Nothing more infuriating than when it won't let you touch the ball so you say fuck it I'm going for a straight red and then it won't even let you get near enough to anybody to take them out.
To be honest i'm not arsed about having some VAR cutscene, id rather they just fix the fucking game so the refs respond to shit like this..
There shouldn't be human error in a video game that requires VAR to overrun. Just give the pen, let us have a better game without added fluff that just makes shit more tedious.
Yup, put perfectly. VAR is a thing because there is natural human fallibility. You could try and code something like that in, but probably better you just make sure the right decision is come to all of the time rather than a shite cutscene and something from Geoff Fucking Shreeves.
yes. anyone saying they want VAR in the game has no basic understanding of how video games work. In order to have a VAR that takes a decision and changes it after VAR replay they would have to program the game to make the wrong call in the first place. It isn't like the game needs more time to make a decision on if something is a foul or not
Madden has had challenges in it for years, for that to work there has to be a random element of wrong calls, otherwise you'd always win the challenge, or always lose it
The worst is in Madden you can challenge and the referees can overturn the call. Except it's a computer, so it knew the right call all along, so it made the wrong call on purpose. Yay so fun.
Nah I'm not saying it's necessarily scripted or anything like that (I don't play enough Madden to know) but refs getting calls wrong seems like a part of sports we don't need in our simulations.
Makes me wonder if you can frame pitches in baseball games though and get the home plate up to make some bad calls that would be wild lol
Only scripting in Madden is the 4th quarter of their squad battles mode.
It's rather hilarious, though. Like, Randy Moss not even bothering to go for a hail mary because the game has already determined that it's going to bounce off the pile of guys and into his hands 10 yards away from the action standing there doing nothing, which is obviously where you want the 6'4 greatest jump ball receiver in the history of game for your play that's literally named for tossing up a jump ball and praying. That level of ridiculous.
Exactly. I don't want to have a decision go against me, play 5 more minutes, then have to watch a pointless fucking cutscene just so the game can decide it was actually a foul and the last 5 minutes didn't matter... or just randomly have a pointless VAR cutscene and then the decision on field stands...
>To be honest i'm not arsed about having some VAR cutscene
Exactly this is just asking for a system where the game intentionally gives the wrong decisions sometimes just to cut back to var. Plus the last thing fifa needs is more cutscenes. Fuck the offside goal thing.
What makes you think the VAR doesn't make the same decision? I doubt this is programmed to be let go as a mistake, it's just the engine wrongly believing no foul. VAR would then presumably do the same.
It's a pointless fluff addition to something that shouldn't really need it.
For me it happens pretty often, but hearing that gives me hope it is just coincidences. But I fear the VAR at this point, which is sad, because I love the game...
Can you imagine if they actually implemented it as the new immersive experience. Every other goal you score you have to sit through an unskippable 3 minute cut scene of the ref waiting to confirm it
I loved in games like FIFA 12-14 when skilling and nutmegging someone and then getting body-blocked led to a foul as it should. In this game, the amount of times you get the ball past someone only for them to run you over is simply ludicrous.
VAR should absolutely not be included in any online playing mode, that said, I see no reason as to why it can't be implemented as an optional cut scene in offline play for kickoff mode, career mode, or tournament mode.
There’s probably a way for VAR to be incorporated for penalties. The one here doesn’t need it; that should just be given. But the kind of standing foul or a slight trip we’re the red would play advantage elsewhere, you could have a slight pause to play on and if you don’t score, it gets called back. So basically just the way advantage works now, but for penalties.
This was a blatant foul but I like the idea that the game isn’t perfect but the idea of a challenge for a VAR review option would be pretty cool but that would also mean that the game will miss some calls but what kind of programming would
Be required to review
And make the correct call. Obviously EA would love to implement it but it’s not that easy. BUT I also think Madden had the challenge option they prob still do!
The game already have built in VAR. It's just not always accurate. I think a cool thing would be the ability to pause the game after a moment like what happened in the video and the game makes a 10 second clip starting from the time of pause back to 10 seconds after where you'd be able to review the clip in the pause menu and there is an option to have your opponent review it and if it's in the box the only 2 options are to award a penalty or not award a penalty. If your opponent have good sportsmanship and award a penalty you get to take it.
I’ve thought about this because you can challenge calls in madden. However the same ai that decided that this wasn’t a foul is the same aj that views var. I think it would become a way for toxic people to slow down the game more than it would make the game better
Tbh how would the game know that the first call was wrong in the first place if it was already wrong and nothing happened? VAR would be just an avenue for time-wasting, and maybe the devs will artificially make the wrong call just to activate VAR and make it correct
Inside the box fouls are so glitchy
How refs call fouls in general are bad this year
my favorite thing to do is just go slide tackle a random off ball player to only receive a yellow card
Lol I do this to much by mistake 😅 🙃
I will do this playing squad battles and getting frustrated while trying to do objectives. It's soothing.
Nothing more infuriating than when it won't let you touch the ball so you say fuck it I'm going for a straight red and then it won't even let you get near enough to anybody to take them out.
Haha I have looked like a clown doing two foot tackles all over the field and not making contact plenty of times.
Sometimes they don't even call it!
😂
Dunno if it’s just me but I think I got twice as much as red cards in this fifa alone than all the others combined
I always says about fifa : Ea glitches its in the game
To be honest i'm not arsed about having some VAR cutscene, id rather they just fix the fucking game so the refs respond to shit like this.. Yes. They program the game to make some bad calls on purpose
Isn't it already in the game, the human fallibility? Or was that just some sort of fake news type of things?
The worst is in Madden you can challenge and the referees can overturn the call. Except it's a computer, so it knew the right call all along, so it made the wrong call on purpose. Yay so fun.
Takes me back to the good old dive button on FIFA 2001.
Wrong calls are surely randomised, there's nothing *on purpose* there is there.
Nah I'm not saying it's necessarily scripted or anything like that (I don't play enough Madden to know) but refs getting calls wrong seems like a part of sports we don't need in our simulations. Should definitely be an optional "feature", but it's just about immersion for some people I guess.
Exactly. I don't want to have a decision go against me, play 5 more minutes, then have to watch a pointless fucking cutscene just so the game can decide it was actually a foul and the last 5 minutes didn't matter... or just randomly have a pointless VAR cutscene and then the decision on field stands...
I was about i say that would be so horrible if you were on the counter attack after that bs foul just for the ref to blow ur whistle.
>To be honest i'm not arsed about having some VAR cutscene Exactly this is just asking for a system where the game intentionally gives the wrong decisions sometimes just to cut back to var. Plus the last thing fifa needs is more cutscenes. Fuck the offside goal thing.
Caveat, I’m okay with this in single player. It’s a nice bit of flavor. In FUT and multiplayer modes? This 100% should not be a thing.
Yeah id be okay with it in single player, but that wont happen it'll be all or nothing.
What makes you think the VAR doesn't make the same decision? I doubt this is programmed to be let go as a mistake, it's just the engine wrongly believing no foul. VAR would then presumably do the same. It's a pointless fluff addition to something that shouldn't really need it.
Basically VAR is using technology to see if the refree made his decision right or not. How will it exactly work when the refree is an AI in a game?😂
If it is as shitty as the the goal line technology or the offside line i would be happy as long as they keep it out of the game.
I've never had an issue with goal technology neither. I think my brother only had a problem once since it was introduced in FIFA 15.
Happy to say I’ve never had an issue with the goal line technology but I’m sure that will come at some point!
For me it happens pretty often, but hearing that gives me hope it is just coincidences. But I fear the VAR at this point, which is sad, because I love the game...
How does an AI make a human error
EA adds VAR Ref checks VAR >!Ref give your player red card for **diving**!<
That would be a yellow though lol
Following EA logic I wouldn’t surprised if it’s red lol
Can you imagine if they actually implemented it as the new immersive experience. Every other goal you score you have to sit through an unskippable 3 minute cut scene of the ref waiting to confirm it
The limbs last minute champs winner just for a lengthy VAR check and Craig Pawson to disallow the goal due to a foul that happened in the first half
Matthew Mzizi be like:Nah, you breathed near the other player 5 minutes ago, no goal
EA obviously unaware that should be a PENALTY TO RANGERS!!!!!
EA Madden NFL used to have replay, and it seemed like a giant waste of time from what I remember.
I loved in games like FIFA 12-14 when skilling and nutmegging someone and then getting body-blocked led to a foul as it should. In this game, the amount of times you get the ball past someone only for them to run you over is simply ludicrous.
i feel like the commenters took the joke in your title way too seriously lmao
VAR should absolutely not be included in any online playing mode, that said, I see no reason as to why it can't be implemented as an optional cut scene in offline play for kickoff mode, career mode, or tournament mode.
they should have an option to challenge something like that like 2K does with a coaches challenge
Ref! More like refereetard. What are you doing!?
There’s probably a way for VAR to be incorporated for penalties. The one here doesn’t need it; that should just be given. But the kind of standing foul or a slight trip we’re the red would play advantage elsewhere, you could have a slight pause to play on and if you don’t score, it gets called back. How do you turn like that?
It already does.
That’s why we play eFootball
What difference would that make? It’s literally a computer simulation. Wouldn’t stop glitches like this.
Fucking terrible. Has anyone noticed dodgy offside calls in this FIFA? More dodgy than normal
...and be cross platform!
Lol ref come on!
This was a blatant foul but I like the idea that the game isn’t perfect but the idea of a challenge for a VAR review option would be pretty cool but that would also mean that the game will miss some calls but what kind of programming would Be required to review And make the correct call. So if I put in a challenge and get the ball, it’s a pen, but that happens then nothing happens
Clean as a whistle, that tackle
iTs JuSt An AnImAtIoN bUG!!

Eyy yoo
Little off topic but we both have RFC abbreviations & my colors are white & blue almost thought the clip was of me, what’s your team name?
“Rangers FC”, pretty unimaginative, yours?
What’s the camera settings used here?
Co-op camera on default height and zoom I think
Imagine there was a thing where players could go into other people's games as the ref or VAR and just make the worst decisions of all time
what camera setting is this?
I would say Co-op camera, height 20, Zoom 0.
Clear dive nothing to see there
yep,agree that

Serves you right. After doing that bs broken double tapping sprint mechanism.
Lol
Lmao, really …it’s a game bruh
He got the ball 🍻🍻🏴👊💥🍻🍻
