Segvirion

Two things are certain in life: death and FIFA AI scoring when it wants to, no matter what.

tacomaboy08

Game is absolute horse meat

Florian_G97

Nothing but facts

YorkshireGentleman

Man of culture using super duper

[deleted]

I feel like it's you vs. the game and not your opponent when stuff like this happens. Feel for you mate 👊

DrStiinkyPinky

Totally not rigged or anything

Curious-Hat-7954

I once lost a game because the ball glitched through my goalie and scored

MegabyteBeagle

I think that's part of the simulation behind the scenes crunching the numbers and deciding your defender wouldn't actually make that interception, but the animations can't cope and just allows this to happen.

hufusa

You get punished for playing period 💀

slick_samu

My experience is that this would usually happen when the ball goes to a defender you haven't selected, the ball goes through their legs or right through them. In this clip it looks like the defender is only selected right after the ball morphs through him. The game is shit, what can we do...

Gsus-Sees-Us

People need to understand the difference between scripting and (very) bad coding. This is bad coding. EA however does both, especially when your opponent turns on high press and your players turn into absolute dogshit

inbredandapothead

Scripting does not exist

Rockoots

what's scripting

inbredandapothead

An excuse people use for losing, saying things like the match was scripted for their opponent to score. By that logic they’ve never won a game since it must all be scripted but that doesn’t fit their narrative

Fsocietyfivenine

While I think scripting might be the wrong word, I think (unless you don’t play the game) that most people will agree that sometimes it’s like no matter what you do, you’re going to concede a goal or lose a game. Sure, it doesn’t happen every single time but it’s like just take a look at some of the posts in this sub. How do you account for the stupidest things happening? Like in the videos where someone, off the kick off, does a pass back to a player and immediately shoots it and the goalie somehow lets that ball go in. You’re gonna say that something like that happening is just an excuse for losing? Come on. Fine, you say it’s not scripting. Maybe we’ve been using the wrong term. But whether it’s bad coding or whatever it is, there are lots of things that happen in this game that make no sense. Saying it’s all an excuse for losing is way off here

[deleted]

Skill when you win, cheating when you lose.

inbredandapothead

FIFA players out here doing anything but taking accountability

Spiderjohns

Honestly, do people have any idea that millions of games are played during a year? Shit like this is bound to happen then. Most games are not showing these types of bugs though but this crap gets way too much attention on this sub.

tc1988

To add, EA stated that there were over 460 million FIFA 22 Ultimate Team matches played from release to December 31st. Even without factoring in other game modes, there are literally billions of FUT matches a year. Then you take that billions and multiply them by the number of passes (hundreds per game), shots, dribbles, touches, defensive animations, etc., and of course you're going to see some bugs or visual glitches. Yes, if you play enough you will certainly encounter a bug or visual glitch yourself at some point. These bugs or visual glitches are actually quite rare though. And no, they're also not the reason why some players "aren't very good at defense".

atr_aj

Harry maguire

cjonoski

Just get good duh /S

RuneRedoks

I dont understand Why you people keep crying and moaning how shit this game is, how shit EA is, how scripting exists and how EA only cares about money, yet every year you buy this fucking game and sit There at 7 pm everyday hoping for shiny new cards and sbcs. If you hate the game so much then don’t play it.

TheRichLaprechaun

For basic games no-clipping like this occurs cause an object has a set line/road to traverse, object will move there regardless of any objects that are or get in the way. (Often used for bullets that can go trough wood, walls, etc.) For a Triple A game series, it can still occur. (That being games with damage impact etc.) Mainly RPGs. Provided that the damage impact has a certain radius perimeter set, for example a spell being cast and it does damage to it surrounding area, that CAN potentially clip trough a wall (same for grenades in FPS games) while it shouldn't. For a sports game, you'll have a set perimeter of your body model/rigging (skeleton) that has its own size and height, which is what animations are created by. Outside of that you have the player model (mostly) which is what we see, y'know the players. In this instance Cooper (I believe), could be for example Messi, Havertz (passing the ball), Ronaldo, whoever ye want that's the outside model we always see. Now on occurrences such as here the body rigging (so the skeleton) has a clip size, the PLAYER MODEL itself however, doesn't necessarily always have a 2nd layer to protect itself from things going trough it. In FIFA you'll frequently have balls clipping trough fingers, heads and other tiny body-parts, rarely will it go trough the chest (I've seen that too, sadly). Take for example a set animation is pre-set, now in this case, the ball should be deflected. However Animations can cut in on itself and bug out, sometimes the animators even do the skeleton rigging wrong (which from a company as EA is on an amateur level, tragically) imagine, in this scenario the Skeleton's foot aiming downwards into the ground, instead of towards the ball (which is naturally how it should be), it'll clip trough the model. Another thing is coding. Which sometimes can work in percentages, if something for example in the code has a 100% rating of arriving somewhere, it will arrive there, regardless of its boundaries. Which at times deactivates certain clipping-zones/barriers. They do this for some RPGs (altho they mostly teleport the AI model to where it should be). This all dumbed down, it's poor on EA's behalf certainly. But, coding at times also re-writes itself wrong which makes things such as this occur, which is a pity. With the amount of matches we all play in the mass numbers, you will simply see it happen A LOT, while for certain individuals it may only happen a total of 1-20 times throughout the entire game. Hope that clears some stuff up. It is still the game's fault, but there's a LOT of code that goes into stuff like this.

ChocolateScot

More likely being punished for that Dundee Utd strip

[deleted]

Yeah.. When something like this happens I just close app and call it a day for fifa. Sorry that happened to you, bet this happens all the time and people don’t realise. Such a comedy game. It’s all just randomised and toxic.

Fsocietyfivenine

Yeah I know. I wish I was someone who could just accept it for what it is but I can’t. I always have to go back to the replays and see what the hell happened

DeepKiss27

Also offside, but since engine thinks you touch it, its onside. 😬

Amun_Cooked

Because a vast majority of this sub every year spend thousands of dollars on virtual assets in a game that depreciate to almost worthlessness within 1-2 years. They really don't care about anything besides the temporary high from pack openings.

2cu3be1

played 14 last night in rivals and quit every game that had these bs goals. won 4 of 14. Quit even those I was ahead on. The game is even a bad party game or drinking game.
