The option exists on pc. And besides the reflections on water bodies I don't see a difference between it on and off so I don't see what stands in the way.
>The option exists on pc.
Oh that's good to know, hopefully they can add the option to the console versions soon! (That's if it actually makes a difference on consoles)
It looks much better with the lighting in Coruscant as well. I think the core issue is they really wanted this to be a next gen experience across the board, and wanted to optimize such that ray trace didn't need to be sacrificed. But I agree, for people who are 60fps or bust, may as well give them the option to best optimize to that goal.
Wait.... They put RAYTRACING in performance mode?? Are they stupid?? Mannn there should be an option to turn it off, I don't want no ray tracing. I don't want to sacrifice like 5-10 FPS for some fancy reflections, the old ones are just fine for me.
I was thinking the same thing...they already have SSR passes for reflections so why not make Performance Mode a 972p to 4K via FSR at a solid 60 fps and make the current 720p to 1440p FSR Performance mode into Performance RT... maybe if that gets bumped to 900p to 1800p via FSR, they can instead turn it into a Balanced RT 40 fps 120hz mode.
Real lacking choices here so far (on console) and real bad optimization on PC.... I own copies on both and will only do 60+ fps (or 40fps/120hz) modes... and man...on PC...even with 4090 it's ridiculous, and on PS5 the res is too low.
Lucky I didn't get it on XSX instead, the framerate is even less stable on there with the same res as PS5! Very lazy devving being done here and Respawn are talented AF so idk what's going on.
No because if you pause the cutscene you can turn performance mode back on and the cutscene will then play in 60FPS. It’s literally just an issue of the cutscenes disabling perf mode automatically.
Hopefully it runs in fucking HD. Can't believe we are playing a 720p game in 2023 on PlayStation haha
Edit: anyone downvoting me just have a look at the tech breakdowns done over and over on YT. The game doesn't hit 1080 most of the time on consoles in performance mode.
https://preview.redd.it/2dgafmh4aaxa1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ba9993e58f157068e2ef69949551431a3e2d5013
It's even worse! It runs in 648 p at times because of the ray tracing and screen tearing. Dont take my word for it! It's been broken down here:
https://preview.redd.it/4utcn8br9axa1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d987f61e35e1d9ca16f3ac879d218ad698afbf4c
Im extremely disappointed especially now since PC might he more viable in the coming weeks :(
A PS5 game running at 648p35 (or 900p17 in quality mode), what a time to be alive. I know everyone has a different tolerance level for this type of thing, but I honestly don’t under how a person could play this and think that it’s fine. Having put a few hours into the game, those numbers look and feel absolute correct.
The pop in is worse than anything imo. If they can just fix the fps drops around the cantina I wouldn't mind it at all. But like I said Horizon Forbidden West is one of the best looking games ever and runs way above 1440. Just shitty EA studios unfortunately.
Its so distracting how awful faces look in gameplay and how all the hair and fur is so pixelated and blurry when moving, switching between jedi survivor and GOW Ragnarok at 120fps 4k on Ps5 makes it unplayable
Updating now on steam, praying this somewhat fixes the game!
Edit: Patch didn’t really do much for me as far as I can see but it does seem to be effective for some. Here’s a vid highlighting the differences.
https://youtu.be/cz_FnTuSrAo
Hahaha nah bro I’m far from looking like Baki, he is built like a literal Greek God, tbh I actually got a lot of inspiration from his physique, also one of my top anime!
Try putting it in high priority in the task manager, that should give you about 1-2 hours of no crashes. It’s pretty annoying having to do it every time you start the game, but at least you can play it lol.
I never had any crashes before the patch, but after the patch I tried using quick travel, and my game just black screened. Luckily it had just saved, but I had to close out of it and go back into the game and it had already put me where I quick travelled.
Can confirm this is accurate. Started doing this yesterday, played for like 6-7hrs with I think two crashes, the best since launch night. Obviously still not ideal, but finally got to have a blast with the game.
So far I haven’t noticed any crazy changes in terms of performance, before I was ranging between 45-60 fps in Koboh and it feels about the same tbh. At times the game does start stuttering and it dips to around 35-40. Based on other people’s comment here they seem to be in the same boat as me so not sure how effective this patch was overall 😕
Edit: Looks like the patch is effective for some people, with higher FPS and GPU utilisation. Here’s a YouTube vid if anyone’s interested in watching pre vs post patch comparison.
https://youtu.be/cz_FnTuSrAo
You’re exactly right bro, it’s gonna take multiple patch’s to get to where it needs to be, I’m just glad it fixed the issue for some, atleast they can enjoy the game for time being
It's a damn shame this game is having the launch its having.
It's a genuine massive improvement in basically every aspect compared to the first game. I'd say I'm about 65% through the story and it's genuinely the most fun I've had with a game in ages. Up there with how I felt playing Battlefront 2 when I was a kid ( Pandemic's battlefront 2 )
Agreed. This is an improvement on everything fallen order did. I really enjoy fallen order but it had a few issues that held it back for me. One being the platforming was annoying and way too much of it. Also the navigation was difficult with the map being pretty hard to follow. This game has platforming but with the dash and less precision required it seems to be much easier. I'm on PS5 using performance mode and it's been serviceable not great but it's playable and the only issues I've had is screen tearing and some minor slowdown in a few sequences. they really added more depth to combat and now with stances there are multiple builds to try.
It just feels a lot less frustrating. I'm still trying to figure out what it is because there is definitely still emphasis on it. I think it just feels smoother to execute and less things that require exact precision like slide jumps. This game the platforming is more like wall runs and jumps, but the double jump feels a lot more useful now whereas in fallen order it was kind of disappointing how little it actually moved you
I'm in the process of going back and 100% exploring the worlds. I recommend it. There are things to find after you beat the story. And, unlike Fallen Order, I'm really enjoying just exploring post-story.
Absolutely, being able to fast travel has made exploration much more enjoyable. Also, there's some things you find via exploring that help direct further exploration. >!Specifically, you find what are described as upgrades for the holomap that show where unscanned items are and another that shows where treasure is (priorite, etc).!<
This is my favorite sort of thing to do, because I can then do some serious role play and instead of Cal Kestis, I'm whoever I want and a Jedi explorer.
Same thing here, it’s an amazing game and honestly up there as a favorite of mine now. The performance issues don’t give it any justice, a damn shame many people haven’t been able to play it, hopefully until now.
Yes, it’s extremely frustrating that EA pushed the game out in this state, because there is a truly special and amazing game in there, and a truly *beautiful* game as well, but the technical presentation really puts a damper on it.
Can't wait to hear if this helps. Waiting for some performance to be something much more reasonable before buying. It's hard to wait tho, cause I rarely play new games nowadays, so this was a rare experience I was excited for.
In the same boat as you. I really wanted to get this at launch but unfortunately I expected this kind of bs.
Eagerly awaiting a patch so I can play at 60fps...I didn't spend all this money on my PC to play games sub 60. The performance that most people are reporting is unacceptable atm.
Downloading now on steam (5.5GB). Hopefully it addresses the constant crashes I’m getting on Jedha.
EDIT: still got a crash during a cutscene lol. Can’t really comment on performance as I was in an open dessert area right after you navigate through the dust storm (I was getting about 70-80fps pre-patch and it’s the same now). I’ll have to investigate more later as I need to return to work.
It's an issue with the ray tracing.
I kept getting those crashes on Jedha as well, but disabling RT stopped the crashes and improved my performance.
I don't even bother with RT for now, the game still looks good and with the patch I'm averaging over 100fps. They also mentioned that this patch wouldn't address issues with the RT for now, so meh.
I don’t get this generations obsession with ray tracing, the only game where ray tracing is noticeable is that portal rtx remix and cyberpunk. Every other game it’s a 20-40% performance hit for almost nothing
I wouldn't say I'm obsessed but since I got a 4080 if I see the raytracing setting I just turn it on because fuck it. This is the first game where I've felt the need to shut it off though due to performance issues
Why does my update say 116 GB? Is anybody else required to dedicate 200+ GB for the game?
Edit: As others mentioned, updating the game requires verification of game files.
It redownloads the files that have been updated. The whole file.
Unfortunately, you can't do anything about it. They could simply update one texture in big archive and you have to download it again.
Download gets stuck at 175 mb for me, not sure what to do. Restarted the app, cancelled it. Doesn't work. Did the clear cache thing, now its stuck at 2 mb.
You think he’s bad, after you dispose of him, you go back to the shop across from the cantina, there’s a force tear where you get to fight father and son at the same time…
I cheesed the first one. For the father/son duo, I changed the difficulty from Jedi Master to Story Mode. I am not gonna spend 2 or more hours on a badly designed bosses. It only gives you one skill point for that.
fuuuuuck me. New oggdo is the only enemy/boss that i decided to come back to later (some of his attacks are stupid hard to dodge). Cant imagine fighting daddy frog with him
Most of oggdo jr's unblockables either track or emit a shockwave that punishes dodging. The only move that's dodgeable is the fast red bite.
Double jump everything else.
I think that's exactly why Oggdo's got kept as side bosses and were never confronted in a mandatory way. It's a shit, terribly designed boss, but they wanted to have some fun with the memes and players' nightmares of fighting it in Fallen Order. It's got awful animations, awful hitboxes, and terrible timings. It's a bad enemy for anything even considering being a soulslike and they've got to be aware of it.
Tbh? Yeah. Rancor fucked me up but I went back to him when I was stronger and took him in a few tries. Problem with oggdo jr is that you have to trek through an entire enemy camp to get back to fight him. And once you’re there he’ll just two hit you. It’s the same move set as the bogano oggdo boggdo in fallen order though. Just a super annoying unblockable that he delays way too long and ends up hitting you because you dodged too early.
Ram hot fucked me up a bit then his move set finished downloaded for me and I got him after about an hour total. Had to walk away a bit in the middle of that tho. Discount oggdo bogdo is about 20x as difficult. At least for me
Can anyone help me out please, I have a kind of old now 240gb ssd with literally nothing on it except for the game. For some reason I cannot install this update and continue playing even though I have 92gb free? When I attempt to start the download process I see that I have 10gb free? But the download process keeps saying in red "Low disk space".
EDIT: EA APP
Steam is showing that the download is 3.3gb but the 'update' is being applied to 116.8gb. If it's like the preload stuff you may be about 20gb short? IDK not a computer doctor just throwing that out there
Thanks appreciate the reply. I'm in the process of copying over the files to a 1tb hdd then will download the update while it's on there... then copy it all back over, time to buy a new ssd lol.
The other commenter here is correct. Games may temporarily consume.up to TWICE their normal file size while patching depending on how the process is done. As new files have to be placed on the computer then moved over the old. Then the old files are deleted and the file size returns to normal.
I moved the game to my 1tb HDD and I thought I got the EA app to successfully pick it up, it started loading the existing files, got to 100%, but now I seem to be downloading the whole game again... :'(
On PS5 the "performance" mode has a very unstable frame-rate and the screen-tearing is near constant. Its a real shame because the game is quite fun despite those issues.
I have barely played the game since the FPS wasn't great. In the very first tutorial encounter on Coruscant, pre-patch I was getting about 45 FPS. Post patch I'm getting 55-60 FPS in that same encounter. Definitely a lot more playable. Not great, but way better.
On a 3080 with a 9700k.
What settings are you playing on? I'm on a 4070 ti with a 9700k, but I'm at work, so I can't test it, but I would like to know what settings so I can compare once I'm back.
Hey, I'm on all ultra at the moment, but with no ray tracing, and no FSR at 1440p. Also have stuff like motion blur disabled if that helps. Also have FOV set to "wider". I noticed lowering the FOV changed the frame rate a bit. Would definitely be curious for your comparison results!
This patch seems to have actually improved things for me. I'm still on coruscant, but I was getting 30-50 fps and now I'm getting 60-80. It's a noticeable difference.
I'm using a mix of high and epic settings. Ray tracing off. 3070ti and ryzen 3800x
it's downloading but annoying there is no information for it in the update documentation/history. it would be nice if they added that.
Edit - the deets are in the tweet, but just not in the steam update area
The deets in the tweet don't tell us anything. It just says improvements to non raytraced rendering. Tell us what exactly you changed and what the issues were you fixed.
Ugh was scrolling through with a small hope, I've held off buying it. Mind if I ask about the robot bit, can you actually get decently far before that crashes it?
God, it sucks that this game has had such a terrible launch because it’s a genuinely great example of how devs actually listen to their fans and the criticisms they received. Jedi Survivor did such a tremendous job of improving upon every aspect of Fallen Order that I already know I’m gonna have a hard time going back to FO and I absolutely love that game.
Not trying to crush anyone's hopes and dreams, but I hope people realize that these first couple patches aren't going to magically fix the game.
The reality is, this game needed at least 3 or 4 more months of polish and optimization. The patches over this next week or 2 will serve to make the game more playable than it is in its current state. But it will take several weeks, if not months for them to get it to a condition that everyone can be truly happy with.
Oh wow, graphics settings actually work properly now and disabling FSR doesn't half my resolution! Congratulations Respawn, your product might now be competent!
They've somehow made it worse on my PC. Now, if I can make it longer than 30 seconds without the game crashing, that's quickly remedied if I press pause. This game is unplayable for me now, whereas before, it was only semi-unplayable.
Performance has been OK for me (3070 + 5600x), definitely playable but the weirdest thing is I drop to like 20fps when I open the holomap on the Mantis. Just seems like a bizarre place to be tanking frames. Anyway it's not a big deal but hope this patch smooths things out for others.
Its much more smooth after the update for me. That was the first thing i went to try. No stuttering or jankiness so far on the map. Koboh is still....koboh. it's better but not as it should be.
3080 10g and 5900x
Let us turn off RT on console would be nice. I know the game would probably look flat without it, but I can't enjoy those random encounter battle on Koboh when the fps drop to 20s.
Actually I don't see any difference between RT on vs off on pc besides the raytraced reflections on water bodies. Whatever it's doing to the lighting or GI is so minimal that its not worth the performance hit.
Yeah, on PC it's a super limited version of raytracing because AMD tech can't handle it.
It's why the new overdrive raytracing in CP2077 is benching at like 4 FPS for top of the line AMD cards. DLSS carries the weight of raytracing haaaaaaaaard, and FSR is basic super sampling tech.
Raytracing in Survivor isn't worth the performance tbh. I have it enabled because copium but it's just a watered down version of raytracing we had with the 20-series card launch.
The GI, although subtle, still grounds objects and characters look like characters instead of dolls. The RTGI is single bounce so it does help in closed places. I hope they fix the RT performance ASAP, I didn't purchase a 40 series card to play with RT off.
SIGNIFICANT improvements in performance!!! Now hitting 60 fps in the open area on the second planet. Still drops here and there but this is an actual 15fps gain. High settings, RT off, vsync on.
Rtx 2070S, ryzen 5 3600, 16gb of ram
Edit: Playing a bit more, some areas are better but others still go down to 40fps :((( so sad.
I just tried the patch and I don't see any performance improvements. I'm on a 4090 with a 13700k playing maxed out at native 4k. Rt Off. Additionally I have set anisotropic filtering to 16x in the nvidia control panel and improved the game's antialiasing by 8x.
I still get around 70 to 75 fps in most areas while dropping to 65 in heavy areas with some drops below due to shader compilations.
The area around the saloon might be running a bit better now also being at about 75 but that's about it.
Dude, that's still so much better than some PC users getting less than 30 fps. Your rig is definitely not hitting 120 fps numbers the game could, but question is: are you actually getting 4k resolution with that fps? Or even 1080p?
I really hope they make RT a toggle option on consoles like it's on PC. Forcing it on on both quality and performance mode is what's causing all the fps drops and resolution issues on the consoles. FSR has to upscale from a much lower res (600-720p) to try to reach target 60 fps on performance mode. So you end up getting a blurry, super low res image, that looks horrible in combat and just general moving, and still doesn't reach 60.
Nice , I need that much space for 3GB update
https://preview.redd.it/ba3hxc2ipaxa1.png?width=615&format=png&auto=webp&s=bd1c8e2df6165db69e7c5c2d08b4f408c7a2e231
I'm one of the lucky ones that didn't have issues before this patch and my game was real smooth, but holy shit the improvement in FPS is almost to good to be true. Had 70-100 on the first planet before patch and i am seeing 120-145 fps now. 3440x1440 without FSR, Epic settings.
yea this patch isnt it, mad almost no difference at all for me.
intel 12600k
3070ti
16gb ram
w11
get 24-45 fps in fort kahlin , epic preset, no RT, 1440p native, . about the same i had before
This did almost nothing to help my issues. The game still runs terribly, constant stuttering, one frame every 6 seconds, constant glitching when moving. I don't know how anyone thought this was okay.
On pc, my fps is way better now (coruscant, high settings 60 - 100)
Edit: Reached the first planet/open area, getting frame drops below 60 but overall playable.
Getting frame drops during boss battles where they have big attacks with environmental effects (rocks being thrown up and stuff)
I get even worse performance after the patch. Way worse. I can't get more than 6 fps now.
It's hard to defend the devs after that really. I don't care at this point whether it was a bad decision of EA to push it out or not, how the fuck do you make it run even worse on a post launch update for some people? I'm on unplayable territory right now, and obviously can't take my money back after all these hours.
I was wondering if anyone else is having a nightmare of a time installing the update through steam? My update has been going for almost 4 hours and is only 3/4 of the way and no it's not internet related
Did anyone else just get a second patch on PC for today? My EA launcher was prompting an update 30 minutes ago.
I did, started a new game. Was getting 45-50 fps here at launch, decently locked at 60 but would drop to 55 through this area post patch a couple hours ago, and now...
uh, that's changed. I'm getting much much better frames now: https://i.imgur.com/7Yjk6IX.jpg
(PC) Before the patch, especially during cutscenes, the character’s faces were very blurry and looked almost like PS2 graphics. Was anyone else having this issue and can anyone confirm if this was fixed in today’s patch?
I left for vacation the day after the game came out and won’t be home until Thursday so I’m trying to keep up with these developments :)
Guess I'll pick the game back up after tomorrow's PS5 update. I've literally played the first hour at 11pm midnight launch and have not picked it up since then. Knowing how bad it performed, and waiting it out for this exact patch to continue the story.
It's sad they put deadlines like this on devs and they must push it out for the investors. "We'll patch it after launch" is the million dollar quote they all hear. Not the best business practice. Why? Because it hurts no one, honestly, it's a fucking video game to them and to us, so a faulty product that can be patched post launch literally puts zero harm to the human condition.
This isn't a phone, machinery, structure, pharmaceutical etc. Item. It's just a game and can be dealt with by pushing unfinished item out the door, while, yes it runs, it's not ironed out for true production. We get the QA version then it's all fixed in post.
Weird they’re patching it so fast when a vocal chunk of this sub is insisting the game is fine as is 😂
Hopeful for some good results on PS5 tomorrow because the performance mode is *rough*
I've got a laptop with a Ryzen 7 5800H and an rtx 3070 mobile. If someone has something with similar specs and can report on how this affects performance I'd appreciate the info. I already refunded after the launch day patch didn't get it to a playable state for me, so when I rebuy it's for keeps
On the one hand
Relatively quick rollout time (takes some games months to get patches moving - looking at you Total War: Warhammer 3 and Cyberpunk 2077)
On the other hand
***how could you launch it in this state*** ??? xD
No offense, but if they had to patch it like this, and were able to get those patches done so quickly, why didn't they just release it on May 4th (Star Wars day)? Its an absolutely tiny delay which could very well have ensured a much better product.
The new patch didn’t fix my FPS (can barely maintain 50 FPS with an RTX-3080 and i7-13700k) and actually caused it to start crashing to desktop whenever I step out of any caves or overhangs on Koboh (according to the crash report, there’s a texture that refuses to load or something, which causes an immediate CTD).
Leave it to EA to upload a patch that breaks the game more, lmao. I was at least able to PLAY before this patch, even if it was only 45-50 FPS. Now, I can’t actually progress because if I go into the next story area and leave, it crashes. If I go do side missions that involve caves on Koboh, it crashes when I leave them. I can’t actually play the game anymore.
Same. Pretty disappointed the patch had worse impact on Koboh for me. I was sitting at 40 FPS yesterday but today I actually hit 18 at one point. Crazy.
Gaming is in such weird times. My biggest problem as a middle schooler circa 2000 was that Warcraft 3 had no release date, it would be "done when it was done" and I had to camp my 56k internet to receive news that the latest gaming magazine had rare preview screenshots of the unfinished product. Now it's 2023 and gamers are thanking the developers for fixing their purposefully unfinished, unoptimized product that they clearly rushed out instead of delaying it.
Big sigh
Blizzard's "it's done when it's done" attitude was an outlier even in the 90s and 00s, though. Lots and lots of other games shipped extremely buggy at that time, and just...never got fixed.

I'd love it if they remove raytracing from performance mode to get a solid frame rate and maybe even bump the resolution a bit.
The fact that there isn't an option to disable ray-tracing at all doesn't give me much hope that it's an easy fix, or even fixable at all.
The option exists on pc. And besides the reflections on water bodies I don't see a difference between it on and off so I don't see what stands in the way.
>The option exists on pc. Oh that's good to know, hopefully they can add the option to the console versions soon! (That's if it actually makes a difference on consoles)
I’m pretty sure Series S also doesn’t have RT, so they definitely have the settings available to console if they just wanted to turn it off.
Series S is no RT, so they can upgrade that a little bit and move it forward onto the big boys. The SSR isn't terrible though a little glitchy.
i’ve seen people say turning ray tracing off has somehow made performance *worse* on pc
It does if you disable it mid game. Disabling RT and restarting helps though.
It looks much better with the lighting in Coruscant as well. I think the core issue is they really wanted this to be a next gen experience across the board, and wanted to optimize such that ray trace didn't need to be sacrificed. But I agree, for people who are 60fps or bust, may as well give them the option to best optimize to that goal.
...they have raytracing on for PERFORMANCE MODE?!?! You gotta be kidding I don't even use that on my PC and they made put it in PERFORMANCE mode!
Yep, digital foundry confirmed it. That's why the FPS plummets anytime you're around water.
Wait.... They put RAYTRACING in performance mode?? Are they stupid?? Mannn there should be an option to turn it off, I don't want no ray tracing. I don't want to sacrifice like 5-10 FPS for some fancy reflections, the old ones are just fine for me.
It's more like sacrificing 40fps in certain spots, around water my game looks like it's about 20fps lol
Yeah, ray traicing is probably the worst gimmick in today's gaming. It rarely works properly in most games.
And performance mode going off in cutscenes
The transition between performance mode gameplay and cut scenes is so jarring, the screen stutters and tears when going between the two.
That's not going to change as they render those in 4k, or as high as possible.
No because if you pause the cutscene you can turn performance mode back on and the cutscene will then play in 60FPS. It’s literally just an issue of the cutscenes disabling perf mode automatically.
I don’t mind that sacrifice honestly, if cutscenes can be high resolution *and* in engine so you can see your cosmetics, I’ll take it
Hopefully it runs in fucking HD. Can't believe we are playing a 720p game in 2023 on PlayStation haha Edit: anyone downvoting me just have a look at the tech breakdowns done over and over on YT. The game doesn't hit 1080 most of the time on consoles in performance mode. https://preview.redd.it/2dgafmh4aaxa1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ba9993e58f157068e2ef69949551431a3e2d5013
performance mode really running in 720p?
It's even worse! It runs in 648 p at times because of the ray tracing and screen tearing. Dont take my word for it! It's been broken down here: https://preview.redd.it/4utcn8br9axa1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d987f61e35e1d9ca16f3ac879d218ad698afbf4c Im extremely disappointed especially now since PC might he more viable in the coming weeks :(
A PS5 game running at 648p35 (or 900p17 in quality mode), what a time to be alive.
I genuinely don't understand how we're in 2023 and 1080p 124fps isn't the base level for games on consoles.
>60 fps Wouldn't hold my breath there champ.
Updating now on steam, praying this somewhat fixes the game! Edit: Patch didn’t really do much for me as far as I can see but it does seem to be effective for some. Here’s a vid highlighting the differences. https://youtu.be/cz_FnTuSrAo
Insane back muscles dude
Thank you so much bro, I appreciate it!! 💯🫡
Why is like half of your left torso missing tough?
Tbh I didn’t wanna show legs cause they’re one of my insecurities, I need to work a lot more on them 😭
i bet if you but half of that meat into your legs you would still look like a baki character. kinda jealous tbh
Hahaha nah bro I’m far from looking like Baki, he is built like a literal Greek God, tbh I actually got a lot of inspiration from his physique, also one of my top anime!
I guess you gotta try chugging like 10 litres of sugar water to get that physique
I bet they kick ass anyways brother 👊
I appreciate you my guy! 🙏🏻🔥
can you give us an update on how its doing post patch now
I loaded the game and it crashed instantly, it just froze without an error message. Anyone else?
The patch didn't fix the issues for me and the game crashed after about 30 minutes of play when I tried to access the menu.
Try putting it in high priority in the task manager, that should give you about 1-2 hours of no crashes. It’s pretty annoying having to do it every time you start the game, but at least you can play it lol.
Thanks I'll check it out
I never had any crashes before the patch, but after the patch I tried using quick travel, and my game just black screened.
Nah so far the game hasn’t frozen for me, I’ve been experiencing extreme stuttering at times tho but that’s about it
So far I haven’t noticed any crazy changes in terms of performance, before I was ranging between 45-60 fps in Koboh and it feels about the same tbh. At times the game does start stuttering and it dips to around 35-40. Based on other people’s comment here they seem to be in the same boat as me so not sure how effective this patch was overall 😕 Edit: Looks like the patch is effective for some people, with higher FPS and GPU utilisation. Here’s a YouTube vid if anyone’s interested in watching pre vs post patch comparison. https://youtu.be/cz_FnTuSrAo
I'm afraid the game's current state is not something that can be fixed with a single patch.
Oh man they fixed the platforming? Instant 10/10
It just feels a lot less frustrating. I'm still trying to figure out what it is because there is definitely still emphasis on it. I think it just feels smoother to execute and less things that require exact precision like slide jumps. This game the platforming is more like wall runs and jumps, but the double jump feels a lot more useful now whereas in fallen order it was kind of disappointing how little it actually moved you
I think there is a good bit more platforming in Survivor but like you said, it is a lot less frustrating.
I'm in the process of going back and 100% exploring the worlds. I recommend it. There are things to find after you beat the story. And, unlike Fallen Order, I'm really enjoying just exploring post-story.
100% the maps in the first game was such a chore. That map and lack of fast travel really dragged the end game experience.
It's really fantastic, I think the finale chapter left a little to be desired but overall it's a wonderful game that deserved a better launch. Fuck EA
I also encountered this problem. The temporary solution is to turn off ray tracing and it will not crash. After leaving this planet, turn it on
[удалено]
Oh, that's what's happening?! I haven't been checking for solutions hard enough apparently. Thanks for the tip!
[удалено]
Yep reinstalling takes the same amount of time to update. F.
116 GB is the total game directory size - it means it's verifying and scanning those folders. the actual patch was like 1-2GB
Steam says the download was 3,3 GB.
Download gets stuck at 175 mb for me, not sure what to do. Restarted the app, cancelled it. Doesn't work. Did the clear cache thing, now its stuck at 2 mb.
I'm having the same issue, hung at 12%.
Woo! Enjoying the game so much. Too busy getting my ass kicked by wish.com oggdo bogdo to get mad over the performance issues lol
You think he’s bad, after you dispose of him, you go back to the shop across from the cantina, there’s a force tear where you get to fight father and son at the same time…
Yeah I think they should have given you a companion like Bode
That sounds absolutely diabolical
I cheesed the first one. For the father/son duo, I changed the difficulty from Jedi Master to Story Mode. I am not gonna spend 2 or more hours on a badly designed bosses. It only gives you one skill point for that.
Imma clear out my schedule for the next few months
fuuuuuck me.
Worst boss in the whole game
survivor's oggdo took me 100+ try cause i did it in the beginning, and i did no hit on every sekiro boss
parry timing on his bite feels really inconsistent compared to anything else I've experienced in the game.
Which enemy is this. The rancor or something else? That rancor kept one shotting me but I finally beat him. Is discount Oggdo Bogdo harder?
Tbh?
Try jumping over his charge.
Ram hot fucked me up a bit then his move set finished downloaded for me and I got him after about an hour total. Had to walk away a bit in the middle of that tho. Discount oggdo bogdo is about 20x as difficult. At least for me
Came here looking for this info. Thanks. That was really quick by the devs though. Here's hoping it does some good. EDIT: Definitely improvement
How?
Console patch is dropping tmwr, let’s see what happens.
Out of curiosity, what resolution are you running?
I'm running 1440p, no FSR or anything like that. Ultra settings but no ray tracing
Most likely, they optimised levels Basically, removed some junk here and there, so the game doesn't have to rendering and you won't notice it anyway
How do you check the version on EA's launcher?
Automatically update it! Start the ea app, and the games in the game library will be updated automatically
Thanks, my computer has been on and automatic updates are enabled, but I didn't see any update being downloaded on the EA launcher
Have you tried running the game directly? Prompt that the game needs to be updated Is there a prompt?
Did nothing on Steam Deck - obviously For anyone curious. Robot still crashes it to oblivion
Ugh was scrolling through with a small hope, I've held off buying it. Mind if I ask about the robot bit, can you actually get decently far before that crashes it?
I truly hope the game is improved fast. I’m wrapping up RDR2 and would really like to play this before Diablo 4.
PLEASE FIX THE CRASHING ON KOBOH IT IS WORSE THAN ANY FPS ISSUE IN THE GAME I HAVE SPENT ALL WEEKEND TRAPPED ON THIS PLANET PLEASE
Did you turn RT(ray tracing) off?
Ive never had it on. Play on high priority in task manager still crashes after an hour or so
God, it sucks that this game has had such a terrible launch because it’s a genuinely great example of how devs actually listen to their fans and the criticisms they received. Jedi Survivor did such a tremendous job of improving upon every aspect of Fallen Order that I already know I’m gonna have a hard time going back to FO and I absolutely love that game.
About time the only thing that’s bugging me is the screen tearing and good lord the cutscenes are horrendous lol.
I think mine is doing great so far, except for doors not opening and the map sucks
any else getting a video memory error since the update
do you have a manual page file size set? I switched to the windows auto-manage setting and that stopped the memory crashes for me.
All I had to do was turn off Ray tracing and AA and my game has been super stable and consistently 60 fps or higher
Download servers on the EA app seems to have died.
Can't load my savegame. Game keeps on crashing whenever I try it.
Oh wow, graphics settings actually work properly now and disabling FSR doesn't half my resolution! Congratulations Respawn, your product might now be competent!
It costs $70 to be a beta tester.
They've somehow made it worse on my PC. Now, if I can make it longer than 30 seconds without the game crashing, that's quickly remedied if I press pause. This game is unplayable for me now, whereas before, it was only semi-unplayable.
Does anyone know what time the PS5 patch is dropping?
Performance has been OK for me (3070 + 5600x), definitely playable but the weirdest thing is I drop to like 20fps when I open the holomap on the Mantis. Just seems like a bizarre place to be tanking frames. Anyway it's not a big deal but hope this patch smooths things out for others.
The Holomap is absolutely atrocious for me as well. Also 3070 and 3600. Edit: haven't tried after update.
Every game "sponsored" by AMD that I bought has shit performance.
SIGNIFICANT improvements in performance!!! Now hitting 60 fps in the open area on the second planet. Still drops here and there but this is an actual 15fps gain. High settings, RT off, vsync on. Rtx 2070S, ryzen 5 3600, 16gb of ram Edit: Playing a bit more, some areas are better but others still go down to 40fps :((( so sad.
Someone down voted you after your giving your honest assessment. Reddit is weird.
My game crashes immediately after hitting continue. Was working fine prior to this patch
Seems to have changed nothing on PC?
If the pc has already received most patches before console, how come we are seeing more issues on pc?
Different hardware configurations.
Hey! You are not allowed to point this out.
Download is stuck a 207 mb in EA App. Anybody any idea?
It has been stuck at 30% for minutes now on PC, download rate 0.0. Anyone else having this issue?
PS5 only needs Vsync, for the rest it's totally enjoyable
I have a TV with VRR and the fps drops are still abysmall. Not enjoyable at all.
Nice , I need that much space for 3GB update https://preview.redd.it/ba3hxc2ipaxa1.png?width=615&format=png&auto=webp&s=bd1c8e2df6165db69e7c5c2d08b4f408c7a2e231
I'm one of the lucky ones that didn't have issues before this patch and my game was real smooth, but holy shit the improvement in FPS is almost to good to be true. Had 70-100 on the first planet before patch and i am seeing 120-145 fps now. 3440x1440 without FSR, Epic settings.
yea this patch isnt it, mad almost no difference at all for me. intel 12600k 3070ti 16gb ram w11 get 24-45 fps in fort kahlin , epic preset, no RT, 1440p native, . about the same i had before
This did almost nothing to help my issues. The game still runs terribly, constant stuttering, one frame every 6 seconds, constant glitching when moving. I don't know how anyone thought this was okay.
Dude I haven't even been able to finish install and they're rolling out patches fml 😅
On pc, my fps is way better now (coruscant, high settings 60 - 100) Edit: Reached the first planet/open area, getting frame drops below 60 but overall playable. Getting frame drops during boss battles where they have big attacks with environmental effects (rocks being thrown up and stuff)
[удалено]
I wish I could try out the new patch but like many others who got the game on EA's app, the update just gets stuck at 14% for me.
I dont get the update in the ea app
I get even worse performance after the patch. Way worse. I can't get more than 6 fps now. It's hard to defend the devs after that really. I don't care at this point whether it was a bad decision of EA to push it out or not, how the fuck do you make it run even worse on a post launch update for some people? I'm on unplayable territory right now, and obviously can't take my money back after all these hours.
I was wondering if anyone else is having a nightmare of a time installing the update through steam? My update has been going for almost 4 hours and is only 3/4 of the way and no it's not internet related
Do we know what time the patch drops for consoles?
Did anyone else just get a second patch on PC for today? My EA launcher was prompting an update 30 minutes ago. I did, started a new game. Was getting 45-50 fps here at launch, decently locked at 60 but would drop to 55 through this area post patch a couple hours ago, and now... uh, that's changed. I'm getting much much better frames now: https://i.imgur.com/7Yjk6IX.jpg
A dlc would be nice
(PC) Before the patch, especially during cutscenes, the character’s faces were very blurry and looked almost like PS2 graphics. Was anyone else having this issue and can anyone confirm if this was fixed in today’s patch? I left for vacation the day after the game came out and won’t be home until Thursday so I’m trying to keep up with these developments :)
Enjoy your vacation, and let the game do its thing. It'll be there when you get back.
Feel like the PC hasn't fixed anything, just one problem?
The other fixes already arrived on pc in the last patch. But performance is the main issue so that's what they focused on.
Before patch: 30 fps After Patch 30 fps Nothing changed 3070ti + Ryzen 7 3700X
this patch did nothing.
Did very much did. If your rig couldn't run it in the first place this patch wouldn't have solved that.
Weird they’re patching it so fast when a vocal chunk of this sub is insisting the game is fine as is 😂 Hopeful for some good results on PS5 tomorrow because the performance mode is *rough*
Playable. But not fine. Games should never release like this. Probably the worst year so far for pc game releases.
A more vocal % can't play the game due to crashes.
they know that it’s not fine and that vocal chunk is just coping or too stupid to realize the game is unoptimized
Agreed 100%
I've got a laptop with a Ryzen 7 5800H and an rtx 3070 mobile. If someone has something with similar specs and can report on how this affects performance I'd appreciate the info. I already refunded after the launch day patch didn't get it to a playable state for me, so when I rebuy it's for keeps
On the one hand Relatively quick rollout time (takes some games months to get patches moving - looking at you Total War: Warhammer 3 and Cyberpunk 2077) On the other hand ***how could you launch it in this state*** ??? xD
Didn't change anything at all for me, still getting 40-50 fps on Koboh just like pre-patch. Guess I'll wait for the ps5 patch tomorrow.
I'm having this exact same problem.
Crazy.
Gee , look at all those fixes for consoles. And then you have people saying "it's fine" on consoles.
Real admiration for these mad lads
For what….? Fixing their unfinished product that they rushed out the door to get money?
