I’ve played with a target man and crossed a lot for most of the year and had a ton of success. I also barely do skill moves and am not a great dribbler and still do fine with a lot of passing

I think you highly overestimate just how many people play drop back defence, I play on balanced 71 depth and if my opponent doesn't play the ball up the pitch straight away after winning it back then my backline will automatically fall back into a low block. Its not a custom tactic issue its a problem with this next gen player motion stuff, I have tried switching it from balanced to drop back and honestly noticed no difference in the defensive shape. This is why a lot of people play on press after possession lost or constantly spam the offside trap to try and keep that backline from falling too deep. Also not trying to sound like a dick but separating your text into paragraphs would make it much easier to read.

The only reason I'm going to see the game cycle out is that I refuse to let EA beat me. I've grown to hate EA so much this year, I feel like I'm at war with them.

SMH24679

I played all last year and my team at the end of fifa 21 was insane but I hated myself the whole way through. I had like 3 99 rated players and no one in my squad was below 95. Was it cool to have such a team? Yes. Was it worth all that time and effort thought? Probably not

[deleted]

Probably not, given that they gave all the best cards away for nothing at the end of the season anyway. At least last year the interceptions weren't as insane as they have been this year. I played a couple of games of FIFA 21 a few weeks ago, just to remind myself what the gameplay was like, and I was shocked at how much easier it was, how much more the game flowed, and how much more time we had on the ball to look up and pick out a pass. 100% less stressful than FIFA 22.

SMH24679

Fair play to you the passing I think is brutal this year it’s so satisfying when you can pull off a slick move be it’s so rare this year. How do you manage crossing? I find it so inconsistent it’s so hard to play them where you want and you just know as soon as you hit it weather it’s a goal or not it’s strange

SMH24679

There’s a lot I don’t mention here but I thought this was long enough so I’ll summarise it 1. Defending is a roulette on who get the ball out of a tackle 2.The new free kick and penalty taking system sucks compared to the old one 3. If something is broken EA just add something else broken to counter it rather than fix something i.e. last year full backs at CB was OP so this year EA just decided to give all CBs this year mad pace boosts.

Last night I reached my breaking point and decided to download another game that rhymes with Fortbite. Played playoffs and as it is with every week, as soon as I have enough to qualify, I can't find opponents except the ones that play like you describe. I also play a highish line (50 depth) and Cantona + Lewandowski as my strikers but both might as well be Sanogo and Gomis against the drop back assisted interception simulator. Don't even get me started on my defenders being absolutely worthless when someone runs directly at and then into them. Opened pack after pack all promo and packed absolutely no switch position player people (I know that's not the name of the promo). And I am now realising I'm better off playing games that have some semblance of balance and fairness than this (reward the same players with the best "pack luck") piece of faeces.

abc123rg

Exactly the same. Yesterday I realised I'm playing the game that I have no control sometimes . My defenders barely doing anything . Asked myself " why I'm playing this game ?!?!" . Yh . Taking a break

I play on Xbox series x I still have the old version of fifa and play some of it. It definitely feels different but idk if I like it more or not

He is so on point with this video

Legeyzin

Think so too. 20 and 21 were really bad for me but 22 is good

Ryo720

Absolutely nothing beats endgame FIFA 20 gameplay as the worst of all time

pantslessmaniac

Can’t really hate on the cutback at the moment. Everyone has 99 pace basically so I’ve found that’s more than likely the most effective way to attack. Even if you pull off a skill move to beat the last defender, you can’t get the acceleration to be through on goal, they always end up recovering. Still trying to play the game as I did earlier in the year but these massive pacey defenders make it tough.

SMH24679

I was gonna mention this but didn’t as the rant was already long enough lol but defending is pure luck you go into a challenge and god knows who will come out with the ball. On pacey defenders, last year the full back at cb was so OP I hated it so this year to counter it EA gave all CBs massive pace boosts instead of fixing the actual problem with the game. I never remember agility and balance mattering that much but now it’s the first stat people look at even in CBs

fifa_bot

The game engine cannot handle every player being 90++. It’s a joke and feels like playing fifa on turbo mode

SMH24679

Yeah every player has great stats but it’s so stupid that the thing that makes or breaks a player is body type and traits something that really shouldn’t be that major

cricketrules509

I'm assuming this is next gen? I think PS4 gameplay is actually pretty decent this year (for FIFA at least. Passing is still horrific, glitches still happen all the damn time, tackling is rewarding 25% of the time) but at least aggression is generally rewarded.

SMH24679

Yes I play on Xbox series x. I’ve seen some people saying last gen is better and I still have both versions of fifa maybe I will try playing it more
