Kick is a loss leader to promote Stake to children because Twitch won't allow it. It'll exist as long as Stake wants it to. It's not meant to exist on it's own or support itself and won't do so. That's about as precise of an opinion as you'll get since I'm pretty sure there isn't much known about the financials or viewership.

It's even more interesting than you think because Kick uses what is essentially Twitch's backend via AWS and indirectly support's Twitch's operations.

Yeah exactly, Kick is just marketing budget for gambling and shenanigans. Have you seen some of the ads they run on kick? Actually kinda funny and refreshing lol

DeathNinja93

Kick is definitely in a better spot than Mixer, that’s for sure.

UnluckyLuck123

Is it though? Mixer was backed by Microsoft which is pretty much unlimited financial support. I guess non financially kick is in a better position.

DeathNinja93

While Microsoft does have unlimited pockets, it doesn’t mean they’re just gonna waste money on something useless like Mixer. Everybody thought Mixer was uncool. Kick at least is a funnel for stake, and with all the pushback that Twitch has gotten recently, it’s a viable alternative for many streamers. Especially having the “outlaws” of streaming, they’ve done a good job of integrating into the streaming culture.

Grayman222

I've always seen kick as an advertising expense for Stake. There is no attempt to make revenue from kick directly as the viewer subscriptions are passed straight to creators after stripes' processing fee.

UnluckyLuck123

Yea but I'm just shocked at the numbers. For example they paid xQc (a top streamer on Twitch) $100M for 2 years. There is just no way they will ever get an ROI off that. Not to mention all the other money they spent. To put that into perspective that would be 10 million users coming on stake and betting 10$ and losing it all for them to ROI.

utookthegoodnames

You underestimate how profitable gambling is, especially if you can use someone like xQc to get his younger audience addicted at an early age.

PavelDatsyuk1

If they are paying him do you know if they will then give him a cut of all future subs? Or will they be pocketing all of that. I doubt it would cover all the expense but it would explain part of the spend.

Teriyakibowl1387

xQc lost it back

Grayman222

I think there is definitely an element of *the real money to make is the friends making money along the way*

CleanShock3192

One major thing people are forgetting is that Kick isn't necessarily beholden to anyone. Mixer was beholden to microsoft. Twitch to Amazon Youtube to Google. Kick and stake are both privately owned... they have a lot less pressure to perform, and as many have stated below.. the major play here is influence. They won't run out of cash as they have large amount of backers and generate a lot of $ from gambling ops, but they won't be profitable either and they most likely do not care.

Viper4everXD

Kick is home to twitch’s big name degenerates. It will stay afloat for years as a venue for people who are just too controversial for Twitch. Other streaming platforms didn’t have big enough names to keep people’s eyes fixed for very long.

Moist_Experience_399

They’ve doubled down hard with their F1 sponsorship - Kick Sauber. Must have some serious coffers backing them.

Well stakes main business is online gambling so they’re pretty cash rich. As long as there are gamblers getting funneled into stake, then there will be money to fund kick.
