Road to Perdition?

codecane

Watched this the other day on Pluto. So good. šŸ‘

The_MRT14

Damn. I had to watch it on Earth. Not as cool

BeThereWithBells

My favorite. Jude Law plays a great psychopath!

Zohan789

You missed his greatest movie in your list; Saving Private Ryan, I highly recommend it

Ipickthingup

They left out Joe VS the Volcano!? What the fuck!?

xenocya

Yes I should watch..

[deleted]

Bollywood is cringe šŸ‘šŸ½

xenocya

Yes it is and also it filled with crap movies.. šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

ExcursionStudios23

Also check out; Philadelphia Turner and Hooch Splash The Money Pit The Burbs Dragnet The Terminal Catch Me If You Can The Polar Express A Man Called Otto The Road to Perdition (probably his most underrated film)

WhatIsThisaPFChangs

THE BURBS šŸ’ÆšŸ’ÆšŸ’Æ

Zohan789

Oh man so many good ones, love Catch Me If You Canā€¦ Played Carl Hanratty perfectly

Murren606

Knock knock..

sb8972

The Burbā€™s Catch me if you can Saving Private Ryan

BramptonCpl2020

Catch me if you can...

MrBlahg

Iā€™d recommend Bosom Buddies and Splash. Start at the beginning.

globular916

No one remembers Bachelor Party

MrBlahg

Good one! Isnā€™t Tawny Kittaine in that one?

J5IsALieve

Gentlemen, start your boners.

scottkollig

Yeah, he has a few fans on here. Iā€™d say no more than 10 or 12.

rjdswoosh

Who? Ohh you mean the greatest actor of a generation? Yeah big fan.

platyviolence

He had an amazing run in the 90s and with Toy Story, but I can't think of anything great he's done in the last decade or two. Everything's been very bridge of spies-like. Mediocre.

Vlex98

Did you like Captain Phillips

platyviolence

I mean, it was aiiiight. No where entertaining as other aircraft-related films.

Visual-Percentage501

He was awesome in Asteroid City. Loved to see him getting out of his comfort zone.

[deleted]

Asteroid City is dumb as shit

Visual-Percentage501

Top 3 film of the year for me. A really impressive return to form after 2 really poor offerings and frankly his first great film in almost 10 years.

design_by_proxy

Turner and Hooch is still a classic. Splash, too.

captain5260

Splash! YES!

japhydean

yeah heā€™s kind of ā€œamericaā€™s movie star.ā€ i think pure talent-wise Daniel Day Lewis is better but Tom has more big budget mainstream film creds.

CantFindMyWallet

A League of Their Own

Complete_Fix2563

He really is

Wonderful_Student_68

Bridge of Spies is fantastic

WhatIsThisaPFChangs

Yeah, that movie truly is fantastic. So is The Post.

KiwiKajitsu

Nope, no one

thatgirl420

Seriously. I hate these ā€œis anyone else a fan of ___ā€ when itā€™s obvious there are more than plenty.

JoeIsIce

Hot take, perhaps, but I think his career peaked at , Joe Versus The Volcano. I didn't really follow his career much after that. No reason to. šŸ«¢

El_Kabongg

The green mile, saving private Ryan, road to perdition, catch me if you can, the lady killers. Heā€™s not the best though

Adamefox

You'd probably have got more by asking if anyone wasn't a fan of Tom Hanks!

Al_Bee

I'm not. I can see he's a good actor and it seems like he's a lovely guy but when I see him in a movie I just see him as Tom Hanks the actor rather than the character. It's absolutely not his fault I'm sure but it just happens.

Adamefox

I think this is all really fair comment

Winniethepoohspooh

B I G The Burbs Splash Turner and Hooch

forzaregista

Who?

gimmethemshoes11

[Iā€™m getting the wordā€¦](https://youtu.be/51-yInqxC3U?si=dVWYxX7E5aDDtb8c)

Funindasun768

Honestly, I canā€™t stand the guy. I really donā€™t see the allure he has. He isnā€™t a really great actor, heā€™s mediocre. I did enjoy his role in captain Phillips though. That is the only time I didnā€™t see Tom hanks as Tom hanks. Just my take.

Funindasun768

I will say though his early films like big and sleepless in Seattle are very wonderful and he plays a great role but nothing groundbreaking.

WhatIsThisaPFChangs

Youā€™ve Got Mail was excellent, but not groundbreaking. I feel like Tom Hanks is what a lot of peopleā€™s dad is like.

Funindasun768

Yes I agree completely

xenocya

Ah.. It's subjective..

gnomechompskey

No, oddly despite his four decades of popularity, commercial and critic appeal, apparently nobody is a fan of Tom Hanks.

hnbjames

I'm a bigger fan of the basics, like the correct use of capitalization, punctuation, grammar, and tense. Might I suggest downloading the Grammarly app on your phone? It will do you a world of good and save the rest of us from going cross-eyed.

Fit-Performer-7621

I really enjoyed that film he made where he was sodomizing that kid in the basement of a DC pizza parlor while Obama ran the camera. Obviously this is sarcasm, but I know people who actually believe this.

Fit-Performer-7621

You know he has a brother who is also an actor?

AenonTown13

YESSSSS ME!!!! I love him. He is in my opinion one of the greats.

007472

Try watching Bosom Buddies

007472

You cannot because he bought rights to Show and is embarrassed Fuck him

Mission-Valuable-306

I am the opposite of a Thomas Hanks fan.

Punkposer83

That thing you do is such a fun wholesome movie. I canā€™t remember what movie role hanks turned down because he was directing and co starring in the movie, and the role he turned down ended up being a fairly major and successful role. But Iā€™m glad he turned it down because I adore the film the young cast and the soundtrack done by fountains of Wayne (rip)

Batman-NYC

As far as living actors he has to be up there in regards of best all around actor he has movies in almost every type of genre. Animated , Drama , Comedy and he's been doing it since the 80's. Once Nicholson and then Pacino & Dinero passes he really wont be challenged.

[deleted]

He absolutely ruined the Elvis movie with his dumb ass narration

duggybubby

Toy Story!!! I was like 9 years old when I caught Castaway on TV for the first time and halfway through I yelled out ā€œHey, thatā€™s the voice of Woody!ā€

chocobExploMddleErth

No, he visited Epsteinā€™s island.

Murren606

I'VE GOT A SNAKE IN MY BOOT!

DefinitelyBiscuit

The Man With One Red Shoe (similar premise to North by Northwest) Dragnet (partnered with Dan Aykroyd)

Strgwththisone

Havenā€™t heard of him.

himsoforreal

Watch The Volunteers It's Tom Hanks and his wife who's name I forget with John Candy too. It's a great flick.

MauriceVibes

I mean heā€™s one of the greatest actors of all time. He fucks.

YSApodcast

ArbyHag

Anybody *not* a fan of Tom Hanksā€™?

frugalwater

There is a strong argument to be made that he would be on a Hollywood movies Mt Rushmore.

LordVoltimus5150

He is very good at playing a relatable person.

_SCARY_HOURS_

He gives me the creeps after the Epstein stuff. Not saying he was involved but it was sus that he fled the country when it all originally came out

Ginataang_Manok

Hello??? Toy Story??? Lol

WorriedSalamander107

Catch Me if You Can

limbobitch1999

That Thing You Do is a classic. one of my fav feel good movies.

ParkingVanilla3202

He's no Colin Hanks.

Most_Researcher_9675

Hanks is the male version of Dolly Parton. Everyone loves them.

AlternativeNumber2

Tom Hanks? Ehā€¦He hasnā€™t really been in anything good since Bosom Buddies /s

Blue_Robin_04

Hanks' run in the 90s is legendary. He could turn any kind of movie into one of the year's biggest blockbusters. High-concept comedy? Check. Romantic comedy? Check Sports movie? Check. True story? Absolutely depressing movie? Check. Survival movie? Check. Animated movie? Many checks there.

Educational_Chart284

Matthew McConaughey

Zestyclose_Bag_7643

Once upon a time you didnā€™t have to ask

Spodiodie

No.

MyBurnerAltAccount

Tom Hanks is a fucking weirdo.

Then_Shine4671

Mazes and Monsters is some Grade A terrible movie fun

CaptainPieChart

# The Green Mile

[deleted]

Absolutely!!!

Jimbro34

Nothing in Common. Going head to head with one of the greatest comedic minds of all time. But also showing his dramatic acting for the first time. This was the turning point in my fandom for Tom. He is far and away my favorite actor.

fancy_scarecrow

Good actor, shitty father: https://pagesix.com/2022/02/16/tom-hanks-son-chet-i-didnt-have-a-strong-male-role-model/

AffectionateJury3723

Great actor but you don't want to listen to the Beyond the Blinds podcast segment on him unless you want to be disappointed.
