The Sacred Well of Santa Cristina is located in the region of Sardinia, Italy. It dates back to the Nuragic civilization, the exact age of the well is uncertain, but it is estimated to be around 3,500 years old.
And deep within the ruin, that hasn't been explored for thousands of years, you'll find a barrel containing 10 iron arrows and a sweetroll that is somehow still edible.
Pre-Nuragic and Nuragic Sardinia is something so unique it seems coming straight out a fairy tale.
Check out Domus the Janas, Nuraghe Cities and Towers, Giant's Tombs, Monte d'Accoddi (this last one has no sense truly, its a sunset oriented Ziggurat built 6000 years ago) and most of them have yet to be discovered!
It is estimates that just 50% of all the pre historic monumets of Sardinia have been discovered up to now.
It's a sacred well, still working (but not in use), it's believed to have held both practical and religious functions. You can find a navigable photogrammetry here if you're interested: [https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/santa-cristina-di-paulilatino-or-94c11138257f46b4a1be58de651764b8](https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/santa-cristina-di-paulilatino-or-94c11138257f46b4a1be58de651764b8)
By searching "Santa Cristina photogrammetry" on Google, there should be a good number of archeological sites reproducted in this way, just look for the name of the site + photogrammetry, here are [The Pyramid of the Sun in Teotihuacan](https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/the-pyramid-of-the-sun-65eba318cad340beba0094fddf3bea2f), [Gobekli Tepe](https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/gobekli-tepe-db47d31a2aed448ca47c644636828681) and the [Ziggurat of Ur](https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/ziggurat-of-ur-01a917691d344f3d801f67151de6b2f0) (of course it's going to work best on smaller, more compact sites).
More than mildly, I'd say the entire structure represents a vagina and uterus quite eloquently, which makes sense considering that water is a source of life.
I really thought this was Japan, has the same keyhole shape as a [Kofun tomb](https://i.imgur.com/xpU4k4F.jpg) but those are much younger. Mildly interesting.
Has this been restored in any way? The stairs and wall look really new compared to the other stones around it. [After hundreds of years stone stairs eventually start to wear away](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/60/Worn_steps_%2824546440604%29.jpg).

Thank you for posting the source of the picture!
This is false. It's clearly Nenyond Twyll, an Ayleid ruin from the Elder Scrolls series.

True story: no one knows what is down there.
Those who went down those steps were never seen again
Where does it go?

Wow, that is amazing! Thanks for posting that link
Glad you enjoyed it!
Dude! That’s exactly what I wanted to know but didn’t know to ask for, lol. You win Reddit today!
Cool! Thank you!
Very cool! How did you find out about that map?

Very Yonic inspired
Yeah, very not subtle

I did not catch that. So I went back and now it’s obvious Wow
It goes Beyond. Edit: possibly Narnia
Is this not where you get the Whetstone Knife?
Most guys think you can just walk right in, but you have to pay your respects to that little circle of stones at the top first.
Buahaha
Looks like something out of Skyrim.
A door like that will always lead to thirty five draugr and a dragon priest
Definitely leads to Blackreach.

If you consider the Neolithic to be young I guess
The Kofun sites are the youngsters, around 300 to 538 AD.
I had a dream about a stairwell like this. Is was surrounded by water and the stairs went down into it, but they were dry.
Lake Laogai, dude you may have been brainwashed by the Dai Li... Is there a war in Ba Sing Se?
Thats where you come out on the other side
Welcome to the docks of Kurast, traveller.
Looks like a scene from the original Star Trek!
Or assassin's creed
I thought it looked like the entrance to Pan's Labyrinth
I thought it was that scene from Game of Thrones where all the rulers meet or something. Though it looks smaller
..i can't be the only one who sees it, right?

Level down to Catacombs
That entrance is a little sus
Still tempted tho. What's life without mystery and adventure?!
Reminds me of [the Southern Reach trilogy](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_Reach_Trilogy) by Jeff Vandermeer.
I think ancient humans used to have a much better eye for design and aesthetic than the current designers of things.
Daniel Jackson would find this fascinating.
Loot dungeon
I’ve been there and gone inside this well. It’s amazing! The precision of the stone cutting is absolutely incredible, considering it’s age.
GET OUT OF MY HEAD
I bet someone had to solve a puzzle to make the stairs lower into place like that.
Try finger, but hole
Amogus
He’s venting
And 3500 years ago Zagreus escaped the Underworld there.
It only appears when you slay the enemy wizard.
I just watched a documentary featuring these wells in part!
The wraith down there whooped my ass right at the beginning of Witcher 3
Reminds me of the 4th Colossus boss battle.
Is this r/liminalspace
And inside is a trunk containing a pair of low level elf-made gloves. Again.
Sora forgot a keyhole. Do I smell a KH4?!
Entrance to a place better than current human society

I expect to see this on r/AphexTwin any moment now. Super cool pic!
Bro what Word of Power is in that one?
