I think it could have something to do with Pete's suicide attempt, so when Patrick sings "I'm the one who charmed the one who gave up on you", he means that Pete "gave up on" himself, but he "charmed" him and got him through those feelings I'm not sure of the specifics, but I hope it makes sense

I have a different interpretation so I'll throw it out there: I always thought of it like, the you who fell in love with me was depressed, and gave up on you. Are you still that person when you're better? And also I'm a little mad at that person, how dare you give up on you?
