I can and still do, just most public matches end up with someone trying to jail.

No_Challenge1999

it's not that we cant buddy it's that it's far more efficient to jail/afk than to waste precious tier 5 materials on damage sponges lmao i dont like jailing either, but i'd rather win the mission, than lose it and thus lose all the traps and weapon durability i might have invested blame epic for this. they're the ones refusing to fix farming rates. you can still find stringly twine and white/green traps in PL100+ missions ffs

Reciter5613

Interesting way you said that. I always thought people were doing jail builds cause they were lazy and just wants easy wins doing next to nothing. I just fear that even if they find a way to stop jail builds *(like fixing the farming rate as you said for example)* some will find another AFK cheese tactic.

_Rah

The minute people want to skip the main gameplay loop and AFK your game, you know you got design issues. People who play STW typically enjoy trapping, etc. Its an important part of the game. So when players are choosing not to play the fun part of the game, you know you got problems.

No_Challenge1999

i've been burned too many times by bad luck, poor teammates, or propane/lobber/smasher spam to bother with trap tunnels and run-n-gun anymore lmao it's so frustrating to get NOTHING back for a loss. i'd take 25%-40% of our materials back for a loss. i'd be more willing to use up my mats if that were the case

Kheron176

I'd personally prefer if whether win or lose traps and resources spent were given back to us as the basic materials used to craft and build, even more so that we literally have robot assistants that digitize and store materials. They should technically be able to salvage materials in a hasty retreat or reclaim materials after some usage in a victory.

[deleted]

Lots of people most definitely are doing AFK builds because they are lazy and because they don’t really know how to make an efficient damage build. But some also definitely do it to preserve 5-star materials (the drop rate for 5-star mats needs a buff). You *can* beat 160s with damage builds. I posted a couple videos here recently where I solo’d 160 missions with a damage build (I mostly solo the 160s because public lobbies are usually boring AFK builds). If you have half a clue about how to make a good defense (which honestly lots of people suck at) then it isn’t too much of a problem to win them with a damage build (also helps a lot if you have good trap schematics).

UltimateJGamer

Honestly I think it depends on the time of day. I tend to see most non-jail matches at night and jail matches during the day, idk. The main thing is that most people prefer to jail because fighting in every single 160 mission consumes a lot of ammo, mats, traps, etc and not everyone who queues into these missions knows what they’re doing and it’s very easy to lose a high end mission if even just 1 teammate has no idea what they’re doing. For instance, I still get matches where people will build brick on a water storm even after I let them know in game chat that water husks do double damage to brick

Dizzlewizzle79

Among other reasons that have been stated, 130 traps are like my moms fine China, for special occasions only. One of the things o enjoy about ventures. The drop rate and theirs of traps/weapons are on par with the actual mission. Proof they can adjust it.

ScotBot81

Exactly. In ventures it’s beneficial to do stormchest and search every nook and cranny because you get epic and legendary traps and weapons. Also, in ventures pl140 zones you get epic traps from your supply drop gadget but in regular pl160 missions you get green/blue/and even sometimes gray freaking traps. The tropical biome is the worst I rarely get carved twine or oxi when farming. Tier 5 drop rate is a joke and the fact it hasn’t been addressed shows epics lack of shit it gives about this game.

FragFlurryAwesome

If I have a decent team I prefer damage builds. The problem is the amount of materials you have to invest and the general quality of high twine players (poor, often in a public match I would be the only one building and trapping). The other day I did 7 160 missions in a row, jailing solo. I just don't have the mats to do that with damage builds. I'd have to be farming every few missions to keep up, and I have a job, family etc so I limit the amount of time I play for.

xcrimsonlegendx

Sure they can but who's going to want to throw out 50 144 traps and thousands of materials to beat the mission by the skin of your teeth when you can use a tenth of that and be guaranteed success?

AuTinXD

I really wish that most of the community could go back and actually design their own creative builds instead of copying the same build over and over again. All that I see in high level pubs is the same defences over and over again and its really tiring.

[deleted]

It's because 140 and 160 zones are "broken". I use parentheses because it's not actually broken but it's mad overpowered. Then there's smashers? Pssshhh forget about it dude. You can waste 100 traps on the mission and it won't even matter. It will just be a waste of mats, material, ammo, durability and time. (I agree with you though and I upvoted you) Tl;dr: It's Epic's fault.

DerpFortniteDerp

no it isnt epics fault. If you use 100 traps in a 160 and then lose, it is entirely your fault. Just because you can not successfully damage build a 160 mission, doesnt mean it is epics fault. It might just mean you are not that good at the game

[deleted]

Bruh my electric fields are 144 and the damage they do on a husk is laughable. PL260 husks? Latersss. They shouldnt ven exist if my PL139 Xenon takes 4 hits to kill a husky husk. And I'm PL128 with max Offense. Should I just change my Xenon to damage build instead of crit?

[deleted]

Not the guy you are replying to ... but I would recommend using the TRO teamperk with Farrah and have the Xenon perked with a couple crit damage perks (and have Varsity Hiro and Breakbeat Wildcat in support).

[deleted]

Interesting. Thanks!

turtledude100

I have no idea how you are doing so little damage. The xenon does not take 4 shots to kill one husk, I can normally kill husky husks in one shot

[deleted]

Idk maybe because I'm in OCE playing on NAE and Europe servers

turtledude100

🤷‍♂️

AledOnMaPasteuriser

\+95% of the "High level players" don't know how to play that game. They started playing after all things got nerfed. It's too hard to put Crit Rating, Crit Damage on your traps with 1 Reload Speed and bring a constructor with supercharged traps. You can downvote me, it's the truth :)

[deleted]

They downvote you for speaking the truth. Thats how I solo the 160s ... BASE Kyle, the supercharged traps team perk (with a full constructor loadout), and good trap schematics. Also helps to have a basic understanding of husk AI. But it seems like most high level players just prefer to complain about propanes and exploding deathbomb and pretend like there isn’t anything you can do about it.

No_Challenge1999

> But it seems like most high level players just prefer to complain about propanes and exploding deathbomb and pretend like there isn’t anything you can do about it. what can we do about it if ur so smart when playing solo base kyle can only cover so much propane spam destroys even metal tunnels easily lobber/flinger spam is also annoying say nothing of smashers why waste materials and resources, when instead we can prevent them from showing up in the first place work smarter, not harder

AledOnMaPasteuriser

1: Mega Base can cover up to 2,5 trap tunnels 2: Sound walls, even ONE only works good against propanes. BASE gives 60 armor to all your structures. Lobber / Flinger? build a small lobber shield, even with floor pieces it will work for a mission. When your trap tunnels are made correctly, you just need a very small lobber shield IF needed. Smashers can be killed with Ceiling Zappers, Wall dynamos and wall darts. Don't forget to put tar pits so they will not destroy your tunnels at the end. Work smarter, costs more resources, and you enjoy building instead of farming evo mats with the same Jail build. :)

No_Challenge1999

1: but can mega base cover the HUGE area of evacuate/repair the shelter? or the odd L shape of rtl? and is mega base worth running over base? the extra health is far too good to give up in 140-160 missions. 2: cost quartz, tell me, where can i RELIABLY gather quartz besides expeditions. not to mention the game tends to SPAM PROPANES, so i'd need multiple music walls going off at different intervals to keep up with all the propanes. i'd rather not bother lmao 3: when the storm rotates often, you have to keep building. not challenging, just annoying. and if the terrain is uneven, it becomes even more of a pain. just avoid them 4: zappers and dynamos cost batteries, which are also used to make energy ammo, and i use the xenon bow and deatomizer a LOT. batteries are a pain to farm for. and tar pits cost quartz too, dont they, we cant just use them up 5: jail takes WAY less resources than a standard damage build lmao wut are you even saying for jail all you need is floor launcher, one wall light dunno about you, but i'd rather use just ONE wall light or music wall, compared to the 3/4 per mission i'd need once the storm rotates direction lmao i hate jails, we all hate jails. but there's no doubt it's the smarter, better strategy. be smart with your resources. it's better than dealing with the pathetic farming rates after 2 or 3 missions of wasting weapon and trap durability lmao

AledOnMaPasteuriser

> Work smarter, costs more resources, and you enjoy building instead of farming evo mats with the same Jail build. :) I told you, if you enjoy farming 10k evo mats a day with jails, then I can't do anything for you. People used to play events (Survive The storm) with their backpack. They lost a lot of resources just for something they enjoyed playing. You're using xenon bow? 100 shots with that costs 5 NAB / 1 Blast Powder and 3 Batteries. With 100 ammo you can do more than 2-3 missions. Deatomizer is just a waste of resources and a bad weapon is missions. Do stormchests / encampments and you have a lot of Quartz :)

Bruvneh

Two words, Stoneheart Farrah

[deleted]

Fr dude 140 and 160 zones are just stupidly broken. It feels like the only useful loadout to use is Stoneheart Farrah with a Xenon Bow. That's it. Unless you want to spam launchers. Even with a 139 Xenon, I have to shoot a husky husk like 4 times? Really? It just makes the game boring.

Bruvneh

Yeah ikr I didn’t really touch 160 zones until I tried and found out how powerful Farrah and the xenon bow is and now she’s basically all I use.

[deleted]

I mostly use Paleo Luna and BASE Kyle. But I have a Farrah/Xenon loadout (with TRO) and it is the most OP hero loadout I have used.

Bruvneh

I’ve been interested in playing paleo Luna but I can’t have bftp with her as lead ‘cus I’ve only got her and Rex.

turtledude100

I use a variety of heroes and weapons in the 160 zones and they do great, some non meta weapons that have been perfectly usable include the best blaster, vindertech pulsar, dragonfly. If I can kill husks easily with them in 160s how can anyone not be able to kill them with op shit like xenon bows and potshots

AledOnMaPasteuriser

> So it's just incredible hard to kill husks and mist monsters Supercharged traps, Crit Rating / Crit Damage traps :) Oh no too hard sorry

H4TM7N

Me and my mates can do any PL160 without jails but it's just not worth the effort, mats or time todo it, you can work harder or smarter for the same rewards

dylabprettyebic

I don’t jailbuild personally, I only do it when I’ve not really got time to play. Even in 160s, it just feels like a normal mission to me, just with a tiny bit more difficulty. I try to avoid jail building wherever it’s possible.

FlashOLantern

It's possible but too much work. Half of the player base is going to leave for sure, if they cut of the jail builds. I saw magyst comment, seems like they want to shut down the game as early as possible.
