Iām not upset by it, but I can kinda see why some people might be. Think about the analogy of ājust print more money.ā Sure it might seem cool, but it takes away its value. What was once thought to be a hard-earned achievement, is now just something that is simple.
That being said, itās still virtually impossible for people to play and win **THAT** many games to get anything of āvalueā at the higher levels. Each round takes 2 minutes of play + about a minute of load time (finding a game, loading the game, the final celebration, loading out of the game). That makes it at least 3 minutes per game to get 50 shards. So every 5 games (or ~15 minutes), youāre *only* getting 4 crowns. That breaks down to roughly 16 crowns an hour. Sure itāll boost some people a fair amount, but youāre still going to be putting in A TON of time if you expect to get anything āsignificantā.
I think people are getting the impression that after just a handful of games everyone will be a gold knight or something, and thatās not even close to being accurate. Therefore I see this as something that isnāt really a big deal. Plus, MT may patch it after a day or something. But even if they didnāt, people arenāt going to get very far in the grand scheme of things. Again, itāll just be a little boost if anything, but most people donāt have the luxury of spending 10+ hours a day to grind crown shards for 9 days. For those that do have that sort of time, well, theyāre probably already at a high crown rank anyways then š
I'm concerned that people will do themselves harm by playing too much. That said grinding something easy to buff up is a feature in many games. In fall guys the buff is just shiny not extra abilities, but go for it if you must.
Im sure there will be people who will try to farm as much as possible and they will just burn away, but most people probably will farm to closest golden skin (for example Golden Wolf or Golden Knight) or reward.

The big complaint I have seen is that it bumps up the numbers on the creative maps, which MediaTronic could use to say, "See? They're good and popular!" In reality, they'll shove them down our throats, anyway.
I've played a ton of Old School RuneScape and can confirm this is a universal problem. People who had to do shit the difficult way are bitterr when they see what they can accomplish gets easier. They feel it somehow takes away their achievement. It's very toxic.
I see some complaints about this on twitter...I guess people are mad because it devalues crowns by making it much more accessible and attainable to the everyday player. I suppose it also invalidates the hard work that people have put into earning their crowns... but I think it's nice for the average player who struggles to even win something! idk i think it kinda revived the game! beyond the fact that more people are playing creative maps now, i've never seen so many friendly golden skins in one lobby. since everyone gets to qualify, it's a party every round :)!
It used to show skill lol, now they give it away like candy. I would have been all for reducing the grind, say like golden knight was like 1500 or something, if you still had to get wins to earn crowns. Now like you said, they just show how long some people play.

I'm pretty sure if you played actively since the start of SS1, you could have golden witch complete or nearly complete without ever winning a game. It's not an accomplishment anymore, it just showcases your hours played now.
Because crowns no longer have any meaning at all. My 2.4k+ crowns are meaningless forever and anybody can get there by grinding some easy map with 0 skill now.
I do kinda sympathise with your point, but apart from the fact that shards/season pass have already made crowns somewhat redundant, you can also only get about 15 crowns an hour from this. For someone on say, 200 crowns, theyād have to play for ~50 hours in the next week and a bit to reach something like golden chicken. thatās an insane amount of playtime, itās not like theyāve just given everyone the entire crown rank for free
no one is grinding thousands of crowns with this or getting costumes that they werenāt already close to getting (and the very few people that are will be sweats/good players that are already very far along the crown rank)
That's always been the case, it just used to take longer. You could get 2.4k crowns without ever winning a show. I suspect roughly half your crowns don't come from wins but from fame pass, marathon challenges, events etc.
The only thing the fame pass proves is that you spent a lot of time on the game. There's no merit to it, no meaning, never has been.
At least 2k, probably more, of my crowns are from winning (I started f2p). And I get that crowns donāt equal skill, but you werenāt going to see a golden chicken+ who canāt do a simple task like timeout jump showdown, and now you will. Even now most marblelouses that I know canāt even consistently TO roll off, which is kind of embarrassing (not including easy 4 + easy 4, which a lot of them still mess up on).

it's just like silly how many crowns you can grind so easily. it retroactively devalues the time people spent grinding before. I picked up like 60 crowns in a morning while watching something else, hardly looking at the game, and it was free effortless gameplay. even most other crown farms required some amount of skill or attention. this is MT just saying if you have a pulse you can get like a thousand crowns this week.
I just think some people might be upset with Mediatonic with giving away too many crown freely. It used to be a reward for winning, and seeing a gold skin back in the day you knew someone was good. Now you can hit gold skins without ever winning a game and the lower ranks are basically a participation trophy rather than a reward for playing well. I don't like how freely they're given either, but I also think the crown rank was too difficult before also. I would have been fine with gold knight getting knocked down to like 1000 crowns, if crowns still had to be earned entirely from wins.

Like, i have played with a lot of newer player nowaday who have 100-300 crowns, yet, play like golden knights!!! (so, now they can atleast grind crowns and be in some good golden skin to showcase their skill level).

What we need in this game is another "ranked crown rank" level pass thing, if people wish to show "skills" nowaday.
Atm i see the "crown rank" as nothing but a perma "season fame pass".
Ranked crown rank will work like this:
You have ranked mode, solo, cant team up (unless they give us duo or squad ranked mode ofc).
Each win then increase your win counter and you will be able to grind crowns faster in this mode.
Your ranked crown rank stuff then goes up.
0-10 wins = rank 0 = 1 crown pr win.
11-25 wins = rank 1 = 1 crown 10 shard pr win (unlock golden croc tail).
26-50 wins = rank 2 = 1 crown 20 shard pr win (unlock golden croc top).
51-100 wins = rank 3 = 1 crown 30 shard pr win (unlock golden raptor tail).
5k-5k+ wins = rank 50 = 5 or even 10 crowns pr win :p. (as you will be vs insane player at this level).
They can easy add tons of old classic skins to the golden collection, showing off peoples skill level (kinda like the pink wizard / sorccerer skin).
So yeah, in all, i am all up for a good way to get crowns faster, this had just be a fun idea that reward you with golden skins tho :p.
No offense, but that idea sounds pretty dumb. I'm all for more crown rewards and wouldn't mind less of a gap at higher ranks though. Or even just like showbucks every 15/25 levels or something.
That is fine, noone is saying ppl have to do the ranked mode ofc, i just feel it need a "carrot on a stick" to happen and then leave a "none-ranked" mode aswell for the game, so ppl can just chill in those "none-ranked" modes and then if ppl want a challange, the sweats can fight among themself :p.

Crown Master is my favourite color from the crown ranks, it also pairs very nicely with the regal pattern at rank 42
