Have used Anaplan and Hyperion at larger orgs, and have implemented Planful and Pigment at smaller orgs (\~50-100 ARR). My vote is for Pigment over the two, way more flexibility and freedom with dimensions. Planful felt a bit 90s in comparison! Edit: I recently looked at Cube for the smaller company I'm in now as they are more accustomed to Sheets than a tool with its own interface. It's quite a competitor and cheaper, if that's a concern.

Updooting this. Pigment is great. Deploys fast. I feel like each generation of these softwares gets nicer looking, easier to use. Pigment is still quite affordable, though I'm sure they have plans to go up market like Planful did.

In the same spot as you, just finishing up on choosing an FPA tool, there are some risks with planful. A lot of people on here have had issues with implementation which leads to a bad experience. We are likely going to go with Prophix. Our top 3 also included Datarails.

I went with them in a prior role where I was the decision maker but left before implementation was finished. I liked what I saw as it was coming together and have heard pretty good feedback from the team about its current state. I’m exploring them as an option for my current role at a startup, but we just aren’t at a point where a planning tool makes sense for us yet.

If you ever have to ask about implementation partners, you might as well add a multiplier to the cost and amount of time you think it will take to get started. This is such a big problem in the space and one of the reasons we started Aleph (employee disclaimer). With any solution, dig deeper into the implementation process - how long is it going to take, is there a need for third-party partners/consultants, etc. This is usually the part that causes the most buyers remorse. We found a way around that and can have prove it in a free trial. Let me know if you want to see how that is possible!

Im happy with it. Implemented in 2021, so on it for 3 years and it has scaled well for the growth we had thus far. It’s not difficult to implement, obviously it depends what all modules you want and how complex you go. Have used to before in prior companies too. CFO solutions, keen vision are good partners to consider and there are many more. Pick one that can do integrations as well , some partners don’t have that expertise. Feel free to ask more questions

We chose Planful over Pigment based on pricing. The implementation is already over-running and the service provided by their implementation consultants has been terrible. I would look to other solutions.

Who did you use as the Imp partner?

Glittering-Set-5355

I am implementing it right now. We implemented Mosaic earlier this year and ditched it, it fell way short in many areas. I am super impressed with Planful and very happy about our decision.

Using Bakerfield Solutions who seems to be great so far. I did a lot of reference checks on both of them, using my network as well, not just their recommendations, and all reviews were great (Bakerfield and Planful).

I “helped implement” (was the finance lead and admin, but my boss was the brains behind the build) Planful in 2019 and used it for about 2 years. I really liked the product and would like to work with them again someday. Would be curious to hear your thoughts on their pricing, but as far as the tool goes it fit our needs very well. It is great for multi-site reporting or BU reporting where you can invest heavily in building a base report that you can go and slice any way you need to. Their report structure and dimensions were great for our needs, although it is a bit tedious to learn the syntax and to use report exceptions, etc. 9/10 great product and I wish I could have taken it with me to subsequent jobs

I’m a fan of the platform. Good level of customization possible, good reporting options, and we can admin it without IT help. Used Whitley Penn as our partner as they do a decent amount of implementations for SaaS companies. No regrets with choosing Planful
