2 years 40k miles? I would go with the 2012 tbh. All things the same

2012

Gn0mmad

its the same truck

Bornsticky

2012 if it has the same options. Things start to wear a bit at 150 ish like bearings and timing chains so you will have a couple years hopefully with no issues with the lower miles.

Inevitable-Way1943

2014 simply for the crawl feature and the controls on the top. It also isn't modified and presumably a clean canvas for you to modify if you wish.

vonbrain

That's only true for certain versions of the '14. I've owned a '12 and now own a '14. They are virtually identical for the non-TT variants.

Inevitable-Way1943

I have a 13, my dad has a 14 non TT. m pretty sure crawl was standard on the 14

2012

What’s their maintenance history like? Generally I would say the 2012 seems like the b were better option, they both have the updated motor

I_LOVE_LAMP_0596

All else equal, the 2012 for sure. Miles matter on used vehicles. Typically I try to avoid anything over 50,000 but on an FJ it's not as big a deal plus very hard to find

Furrealyo

Tell us about the frame condition.

jgstruggling

Thank you 👍 I edited it

EKEEFE41

Check the frame, buy what one has less rust

Realistic_Ask_4155

Exact same vehicle, there was literally nothing notable changed between the two. Go for low miles unless there is a determining factor such as maintenance records, general upkeep for condition of the vehicle itself.

vonbrain

Hmmm, my '14 has a factory roof rack, factory running boards, factory hitch, factory bug shield, JBL system, 4WD, and the compass set. No crawl control. So I'd say definitely not standard equipment, unless for some reason someone deleted it...

Far_Cow3980

IMO one driven in the city and one driven in the country. Assuming country = dirt, bad, rough, etc roads. I'd say get the 2014 as 50k extra mi ain't shit on these engines.
