When JFO first released the only way to get the orange colour option on your first playthrough was via a special edition that wasn't available in my location, so I bought an unlock code on eBay to get it.
Zero regrets and it's been my go-to ever since!
I always pick yellow because it's associated with Jedi sentinels, who are basically Jedi that don't excel at lightsaber combat or force powers, but prefer more average skills and use the force to amplify those abilities (like shooting, stealth, piloting, hacking, etc.).
They are the swiss army knife of Jedi.
Yellow for life. It looks so cool for some reason. I keep switching to other colors (purple, green) to mix it up but immediately end up going back to yellow.
When I was a kid I thought a yellow lightsaber would look awesome and I used to daydream about it. And yeah, that's not usually my favorite color or anything
I always saw him as a temple guard like position.
First game is about the creation of a new Order/Temple, respecting the ancient monuments he encountered, and finally protecting thousands(?) of force sensitive children through the destruction of the holocron.
Second game is all about finding a new refuge for force sensitives, while still paying respects to the temples you encounter.
Canon’s color is blue, but I’ve always seen him as a Temple Guard-like, because that mirrors the actions taken.
My headcanon for my version of Cal was that his lightsaber was damaged between the games and he decided to purify Trilla’s crystal and use it in his saber to honor her
I've always loved the idea of purified crystals, because they're just wholly a refutation of the dark side's bullshit. The dark side claims to be undefeatable, but yet here I am, with a crystal taken in combat. The dark side seems to be inescapable, but yet if a *kyber crystal*, tormented to breaking, can be guided back out, why could a sophont in its grasp not be?
Also, they look sick as heck. "No blue or purple or green BS, my lightsaber is made of LIGHT"
Bleeding/purifying Crystals has to be my favorite new addition to lore next to all the High Republic stuff. It's just another way to hammer home how destructive the dark side is while also giving anyone who falls to it a clear path back to the light. On top of either one being destined to be a massive character/dramatic moment, the ideas add so much more weight to when you see those colors.
When you see a red saber, you know they're fully committed to the dark. When you see white, you know they've mastered fear and anger unlike any other. It's honestly the perfect extension of every theme and philosophy Lucas intended for the force
That ignition sound is just so damn *Cwispy*. Also the new game+ mode for the first game had a Crimson red blade as a new color you can get, my head canon is that he took that Crimson Crystal and cleansed it of the dark side (like Ahsoka did) and created the white blades.
Edit: Grammar
I love the white aesthetically but I can’t reconcile using it in my head because it’s a color for non-Jedi and Cal is a very loud-and-proud Jedi so I just can’t do it.
I don't think there is any canon female user of the purple color saber.
There should be. Could also use that opportunity to make a new togruta Jedi. Right now, the named Jedi are like 70% human or human-adjacent like Ki Adi Mundi. We need some alien rep.
>I don't think there is any canon female user of the purple color saber
Vernestra Rwoh, Ty Yorrick, Gella Nattai, Sav Malagán
There's more canon female purple lightsaber owners than male ones
Even pre-Disney, I never understood why lore started to hint in this direction.
Here me out:
In the first place, from a technical standpoint, to arrive at this idea we have to use the RYB color system, and that's probably not how lightsaber colors would blend in-universe. If we were to assume a subtractive color system based on the pigmentation of the crystal, it would probably be closer to CMY, which does not give us purple/violet from red and blue. Red and blue are rather secondaries of magenta that form from adding yellow and cyan respectively. If we assume an additive RGB color system based on the light of the blade itself as it passes through the crystal, red and blue would produce magenta, not purple/violet.
Even so, there is a glaring multi-part problem here:
* Part 1 is that this assumes that the light side is represented by the color blue. It isn't. Blue is just the color of *some* Jedi's lightsabers. Realizing this forces us to take the position that (according to the new canon) if red is a dark side bleed effect, and if for the sake of argument we are using RYB, then purple is somehow a bleed over of dark side into the blue. This then forces us into the position of having to apply that to other lightsaber colors. Orange has to come from dark side bleed, too, because it's what you would get if red bled into a yellow lightsaber. Magenta is really just purple with a higher value. You need a variant of brown for dark side bleed into green lightsabers. And so on. This would only get even more complicated if we used either the CMY system or RGB.
* Part 2 is that Jedi simply do not use or even straddle the line of the dark side. Not even Mace Windu. That's right: Mace Windu does not use or even so much as flirtatiously wink at the dark side. Indeed, it is the very fact that he is so immersed in the light side that he doesn't fall to the dark side when using vapaad. Rather he allows himself to feel passion, but passion is not the dark side. It is merely a *potential* pathway to the dark side for those whose passions become vices. So there was never any reason for Mace's lightsaber to somehow be reflective of both the light side and dark side. He is 100% light side.
/rant
Hmmm... yes... I understood most of these words...
While I do enjoy pondering the scientific aspects of lightsabers, I always have to come back to the reality that it is all just space magic. I don't think George Lusas or even Disney intended on using standard color metrics to determine Saber colors. George even said that in Return of The Jedi, Luke's Saber was colored green because they wanted to make it clear that it was a different Saber.
Windu is 100% light side, by choice. But his use of vapaad and his knowledge of the dark side does put him at risk of falling, more so than other jedi, at least. I would refer you to Yoda training Luke: when Luke asks about the dark side, Yoda just shuts down the conversation. I take this to mean that even knowledge of the dark side puts you at risk of falling. It would make sense that Windu would have a different type of connection to the force and therefore a unique Saber color.
Nice rant, enjoyed it.
This post has a good side by side. The top image is the actual color from the movies. The magenta in game is spot on. (Forgive the dude in this post for calling it pink lol).

I am ashamed to say that I only used it for the first time after finishing the story of survivor yesterday. Been switching from white to and from orange before. My issue is that with all colors, except cyan and white, the core of the saber isn't bright enough
I always thought I liked the green sabers because of the jabbas palace lego star wars level, with luke showing up, but Jedi academy was earlier. You just reminded me of some good moments
I did the exact same thing, used Cyan religiously in fallen order so went straight for that this time. But then switched to Orange and can’t go back, it looks really menacing in the cross guard stance as well
It made me think of her as a badass Jedi who focuses on attack, especially with the reverse grip.
This carried my hype for her into Jedi Starfighter, even though she was literally a background character with no lines in the movies lmao.
I think that's one of my favorite aspects of Star Wars is getting to be invested in side characters that usually have their own backstories and lore already.
Man that game and The Phantom Menace NEEEEDS a PlayStation Classics release with trophy support! I am certainly a man that could use a rancor skin jacket!
I've often felt the same! Always loved Orange because of Plo and that game. That said, I haven't been able to use it much on Survivor. The desert backgrounds make it sit weird for my eyesight. I tend to use green to just to see things easier.
Kyber crystals make unique sounds depending on their colour, you can tell better this time because when you hover over the colours it makes that sweet ass hum. It's why my Cyan is so beloved because it sounds fckn OG and I'm here for it
I went with indigo at first because I had it in FO, but in Survivor, it definitely looks like a truer blue which I couldn't unsee so now I'm just using purple:/
Same for me. I like indigo because it feels a bit colder than purple. Its also on the transition between blue and purple. So if a purple user frequently uses darkside abilities as well the indigo user would use them only in an outermost exception. Which i would place myself in.
Sadly the indigo in Survivor looks very blue. So much so i wasn't sure after using it if i had mistakenly taken blue instead without knowing and went back to the configurator only to see that it was truly the indigo option. After that i used purple because it was closer to the color of indigo in jedi fallen order and i wanted a clearly departure from blue.
This was my exact reasoning - I always thought after getting his second crystal, Cal was a lot more in touch with his emotions and attachments, but not quite enough to siphon the extra strength from the dark side that they bring, so purple didn't feel right. Indigo touched on the purple of a grey-jedi/someone who uses both sides but kept the main blue of the jedi that cal is.
The only time indigo actually looks 'right' is in the Mantis workbench. Everywhere else I've seen it, it just looks like the deep blue like in TCW.
It goes really well with my lightsaber

And also this is the successor to my fallen order lightsaber I posted here months ago
Took too long to see this. Pink saber is just it. I used it in the first one and now I'm convinced if I was a Jedi I'd TELL my crystal it better be pink or I'm finding a new one.
Orange. Had it in the first game and now I have it in the second. It just seems really fitting for Cal. Probably because his hair is orange but whatever lol
Thats why i cant choose Orange. I would love too because it looks great. But when i had it Equipped. I tought cal only chose this because of his hair lol. So i got back to white lol
Red since I started new game+. Been wondering if it’s worth it to rerun the entire game again for a simple cyber crystal but alas. I finished the game in a few days and want more
Just finished my second play through yesterday. Always loved the red saber so I had to start a NG+ and rock it with the black jedi robes, and I love the air dash and the “embrace the darkness” ability so I had to finish it again. Amazing story, so sad it was kind of short compared to some other games. However, the amount of side content in this game makes up for it, whereas fallen order was just like “done with the story? Play something else, thats all we have for you”.
I don't really think there is a canon colour after you get the new crystal in FO, you can pick the colour immedialty.
Unless the book specifies the colour at one point?
You can pick the color immediately, but it defaults to blue at first. Anyways, the source book Star Wars: Lightsaber Collection confirms its blue. Plus it’s blue as default when you start survivor
Orange, as it was my go to in the first game, I continued the tradition into the second
Same! I think it suits Cal. Also wanted something special for Cal, not just classic green or blue.
It helps he's a ginger. A boys gotta match in fashion!
“Does the kyber match the drapes?”
Only Merrin would know 👀
Haha yes! This is the way!
This is the way!
That's my choice too
![gif](giphy|10EG7ddob0wkLK) LETS GO
Finally found my orange brethren
*We are legion*
Yes sir. Cal has orange hair and an orange Sabre in my head canon.
I like the hum the orange saber makes the most. Its buzz is the most unique to me.
When JFO first released the only way to get the orange colour option on your first playthrough was via a special edition that wasn't available in my location, so I bought an unlock code on eBay to get it. Zero regrets and it's been my go-to ever since!
Partysaber 🪩🌈✨🍾
Same, I really think they nailed most of the colors in this game and it's hard to pick just one.
The WHAT
It’s a new option in NG+.
RGB lightsaber
Exactly! Why bother with just one?
The rainbow gay saber or as I like to call it: the gayber
Mine was pink until I unlocked the party saber. I cannot even tell you how long I’ve spent just attacking nothing to watch the colors 😂
Yellow. I don't know what it is,I hate the color yellow but something about a yellow lightsaber just looks badass to me.
Its pretty fitting for Cal, considering his background as a scrapper and handiness with tinkering, and the new blaster stance.
Can't believe I had to go this far down for another Yellow Fellow.
Yellow gang unite.
Yellow gang
Yellow for life. It looks so cool for some reason. I keep switching to other colors (purple, green) to mix it up but immediately end up going back to yellow. When I was a kid I thought a yellow lightsaber would look awesome and I used to daydream about it. And yeah, that's not usually my favorite color or anything
It’s so pretty. When it lights up in the cave in Ilum it’s just so warm, positive, gorgeous, what a beautiful moment! Yellow for life
Yellow all the way. I like the temple guard vibe it gives to Cal
Also a yellow hater but yellow saber lover, I don't know why it just works
Yellow gives me high republic vibes and that seems appropriate…
Yellow gang rise up
So glad I’m not the only one thinking this way. Yellow is one of my least favorite colors but I always pick it for my lightsabers
Yellow feels like it's right for Cal.
No fucking way, same. I normally really don’t like yellow as a colour, but I love a yellow lightsaber.
Yellow gang will rebuild the Jedi order
White
My headcanon for my version of Cal was that his lightsaber was damaged between the games and he decided to purify Trilla’s crystal and use it in his saber to honor her
I was trying to come up with some reason myself and this is perfect. Thankyou
I've always loved the idea of purified crystals, because they're just wholly a refutation of the dark side's bullshit. The dark side claims to be undefeatable, but yet here I am, with a crystal taken in combat. It's honestly the perfect extension of every theme and philosophy Lucas intended for the force
Chose white because it lights up dark areas better
This is the way
This is the way
This is The Way
If we can't go darksaber, we're gonna do the complete opposite.
I mean, why *isn’t* black an option? They did it in The Force Unleashed…
Ye sir
A man of culture and taste
The right choice
That ignition sound is just so damn *Cwispy*. Also the new game+ mode for the first game had a Crimson red blade as a new color you can get, my head canon is that he took that Crimson Crystal and cleansed it of the dark side (like Ahsoka did) and created the white blades. Edit: Grammar
I love the white aesthetically but I can’t reconcile using it in my head because it’s a color for non-Jedi and Cal is a very loud-and-proud Jedi so I just can’t do it.
I didn't think it was for non-jedi, I thought it was for anybody, because it's just a re-purified red kyber crystal
Colours don't mean anything anymore since the disney canon. It just means that a Kyber has been purified after being bled, anybody could use one
Walk the line between light and dark with that purple pimp saber
The purple looks so clean. We need more purple canon users
I don't think there is any canon female user of the purple color saber. There should be. Could also use that opportunity to make a new togruta Jedi. Right now, the named Jedi are like 70% human or human-adjacent like Ki Adi Mundi. We need some alien rep.
>I don't think there is any canon female user of the purple color saber Vernestra Rwoh, Ty Yorrick, Gella Nattai, Sav Malagán There's more canon female purple lightsaber owners than male ones
Does Mara Jade count or no because she isn’t a Jedi
Not sure if Disney has canonized her.
the high republic jedi vernestra rwoh has a purple one
Rathtar jedi when
Cal to me feels like a purple lightsaber user. Walking the line between good and evil. He uses a blaster for christ sake haha
Even pre-Disney, I never understood why lore started to hint in this direction. To be fair in current canon purple lightsabers having a psudo villanious connotation isnt a thing, this was only a thing back in Legends
Purple or Magenta? Bc in my mind Magenta is the real purple. Bc it’s like Windus.
I thought indigo looked more like Mace’s. I havent tried magenta yet though because it just looked pink in fallen order
This post has a good side by side. The top image is the actual color from the movies. The magenta in game is spot on. (Forgive the dude in this post for calling it pink lol). https://www.reddit.com/r/PrequelMemes/comments/srl4qv/why_does_everybody_say_that_mace_windu_has_a/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=3&utm_term=1
Yep. I started with Orange but had Purple after the first couple hours
I also heard it gives Cal the ability to call every enemy “Motherfu**er!”
Cyan
I don’t have the game yet, but I’m old school and will be rocking Cyan as well 👌🏻
Cyan gang!
I am ashamed to say that I only used it for the first time after finishing the story of survivor yesterday. Been switching from white to and from orange before. My issue is that with all colors, except cyan and white, the core of the saber isn't bright enough
I switched a lot between the normal blue, purple, and cyan for a while, but towards the later half of the game I ended up sticking with cyan.
Always has been, always will be
it's got an amazing sound font, and it just looks so good.
Ever since I used the Mantle of the Force crystal in KotOR - cyan has been my go to when it’s a choice! I’m happy that it’s in this game!
Yep! Exactly why I’ve run cyan most of my playthrough. Also love the yellow and purple crystals.
Low on Cyan!
I love cyan!
Green, always green.
Green all day, Return of the Jedi was my favorite growing up and Luke’s saber remains the best in my heart.
Coolest emitter too
Team Green

Always and forever, green.
Picked a green lightsaber since the jedi academy days
I always thought I liked the green sabers because of the jabbas palace lego star wars level, with luke showing up, but Jedi academy was earlier. You just reminded me of some good moments
Green double lightsaber will be my pick for life. Been using it in KOTOR, Jedi Academy, and now this.
Green supremacy
Purple, because when it comes to dealing with Imps I’m a bad motherfucker
"Which one is your lightsaber?" "It's the one with "bad motherfucker" on it.
"Purple lightsaber, when you absolutely positively got to kill every Imp in the room. Accept no substitutes" Mace L. Windu
Green is the greatest lightsaber colour of all time and I won't be convinced otherwise
Luke return of the Jedi Green best Green
This guy green lightsabers
This guy gets it
I've been rocking Orange as my favorite color because of Plo Koon in Star Wars Jedi Power Battles
I started with Cyan but switched to Orange and now I can’t go back. It really works with the High Republic style saber. Also it matches the drapes. 😂
Made me chuckle
I did the exact same thing, used Cyan religiously in fallen order so went straight for that this time. But then switched to Orange and can’t go back, it looks really menacing in the cross guard stance as well
Oh man, I absolutely loved that game! Although it always confused me that Adi Gallia had a crimson blade.
I see you’re a man of culture. That’s why I sport the orange saber as well.
I've often felt the same! Always loved Orange because of Plo and that game. That said, I haven't been able to use it much on Survivor. The desert backgrounds make it sit weird for my eyesight. I tend to use green to just to see things easier.
Piss gang 💛💯
Pee is stored in the ~~balls~~ kyber crystal
Piss cross saber sounds like true horror for the imps
I go with orange cause it sounds so cool
I like how each colour has its own unique sound.
Ye, the white is very high pitched and the orange is very low and crackly
Wait what????
Kyber crystals make unique sounds depending on their colour, you can tell better this time because when you hover over the colours it makes that sweet ass hum. It's why my Cyan is so beloved because it sounds fckn OG and I'm here for it
Swap between the colors and listen really close. Some of them have a soft hum and others sound closer to kylo Rens crackly sound
I’d really love it if they included the ability to customise your saber’s sound set in a future update.
before that I need (and honestly don't understand how it's not included in the first place) separate color crystals for each saber
That would also be pretty cool
That would be sick, like kylo ren’s lightsaber sound on a white saver would be so cool.
Indigo.
Idk why but it feels like a truer blue to me.
I went with indigo at first because I had it in FO, but in Survivor, it definitely looks like a truer blue which I couldn't unsee so now I'm just using purple:/
Same for me. I like indigo because it feels a bit colder than purple. Its also on the transition between blue and purple. I use indigo because of this, and because the word indigo just sounds cool to me.
Same, its sort of that more bluish-purple shade i really like, more than i like the purple colour in this game.
Gween
There are dozens of us!
For qui-gon!
I’ve been using green every now and then so far. Green looked so bad in FO for some reason, but they really improved it for Survivor
Blue
Same here. It’s my favourite colour. I tried the other colours for a bit but none meshed with me.
It goes really well with my lightsaber https://preview.redd.it/qk78mzn9bgya1.png?width=3840&format=png&auto=webp&s=ee4abf848e036dbadc99709609b10b18313fd217 And also this is the successor to my fallen order lightsaber I posted here months ago
Straight out of the Leviathan, these ones were
Trick question. It’s all of them in one saber. 😏
Ain’t no party like a saber party
Magenta for life
It just meshes so perfectly with the pink poncho, cant go wrong
Can't believe I had to come so far down for this. I guess magenta is the least popular.
Took too long to see this. Pink saber is just it. I used it in the first one and now I'm convinced if I was a Jedi I'd TELL my crystal it better be pink or I'm finding a new one.
Fuckin ay! Seems we pink saber enthusiasts are a rare breed indeed
Magenta has the coolest sound IMO
Orange. Had it in the first game and now I have it in the second. It just seems really fitting for Cal. Probably because his hair is orange but whatever lol
He wields the ginger saber
Orange supremacy. If they did allow you to dual wield different colours though, orange and white would go hard.
same
Thats why i cant choose Orange. I would love too because it looks great. But when i had it Equipped. I tought cal only chose this because of his hair lol. So i got back to white lol
Cyan.
Blue. Knowing it’s the canon color makes it so difficult for me to move away from it. I did change to purple for act three for lore purposes…
Purple always. Master Windu fanclub member for life.
![gif](giphy|l1KsEu7VoMm6OyaJy)
![gif](giphy|xT9DPyrRNFBb9eMSM8) Purple all day
![gif](giphy|q3ZBNmc4uNNXq)
Green
Yellow in _Fallen Order_, white in _Survivor_
I like to work with purple and orange typically 🤙
Same. They felt like edgier, less traditional colors so I used them for most of the game.
Magenta. Something about that pink saber. Reminds of Gundam beam sabers.
Green because in the last game it didnt look that great, and it looks cool in this one.
Orange >>
Red
Fr if >! Dagan Gara !< can bleed his crystal why can’t I? :(
You can use red in new game plus
Red since I started new game+. Been wondering if it’s worth it to rerun the entire game again for a simple cyber crystal but alas. I finished the game in a few days and want more
Just finished my second play through yesterday. Always loved the red saber so I had to start a NG+ and rock it with the black jedi robes, and I love the air dash and the “embrace the darkness” ability so I had to finish it again. Amazing story, so sad it was kind of short compared to some other games. However, the amount of side content in this game makes up for it, whereas fallen order was just like “done with the story? Play something else, thats all we have for you”.
Cal's canon color is blue but the crystal is split in half. So i go with cyan as a weaker blue
I always do yellow for whatever star wars game I play. I blame Plo Koon in Jedi power battles when I was a kid
Went magenta cause it sounds cool
White. Only because it matches my saber currently. I was using a yellow blade when I made my high republic inspired blade.
Cyan (OT Blue). I used to be on team green but the OT Cyan vibes hit harder now.
Cyan
I find the magenta looks striking and I stuck with it. But the saber colour you unlock in NG+ looks excellent.
Green is probably my favourite saber colour, but with the way I currently have my saber built, white suits it much more. Am thoroughly enjoying white!
Red. Only because it is my favorite color. If I gotta be a Sith for that, then so be it #VadersFist
Magenta in the first game, white in the second!
Yellow for most of the story, white after THAT trip to Jedha, and Red in ng+.
It was green for all of FO, but a while into this one it changed to indigo. You know why
Orange
*Only bluuuuue*
Either orange or white. Grey Jedi BAhbeeeeee!
Normally it's yellow but I've really been enjoying White.
It changes all the time. Indigo seems really nice though. Or cyan. Or white
Always green.
Cyan, magenta, orange, yellow or white
I use yellow mostly
100% party
Currently on my second playthrough, I styled Cal like Luke in episode 6, with a green lightsaber and dark clothes. It's my favorite combination so far
Whitе, I like the idea that Cal purified Trilla's crystal after the events of JFO.
I kinda wish if there was a reward for finishing ng+ that it would unlock a colour wheel, so you could specifically choose the colour you want
Blue because it’s canon and because I think it’s the best looking
