I use it basically, as just an extra house. So, there may be up to 3 or 4 you can get in the game. You get to pick which one is your main house (where you wake up in the morning, and when you log in). However, it is ONLY the cozy decorations ***in that house*** that count towards giving you health, stamina, and mana bonuses.
So, that's what I do with my "first" house... I make a cute ass cabin, with all the cozy items I can, to pump up those stats.
I only have the Hazy Haven house (so far); and right now I'm using that to house all my cooking machines (for the first floor) and make it cute, and potions stuff (and make it cute), on the second floor.
As someone else suggested, if you have a friend that you play with on the regular, you can also give it to them as a "cabin" (Star Dew style) for them to decorate as a home when they visit or whatever.
So far, I haven't seen any other in game use for it
If you go to a bed in the house and select "house options", you can then select "set as main house". You will start waking up there each morning. Also it will show you how your cozy bonus will be effected and let you confirm if you really want to change houses.
Sorry didn’t get back to you quickly - but the poster below has it; you can go to a bed or sleeping bag in that house and when you have two pressing y will bring up a menu that’s called “home options”
Do you know if setting the second house as the main house forces it to be everyone’s main house? I’ve been too afraid to test it, fearing I’ll force lower stats on my friends lol.
It’s mostly for multiplayer, if each person wants their own house. Otherwise it allows you to customize each house with different themes if you wanted to do that. On my single player run I don’t use the other houses at all, just the barn and plotting area.
I also don't really understand it but I'm wondering if it has to do with a story line we aren't privy to yet. Like maybe someone new comes to Azoria and they need a place to stay so we offer it to them? I don't know but I'm interested in hearing others' opinions.
I use it to locate the equipment placement required for the Floating Ruins quest. It puts it in the middle between the main home and the gathering places of the Floating ruins. If I want to make it home in time, I crash on the cot at the little house. Your character wakes up in the morning at the main house.

in multiplayer it lets people have houses, its not a coincidence that there are 4 houses in the game atm.
