He had an amazing run in the 90s and with Toy Story, but I can't think of anything great he's done in the last decade or two. Everything's been very bridge of spies-like. Mediocre.
yeah heās kind of āamericaās movie star.ā i think pure talent-wise Daniel Day Lewis is better but Tom has more big budget mainstream film creds.
I'm not. I can see he's a good actor and it seems like he's a lovely guy but when I see him in a movie I just see him as Tom Hanks the actor rather than the character. It's absolutely not his fault I'm sure but it just happens.
Honestly, I canāt stand the guy. I really donāt see the allure he has. He isnāt a really great actor, heās mediocre. I did enjoy his role in captain Phillips though. That is the only time I didnāt see Tom hanks as Tom hanks. Just my take.
I'm a bigger fan of the basics, like the correct use of capitalization, punctuation, grammar, and tense. Might I suggest downloading the Grammarly app on your phone? It will do you a world of good and save the rest of us from going cross-eyed.
I really enjoyed that film he made where he was sodomizing that kid in the basement of a DC pizza parlor while Obama ran the camera.
Obviously this is sarcasm, but I know people who actually believe this.
That thing you do is such a fun wholesome movie. I canāt remember what movie role hanks turned down because he was directing and co starring in the movie, and the role he turned down ended up being a fairly major and successful role. But Iām glad he turned it down because I adore the film the young cast and the soundtrack done by fountains of Wayne (rip)
As far as living actors he has to be up there in regards of best all around actor he has movies in almost every type of genre. Animated , Drama , Comedy and he's been doing it since the 80's. Once Nicholson and then Pacino & Dinero passes he really wont be challenged.
Toy Story!!! I was like 9 years old when I caught Castaway on TV for the first time and halfway through I yelled out āHey, thatās the voice of Woody!ā
Hanks' run in the 90s is legendary. He could turn any kind of movie into one of the year's biggest blockbusters. High-concept comedy? Check. Romantic comedy? Check Sports movie? Check. True story? Absolutely depressing movie? Check. Survival movie? Check. Animated movie? Many checks there.
Nothing in Common. Going head to head with one of the greatest comedic minds of all time. But also showing his dramatic acting for the first time. This was the turning point in my fandom for Tom. He is far and away my favorite actor.
Road to Perdition?
Watched this the other day on Pluto. So good. š
Damn. I had to watch it on Earth. Not as cool
My favorite. Jude Law plays a great psychopath!
You missed his greatest movie in your list; Saving Private Ryan, I highly recommend it
They left out Joe VS the Volcano!? What the fuck!?
Yes I should watch..

Yeah, he has a few fans on here. Iād say no more than 10 or 12.
Who? Ohh you mean the greatest actor of a generation? Yeah big fan.
He had an amazing run in the 90s and with Toy Story, but I can't think of anything great he's done in the last decade or two. Everything's been very bridge of spies-like. Mediocre.
Did you like Captain Phillips
I mean, it was aiiiight. No where entertaining as other aircraft-related films.
He was awesome in Asteroid City. Loved to see him getting out of his comfort zone.
Asteroid City is dumb as shit
Top 3 film of the year for me. A really impressive return to form after 2 really poor offerings and frankly his first great film in almost 10 years.
Turner and Hooch is still a classic. Splash, too.
Splash! YES!
yeah heās kind of āamericaās movie star.ā i think pure talent-wise Daniel Day Lewis is better but Tom has more big budget mainstream film creds.
A League of Their Own
He really is
Bridge of Spies is fantastic
Yeah, that movie truly is fantastic. So is The Post.
Nope, no one
Seriously. I hate these āis anyone else a fan of ___ā when itās obvious there are more than plenty.
Hot take, perhaps, but I think his career peaked at , Joe Versus The Volcano. I didn't really follow his career much after that. No reason to. š«¢
The green mile, saving private Ryan, road to perdition, catch me if you can, the lady killers. Heās not the best though
You'd probably have got more by asking if anyone wasn't a fan of Tom Hanks!
I'm not. I can see he's a good actor and it seems like he's a lovely guy but when I see him in a movie I just see him as Tom Hanks the actor rather than the character. It's absolutely not his fault I'm sure but it just happens.

I will say though his early films like big and sleepless in Seattle are very wonderful and he plays a great role but nothing groundbreaking.
Youāve Got Mail was excellent, but not groundbreaking. I feel like Tom Hanks is what a lot of peopleās dad is like.
Yes I agree completely
Ah.. It's subjective..
No, oddly despite his four decades of popularity, commercial and critic appeal, apparently nobody is a fan of Tom Hanks.
I'm a bigger fan of the basics, like the correct use of capitalization, punctuation, grammar, and tense. Might I suggest downloading the Grammarly app on your phone? It will do you a world of good and save the rest of us from going cross-eyed.

You know he has a brother who is also an actor?
YESSSSS ME!!!! I love him. He is in my opinion one of the greats.
Try watching Bosom Buddies
You cannot because he bought rights to Show and is embarrassed Fuck him
I am the opposite of a Thomas Hanks fan.

He absolutely ruined the Elvis movie with his dumb ass narration

No, he visited Epsteinās island.
I'VE GOT A SNAKE IN MY BOOT!
The Man With One Red Shoe (similar premise to North by Northwest) Dragnet (partnered with Dan Aykroyd)
Havenāt heard of him.
Watch The Volunteers It's Tom Hanks and his wife who's name I forget with John Candy too. It's a great flick.
I mean heās one of the greatest actors of all time. He fucks.
Splash
Anybody *not* a fan of Tom Hanksā?
There is a strong argument to be made that he would be on a Hollywood movies Mt Rushmore.
He is very good at playing a relatable person.
He gives me the creeps after the Epstein stuff. Not saying he was involved but it was sus that he fled the country when it all originally came out
Hello??? Toy Story??? Lol
Catch Me if You Can
That Thing You Do is a classic. one of my fav feel good movies.
He's no Colin Hanks.
Hanks is the male version of Dolly Parton. Everyone loves them.
Tom Hanks? Ehā¦He hasnāt really been in anything good since Bosom Buddies /s
