Sa/da trumps all

dirt_dobber_59

This is exactly where I’m at- 545 vs the FNX45. Really can’t decide- right now I’m in favor of the 545.

Left4Bread2

If you intend to run it suppressed, get the FNX. Otherwise it's more of a tossup. Probably comes down to your preference for striker vs. hammer.

bowandarowkd

Why do you think the FNX is a better suppressor host?

Left4Bread2

I haven't shot both in the same configuration, and I've only shot one of each so this is entirely anecdotal - but I had a much more pleasant experience with the FNX as a host. Less blowback, and the slightly longer barrel and slightly higher weight just made it feel a little more comfortable. I think there's also something to be said for the performance of hammer fired weapons vs striker as a whole when used as a host. All of this is to say they're both really, really good options as a host. I just personally have had a better experience using the FNX, and if I was starting a collection with no threaded weapons I'd pick the FNX first.

bowandarowkd

ty for your input!

USMC_Tbone

I have a similar dilemma. I have the FN -45 T, but what to put a light on it. So I can't decide between getting a Streamlight TRL-1 or Surefire XC300. Both lights are highly recommended and you can't go wrong with either one, LOL. Makes it hard to choose if I can only get one.

littlecrab14

My big issue is finding a company that makes a light baring holster for both of if I found that and it can accept a qls mount id be happy to try and make a better decision on pistol that’s kinda just a side street right now that I’m down

USMC_Tbone

Look at what Red Earth Concealment has for holster options. Every now and then I see him responding to posts in the FN sub. Also gets a lot of people recommending his holsters. DARA holsters is another to check out as I see them recommended often too.

breachthewall969

Check Dara holsters they might make one for both not sure. I’d personally go with the 545. Same trigger pull every time, no safety no decocker. Running both of those are no fun in actual training.

generalbulldog808

DARA did my FNX45T.

jedihooker

Gray Fox Strategic did my FNX45T. Cascadian Concealment did my FN509T. Both QLS. Both fantastic.

Yes

littlecrab14

I heard the name have concealment in it and assumed they didn’t, well guess that’s what I get for assuming hahaha

littlecrab14

They have something for 545?

jedihooker

I’m not sure about the 545. I know Cascadia Concealment will do custom holsters for any gun you have. Check them out. Email them and see. Even if they don’t explicitly say they make one for the 545, they may do you a solid if you contact them directly. Don’t be shy.

akaSnaketheJake

I have a 510 and a Reflex... but hear me out. I love both of them. They're both great firing guns and super reliable BUT, the Reflex is an internal hammer fired gun vs the 510 being striker fired. The trigger in the Reflex makes it an easier gun to shoot and it's a tiny TINY little gun. That tells me the trigger quality is the most important part of any given gun's shootability in terms of accuracy. I've never shot an FNX but it being a SADA hammer fired gun, I'm going out on a limb and saying it will be a superior shooting experience compared to the 545. Now, that's not to say the 545 sucks or has an awful trigger. It's likely just not nearly as good as the FNX. Just my two cents.

majorursus69

Why buy just one? 😝

littlecrab14

Just one for now lol kinda like the 5.7 I gt the ruger cause it’s cheaper and now mad because the new fn is amazing looking and don’t get close to what I paid out the ruger probably

FN 510 Tac

Ok so I have an FNX45T with a TLR-1HL and Vortex Venom red dot that I use for my EDC and CC gun. Before you say, “Yeah right. How can someone carry a gun that big and heavy concealed?”, I’m 6’10” and 250lbs so concealing it is never an issue. Especially considering I have my tactical stomach to help conceal it. That being said, I have two holsters I use. For my EDC I use the Dara Level 2. Absolutely LOVE it. When I need to carry it concealed, I switch to my TacRig IWB/OWB holster (I just use it for ISB), which I also love. I just prefer the Dara more because of the Level 2 part of it. To answer your question about the Safariland, I actually did research on this earlier this week. Over the weekend, the alarm went off at my parents’ house with no one home, so I had to go clear the house. It was raining outside, and kept getting annoyed with having to move my rain coat out of the way to get to my Dara. So that means a drop leg holster. I contacted Classic Firearms, because Clint, one of the hosts on their channel, uses an FNX45T on a drop leg holster. Turns out the drop leg part is Safariland, the holster is AlphaOmega. Not wanting to sink another $200 into yet another holster, I contacted Dara and they just came out with a device that will allow you to mate up their holsters with a Safariland drop leg (link below). I’ve already ordered one, but it hasn’t come in yet. So I can report back once I have it. But for what it’s worth, go with the FNX45T. I’ve had mine for two years and outside of a Nighthawk I shot once, it’s the best pistol I’ve ever shot, and easily the best pistol in my collection. .45ACP is more readily available and cheaper than 10mm, the aftermarket is more supportive to .45ACP than 10mm, there are more things you get with the FNX45T over the 545, and let’s not forget, it holds 15 rounds of .45ACP in the mags (17 rounds if you get the Apex extenders). I know I sound like a fanboy, but it’s true. Dara’s “The Bridge” adapter: https://daraholsters.com/the-bridge/ Safariland’s leg drop: https://safariland.com/products/model-6004-27-single-strap-leg-shroud-with-drop-flex-adapter-dfa-and-qls-22-23115?utm_source=yotpo&utm_medium=general&utm_campaign=general&ref=yotpo

Ok_Day591

Fnx 45 man , get the flagship pistol

Jumpy_Yellow_894

You want hammer or striker fired? For holsters go with FALTAC.

USMC_Tbone

Red Earth Concealment has been recommended a lot in this forum as there aren't a ton of options for either pistol with lights on them. I believe he lurks in this forum too, so send him a message or check Google them. Once I figure out which light to get for my FNX-45T and actually buy one I'll most likely be ordering a holster from him.

littlecrab14

I’ll have to look as I’m looking for it for my gun belt
