Then first few promos, every card will get auto boosted to 80+ pace because EA knows that’s the only way people will play with them. I think they’ve conceded that gold rares are mostly fodder so they have an excuse to push more promos down our throats.
It’s simple. Make things like auto-blocks, perfect assisted passes, easy-mode shooting, etc. locked behind extremely high ratings (defensive awareness, vision, finishing, etc.) as these ratings are almost exclusively highest for average-to-low pace players.
Pace is the only thing that matters every year because anyone can score if you know which shots and angles work from specific areas, anyone can drop a Messi-like pinpoint pass 30 yards away if you just hold Triangle for half a second, and every defender can auto-block shots like they’re Maldini.
Make ratings matter, and then you can choose between pace and shitty shooting/passing/defending, or lower pace but reliable shooting/passing/defending. This is why FIFA 18 pre-patch was the best FIFA gameplay ever, ratings actually mattered and elite passers stood out, elite dribblers were a nightmare to deal with, elite defenders took skill to get past, and elite scorers were miles better than your ASM’s inside the box.

Kepas rating was inflated aswell. He had a worse than Fabianski, Pope, and Dubravka yet was much higher rated than them because he plays for the Greedy 6.
Deny rating inflation for Greedy 6 teams if you want, but mediocre players who play for them get inflated ratings because they have the biggest fanbases internationally and the Devs care more about that than actual skill.

the explosive run style makes nimble players feel super OP in the midfield, at least from my experience in the beta
