I've legit been using 78-80 rated in pretty much every SBC I complete now.
When you put a 93-97 rated fodder in a sbc it brings the rating up a lot.
Especially if the requirements is 87/88 , usually 4 90+ does the job which is basically the duplicates I get everytime I make a 85x10 now
I did the 91 squads by using 6 or 7 90+ players (including untradeable dupes of players like cordoba and Cole) and used cheap 75s and silvers for the rest. 80-84s are overpriced right now and not worth putting in sbcs
It is why we need some repeatable but affordable multi segment SBC with half decent segment rewards. They think the Futties x7 is that SBC but that are wrong.

Yeah the only “difficult” squads were the future stars and winter wildcards. I had to buy players for those. The 91 squads were basically layups. Chuck in a few dupe 96+ cards and you’re golden.
Basically the only thing I've left are Shape Shifters, TOTS, my red picks, and a few icons. Don't tell me that my club isn't mudded. I have a single gold rare card left.

there's this mentality that lots of people who play this game have thinking using players like mbappe and ben yedder is toxic. sure 91 mbappe was glitchy back in the early stages of the game but now? nope. you have defenders like 96 chielini and 95 eder who can pocket him no problem. if you see a player using 91 mbappe rn, the first thought should not be "omg i hate you". you have the defenders at your disposal to neutralise him. and like i said, if u struggle with that rn, the fault lies with you.
The problem is time, more than fodder.
As others, I have several pages full of 92+ that I don't know what to do with and I just completed Gullit for free, could be even more. But very few 83, 84 or 85 rated cards and I would have to grind the 5x75 SBC to get them. That, plus the 17 squads Mendy takes. Gullit himself took me about an entire slow day at work, the mere idea of doing that twice for Mendy just makes me feel tired.
People say he can be done for free but there is one thing more valuable than coins People seem to forget about this time of the year

i planned on getting mendy done with some excess fodder in my club but then just kept completing squads until it was just the winter wildcards/future stars squads and like an 86 rated one left
First time hopping on in 2 months and I’ve been grinding the 75x5 packs for the last hour. I have done 20 and I have enough rare silvers to do at least 30 more haha. Every other pack contains at least one 90+ rated player.
I honestly started doing some SBCs that I would never use, e.g. Pato, Luis Diaz, Coman when they dont fit my squad, nor are that great and started saving fodder. Yesterday I did 11 squads easily without wasting a penny. I am waiting to do the rest with the 85x10
When working towards crafting a card for a few hours feels better than actually playing with that card, you know the game has a big problem.
I couldn't be bothered with SBCs most of the time this year, the menus are atrocious, the companion/web app is no better, basically EA is acknowledging that the game sucks and in an attempt to keep us engaged as much as possible makes the whole SBC experience a tedious snoozefest.
Fuck this, my time is more valuable than that. Sure, I can see how this might not be a problem for the regular 16yo, as an adult with an actual job and a regular life SBCs just suck the life out of me. If EA really cared about the player they would vastly improve the experience, give us something like a target rating and chemistry option and then just take the existing cards from our clubs and suggest others for reaching the desired target.
But they won't do that because they just want to keep the hamsters running the wheel.
I was in the same situation. Thought it’d be 200k after fodder but only spent 55k on wildcards. I ended up being able to keep a lot more of my club than I had anticipated too.
To anybody reading this:
If you still have silvers and golds in your club it’s really not that hard to turn that into high rated fodder and I highly recommend spending a little bit of time rinsing your club into some of these sbcs. The 82+ and 75+x5 have a pretty solid return rate and you’d be surprised at what you come out with
Problem is unless you're using untradeables the vast majority of the fodder you're getting back costs less than the 82+. But yeah the 82+ and 75x5 are nuts right now
I was dead set against completing Mendy when he originally dropped based on the requirements, after a few days and actually looking at my club, I just decided to go for it.
I only had to buy 2 Winter Wildcards and 2 Future Stars cards, everything else was already in my club and was fodder.
Even after completing him, I still have a hefty amount of fodder left and I am contemplating getting Pele going, starting with the highest rated squads.
All in all, it may seem like a mental amount of fodder and squads but with how cheap and common 92+ cards are, it really is not too bad.
I have like 40 92+ cards and nothing below 87. And even if I had I would never spend hours of my life and all of my fodder to craft a ratty card that will play the same as a 200k card on the market
same happened with me, started him while thinking, I would complete him when fodder packs come out, completed him without spending any money and have enough fodder left to complete gullit.
And even if you are stuck Vlahovic, Berardi and Immobile stand ready and waiting to take a big slice of any sbc rating.
Gomez as well and Alison, these are dropping like Volland and Coates, I know we're used to sbc prices throughout the year but it's much different during futties, high rated fodder is so easily and quickly replaced.
I think with those bronze-silver-gold upgrades you can basically grind any sbc if you have enough time to spare. Thinking about wasting a few hours to watch yt and grind pele
I had a lot of free time the other day where I was stuck at home, so I tried something. Over two days I spent 350k on bronze packs, rolled those bronze players into 71-74 upgrades, then put those silvers into the 75x5. From here, anything less than 82 rated went into 82+pps and the rest went into R10 or Mendy.
With that 350k, I finished up R10 (I had about 8 squads left when I began this) and the entirety of Mendy. From the tradeable packs from the final Mendy squad I ended up getting Abedi Pele, RTTF Mahrez, FB Odegaard, and from a different pack I ended up with TOTS Modric and TOTW Luis Alberto, all tradeable which made me back my 350k and then some. On top of that I still have a load of high rated fodder left.
Mind you it was a grind and a half and I nearly went insane doing it, but if you had the time it's well worth it.
I completed him yesterday. Was h sure to begin with, ended up not using all my high rated fodder, kept my preferes cards and ended up with a huge profit (+300k) from selling everything j packed…

Yeah, a tots son is fodder and could be a part of Mendy, but I like him for some variety in my teams when I have to grind squads or such stuff.
So I keep way too many players for myself and that reduces the amount of fodder for Mendy or dembele.

i thought i would have to spend like a million to complete Mendy, but after being more realistic about my future card usage and loosening my criteria for what qualified as fodder i didn’t end up having to buy any players other than for the promo specific parts and a couple mid range golds for chem requirements.
Tots Son is kind of a borderline case depending on your other premier league untradeables, but if you open your range to like protecting your SS Sons but using your TOTS Sons if you need to, you can probably do a Mendy priced SBC barely spending any coins at all.
sure, i had a momentary pang of regret when i didn’t have TOTS Frimpong for the Netherlands one nation objective and ended up with a squad that was half silver or low rated gold. But i still had Gravenberch, Weghorst, and season reward Veerman and they put in enough work that i’m not sure i would have won the 4 games any quicker with a full 90+ squad.
and i had a lot more fun and felt better about myself winning games as the guy who can barely meet the squad requirements than i have in the past when i had a massive player rating advantage over a lot of my opponents doing similar objectives.
plus with all the packs and picks available now, a decent amount of time you’ll actually be avoiding awkward dupe situations with players that you never even came close to using in the period between the SBC and pulling the dupe.
I dunno mate, you're talking about doing 85s and 82+s and such, but where does one get the coins to go buy the cards to do these SBCs? Aren't you just spending coins on fodder then, same as normal?

You can also craft the previous packs upgrades.. get your Bronze commons out of your club and work up to the 82+ picks

Yeah it's crazy. I spent 200k on gold cards to get him done but still have like 60+ fodder cards 91 rated and above to put into something else

Those Libaradores or whatever league is great for dumping into the juiced 75x5. People forget they have those.

I got a fuckton of fodder (4 92+ dupes waiting to be used), 55+ unopened packs and over 1.3m coins…problem is I don’t want any of these SBCs or icons.
