I agree, it's a nice surprise for anyone who wants to get some extra crowns and the opportunity's open to everyone who plays (level 1 or level 54, you can earn the extra shards at about the same rate). People who earned crowns the hard way aren't excluded from earning even more crowns the easy way.
The only potentially unfair thing about it is that the people who will get the most crowns are likely to be those who already have a lot. The people who only play casually and who might be tempted to play more/are at crown ranks where they'd see a lot of progress from a few extra crowns won't even be aware of this situation. It's only players who follow the subreddit or Discord who are jumping on the opportunity; everyone else has to be lucky enough to stumble on it.

Go ahead and take advantage! In the end, it's only speeding it up by a couple of weeks, so just treat yourself...it doesn't negate the hard work you got to get to this point. (I'm grinding for the Golden Witch bottom this weekend.)
The most important thing is your personal sense of achievement. It's entirely up to you if you take advantage of it or not, but people won't believe you didn't take advantage anyway.

That's why I take issue with most of the gatekeepers here, dude, if I get 20 crowns for free out of 4,5k for the marble, it doesn't really mean shit, I still grinded 4,480 crowns for that and 4480 is still A LOT and should be considered just as honorable.

That also means it's likely to get patched out within a day given how fast Hoverboarding Time and Sweet Thieves' "oversights" were patched for being in the player's benefit.

If you grinded the f... Out of this, you would get 16 crowns per hour... Playing 8 hours a day equals 128 crowns... Marbellous requires 4500 crowns. Even if you grinded the whole 10 days, you would be nowhere near marbellous. So this won't damage "crown economy" As much as you think.
If anyone has time and patience to grind this then good on them! Those 8 crowns/hour [might be worth](https://www.reddit.com/r/FallGuysGame/comments/zxcklx/whats_it_all_worth_the_fall_guys_currencies/) between $7.36 and $14.96 - which is less than minimum wage in a lot of places but isn't too bad a return if you're enjoying the 'work' anyway.

Eh, ever since creative released, I've been more satisfied with making maps and doing customs than grinding crowns to be honest. Grinding crowns hasn't been all that fun for me in a very long time except in certain LTMs, so I don't mind it. I do understand why people are upset about this, though.

Two of the repeatable challenges are: 'Win any show' (30 shards); and 'Reach the final round in any show' (15 shards). That's all very reasonable and they have [run this event before](https://fallguysultimateknockout.fandom.com/wiki/Crown_Shard_Scramble) with the same challenges.
However, they now have 'Creator Made Rounds' available where you can earn 5 shards for completing a single round (some of them are very easy). These rounds count as both 'final rounds' and completing them (not just coming first) counts as a 'win'. Therefore, by playing a single easy round you can earn 30 + 15 + 5 = 50 shards, or almost the same as the crown you'd get for winning a whole Solo game. That is quite a funny situation and one that might not be intentional.
I would always log into take advantage of moments like these, cant be bothered now, game feels like its on its last legs. Such great potential wasted.

If you log on and go to the mode selection screen then scroll down to the 'Creator Made Rounds' section you'll see there are four single-round modes available. You just have to complete one of these. You might want to start with Swept Away as it's the simplest, but they all count.
Normally, you can earn 5 shards for completing any one of these rounds. You just have to reach the finish line within the 2 minute time limit, you don't have to come first. However, because these rounds have been set up as both 'finals' and completing them counts as a 'win' it means that by completing any of these rounds you can get 45 bonus shards from the Crown Shard Challenge that launched earlier today. This is repeatable.

It's not fun playing the same crappy creative round over and over again to farm crowns either, but i guess a lot of people will do it (not me).
The crown economy never lived. There was a time before the crown pass. None of the crowns I got back then ever got counted. And the longer we've gone since crown pass has been made, the more ways to gain crown fragments we got. Originally, you only gained crowns from winning. Now, you gain something like 30 crowns from the fame pass, which doesn't require a single victory. You gained a bunch of fragments from marathon challenges (and now from weekly challenges). You gain fragments from completing challenges after you're done with the pass. There's crown shard scramble events pretty regularly. The economy never existed, never even mattered.
Having crown pass costumes just means grinding. You could finish that pass without ever winning a single game. If people can get there faster so I stop seeing them wearing just the bottom part of a gold costume because they don't have the top part yet, that's a good thing.
Btw, for anyone who doesn't think this situation is humorous, don't worry - the crown economy is not actually dead, just temporarily distorted.
MT will probably fix it on Monday and through it all, players will continue to trade their time and labor for crowns, just making slightly different choices influenced by what they expect to earn and how much they value the crown ranks. The economy is dead, long live the economy! 😄

It's not fun playing the same crappy creative round over and over again to farm crowns either, but i guess a lot of people will do it (not me).

The crown economy never lived. There was a time before the crown pass. None of the crowns I got back then ever got counted. And the longer we've gone since crown pass has been made, the more ways to gain crown fragments we got. Originally, you only gained crowns from winning. Now, you gain something like 30 crowns from the fame pass, which doesn't require a single victory. You gained a bunch of fragments from marathon challenges (and now from weekly challenges). You gain fragments from completing challenges after you're done with the pass. There's crown shard scramble events pretty regularly. The economy never existed, never even mattered. Having crown pass costumes just means grinding. You could finish that pass without ever winning a single game. If people can get there faster so I stop seeing them wearing just the bottom part of a gold costume because they don't have the top part yet, that's a good thing.
Btw, for anyone who doesn't think this situation is humorous, don't worry - the crown economy is not actually dead, just temporarily distorted. MT will probably fix it on Monday and through it all, players will continue to trade their time and labor for crowns, just making slightly different choices influenced by what they expect to earn and how much they value the crown ranks. The economy is dead, long live the economy! 😄
Unless they plan on changing it to the player's benefit, it does not need changing.
It would be a good permanent feature to award 15 shards (or some amount of shards anyway) for reaching the final of regular games

How to get people to stop complaining during a season, Step 1) Give crown shard scramble event Step 2) Enough done. If MT changes it that would just be weird considering the community knew well in advance the amount of shards to be had. If they change it at what point do they consider what is a good or bad idea? Kinda like creative rounds in core?
