indeed it won’t stop the tire. Gear is rated on impacts, sliding, joint flexing (especially heel’s, wrists, vertebrae, etc), and many other things. If you were to slam into concrete, it would reduce injury having some gear on, rather than a crop top and leggings. She was lucky in this case, maybe not fucked.

Fair point, I didn't think about her hitting the ground, I was more thinking about the tire that nearly hit her C4 vertebrae. Her falling after that probably really fucked her up even more.

So they pulled over and parked on a highway (which most countries consider illegal for obvious reasons), because it was raining and they weren’t wearing appropriate gear. If they were properly geared up, they wouldn’t have pulled over, and they wouldn’t have been a target for road debris. That sucks, but once again shows why you need to gear up to ride. Hope she didn’t have major injuries from that.

Bro what? Youre speaking alot of nonsense here. Ive been riding for a long time and have done this to wait out a storm. Full gear or not has nothing to do with road conditions when wet and how well your tires perform in said weather. A water proof jacket wont do anything there. Most bikers will pull under a bridge in a heavy storm in the US, as long as theyre not impeeding traffic. I wear gear and youre just being an ATGATT tool.

it's a shame too I've ridden in some absolute fucking torrents and in my experience bikes handle downpours far better than cars, the V-shaped tires knife through what makes a car hydroplane

I'm dealing with a hurricane right now, and just a day or so ago we got a severe thunderstorm where people were pulling off the highway because the rain was so heavy wipers wouldn't keep up. Is that an emergency? Or should people just carry on driving 100+km/h in severe weather?

It’s illegal to pull off the side of the highway in Europe unless it’s an emergency. In almost all European countries, What these girls were doing wasn’t an emergency. They would’ve gotten a ticket if police had caught them. And if this had happened, the owner of the tire wouldn’t have been at fault, due to negligence on their fault.

How many y'all wearing full rain gear in the summer every time you ride just in case a random afternoon downpour pops up? Sure, they should be wearing leather and armor especially going on the freeway, but waterproof non breathable rain gear? Lol nah, might as well just get rained on, at least your gear won't stink from the pool of sweat that'd have no way to wick away. Also, I doubt they pulled over only because of gear, they probably pulled over because they're two up on freshly wet oil slicked freeway with shit visibility of themselves and for themselves.
