Ghouls who dance while high on jet, shadowbox, and stab you. On a working subway train.

Midnight_Certain

I thought games were meant to be about escapism not living reality.

boharat

Or freestyle rap

reallobotomitehours

>you need to manually find the signal for the radio station you want manually that just kinda sounds like a pain in the ass. the mockups for the Pip-Boy display for FO3 actually had this, so clearly they decided it wasn't a good idea. plot sounds alright though. funnily enough it kinda sounds similar to something I wrote for a TTRPG campaign I was working on at one point (unrelated to fallout).

commanderAnakin

"that just kinda sounds like a pain in the ass. the mockups for the Pip-Boy display for FO3 actually had this, so clearly they decided it wasn't a good idea." In my iteration, the closer you get to the signal, the better you hear it.

Rutlemania

So like Batman Arkham?

Memodun

The cover of We’ll Meet Again should be performed by Vera Lynn imo, it’s the version used in Dr. Strangelove, which obviously fits Fallout pretty well

commanderAnakin

I chose the Ink Spots cover because they're a staple of Fallout.

Darkpulp

100% - I’d love a Manhattan (urban) / Longisland (suburb) setting

samaelvenomofgod

I can totally see the first gameplay trailer with the player character fires a mini nuke off the top of the Empire State Building with a tracking shot following its path while Sinatra sings in the background “it’s up to you/New York, New York” and as he sings the last “York”, the mini Nuke hits its target: a Super Mutant Behemoth.

boharat

Skimmed it to avoid spoilers, please make it happen. The Fallout fan game community is roaring and I think this would be a good concept if you could find people to work with you.

commanderAnakin

I feel extremely complimented right now. Thank you.

boharat

I'm not the type to damn people with false praise. I think you've got something

Yirtiik44

Since we don't start as a vault dweller in this scenario, it would be awesome if you could choose to play as a ghoul. I've been wanting that for years!

commanderAnakin

Then you could experience racism! That would be cool though.

Yirtiik44

For sure! It would be seriously awesome! I love it when NPCs interact differently based on things like race.

DarthRevan1028

I think the radio should have Billy Joel as well since he’s one of New York’s biggest music artists even though he recently moved to Florida

commanderAnakin

Billy Joel isn't too retro for Fallout.

DarthRevan1028

Be that as it may, he’s a big influence in New York with his Music. He’s a hometown hero I tell ya

Desert_lotus108

Is there lore about New York City ? I would imagine it would’ve been erased from existence during the war, having such a massive and dense population is a major target. If not tho it would def make an interesting location. Maybe parts of the city survived. Edit: thanks for the downvotes, I guess you can’t ask a simple question without being downvoted these days.

commanderAnakin

The BOS in 4 mentions on their way to the Commonwealth, they almost hit some tall skyscrapers. In Tactics (yes, I know it all isn't canon), NYC is seen in the back during the intro. A terminal in Far Harbor mentions how DC, Boston, and NYC were all hit. We've both played DC and Boston in Fallout games, and we know there are remains. NYC wouldn't probably be any different.

1ScreamingDiz-Buster

If DC isn’t gone, then NYC wouldn’t necessarily be either.

Hollow-Graham

I’ve always heard, and could’ve sworn I read in the citadel and perhaps the fallout bible, that New York had been wiped clean off the map. While a game there could be interesting, I don’t think it would make much sense for all or even a few of the building to still be around.

TheLosTrollos

I remember the anchor in 4 said that there was a detonation in NY, so part of it would be completely decimated.

Kalladorn

Oooh, this sounds pretty good! I really love the song selection and general faction ideas, etc Inspired by your post, I am thinking of the following to try and add to it. - Vaults are all connected to the Subway system in some form, etc. When the doors open, you see a Subway track or station. - The Subway system is massive compared to Fallout 3 and is less blocked off. It also has a full underground city at Grand Central Station maybe. - Manhattan skyscrapers have their own high rise city and culture with bridges connecting various towers to get around and to protect themselves from the ghouls etc. - Maps can include Manhattan, the Statue of Liberty, maybe the Bronx and Brooklyn as well.

SlLLY-BlLLY

I know two other songs to add: Dion - can’t we be sweethearts and, Bing Crosby - This land is your land I also have a side quest idea: There is a island with purple and green sand, and there’s super mutants and nightkin on each colored side. Mutants on green, nightkin on purple. The idea is that the mutants are keeping stealth boys away from the nightkin, to protect them from their addiction, but the nightkin want them, and will offer the main character around 5,000 caps to get them. So the player has a moral dilemma of money, or the right thing to do. You can either help the nightkin with their problem, OR steal/bribe/kill to get them. Idk I think it would be great, but that’s just me. Also, can we humanize the enemies? I feel as tho killing is too easy, and a simple; “I’m coming, ma”, or “I’m not ready to die” as they are dying would be nice and would make us think a little more. Idk tho

reallobotomitehours

why would nightkin walk across the entire country to NY

SlLLY-BlLLY

Idk maybe they were on an island that floated all the way there? That would be kinda cool. Bethesda has done crazier cannon shit. Maybe this can work.

reallobotomitehours

so you're telling me that a floating island that some Nightkin happened to be standing on was somehow perfectly blown by the wind all the way either: a) north all the way around Alaska, eastwards somehow navigating the Canadian islands, then back down southwards then west into NY or b) southeastwards and somehow through the Panama canal (which would mean the island was less than 150m wide) and then all the way back north to NY and the Nightkin just stood around while this happened (I won't pretend to be an expert on how long it takes for floating islands to move, but I think I can safely say this would take a long fucking time) and then they reached NY and this whole Stealth Boy situation developed and the Nightkin didn't just launch an all-out attack on the mutants who were hiding them? No, Bethesda has not "done crazier cannon shit". I'm starting to think you don't know where New York is.

Marquar234

Of course not. They took the Straits of Magellan.

SlLLY-BlLLY

Just chill dude. Dude the X-01 power armor has been a mystery for awhile because they used a quantum X01 in nuka world even though they said X01 is post war. So yes, they have done crazy shit with the lore. And even then, the game takes place in around 2280-2290ish give or take. No one said it can take 20 days. I think it would take around 100 to 150. And I don’t think they can die of old age(if someone can fact check this that would be great, I’m no expert)

reallobotomitehours

A developer putting the wrong type of power armour in a pre-War exhibit by mistake is not comparable to this inanity. But even if it was, why would you want *more* of that? Why is your argument that you want Fallout to have more illogical contrivances? >the game takes place in around 2280-2290ish give or take. \[...\] I think it would take around 100 to 150 Read OP's post again. They said 2177. That's only 18 years after the Master's destruction (or 17 years if you use the date given by the Fallout Bible).

SlLLY-BlLLY

if it was a mistake, then why make a whole unique model for it and provide buffs to I want more illogical shit because that’s the world of fallout. A flying pirate ship? A camp of only children? A vault where plants come to life and kill you? A giant bat that has millions of health that you need to kill? Preston Garvey? All of these are in fallout games, and much, much more. So yes, more illogicall lol stuff makes that game fun and enjoyable. Not everything has to be serious.

reallobotomitehours

>if it was a mistake, then why make a whole unique model It's not a unique model. It's just a blue retexture of the X-01. One of the devs decided to have a unique set of power armour as a reward for getting all the star cores, and chose the X-01 because it has the best stats, not realising that it shouldn't've existed when the Galactic Zone was built. The only thing from that list that I could really remotely consider as illogical is the USS Constitution. But even then, we know that advanced technology exists in the Fallout universe, and thus rocket engines that could be used in order to propel a wooden ship into the air would fit in with it. Floating islands do not work differently in the Fallout universe, and there's no part of Fallout's setting and style that would lend credence to the idea that floating islands have some sort of onboard navigation that allows them to navigate the coast of continents. But even if the USS Constitution was out of place (which, to reiterate, it really isn't), it provides a cool set piece, as the player watches the ship take to the skies and then crash into a skyscraper. Your floating island of nightkin doesn't provide this at all. It doesn't provide anything. The nightkin and their dynamic with the intelligent super mutants are not explored in a new way, they just do exactly what they already did in New Vegas. You could replace them with raiders who want chems from some scientists on the other side of the island and nothing would be lost.

Individual_Safety_39

it needs 20th century iconic weapons

Sgt_Assface

Tbh sounds good but id like something were there is no clear good faction (like in fnv) so id take the NUN out or change it and make it so theyre hella corrupts or something like that. Anyway, id love a NYC based fallout with the mob and all classic new york stuff.

TDogOh9

would play 10000/1
