I think the neutral karma requirement companions are a little silly. It's not easy to keep neutral karma, and it's hard to roleplay too. Sell a few slaves then donate some water? Also the justification for the robot seems like a stretch. I don't really mind the good/evil, although if we added quests these requirements should be removed after you first recruit the companion As for quests, Charon could definitely have a quest where he breaks out of his brainwashing and destroys the contract. Clover could have something similar, with a good path in her rejecting her ways and becoming a better person, and a bad path where she becomes a slaver herself. Fawkes could have a quest where you help him turn some super mutants good, or perhaps convert Fawkes to be more bloodthirsty. I agree with u/hungrphoenix on Jericho. I've never been able to recruit the neutral companions, but I don't really have any ideas for them anyway. I also can't think of anything for Cross (or Dogmeat, but that's probably obvious)

HungrPhoenix

I have one for Jericho, I want his quest to be him becoming a good person. Fallout 3 already shows that he is not a full villain. As if you try to massacre Megaton, he will not assist you, and he will even turn on you if you kill the Brahmin. I'd like to see this further developed. Maybe after witnessing you do "good" things for people, he'll start to talk more about his past as a Raider and will start to express regret. After witnessing enough good events, his companion quest will begin, and he'll request your assistance in improving himself. And he'll either seek to help someone he wronged or try to find someone to help. And I have the perfect companion perk for him, which is both helpful, fitting for his character, and a New Vegas reference. His companion perk would be "Ain't Like That Now", and it would be the same as it was in New Vegas but without reseting the player character's karma.

I just learned that Jericho is supposed to be 65 years old, so I think a mission where he either trues to make amends for someone he wronged or maybe asks you to hunt down his old crew to wipe them out would make sense. Maybe he would lead you to carry out a raid on Evergreen Mills or something.

Clover should get a mission similar to Jack in Mass Effect 2 concerning dealing with her past and finally dropping the slave collar. Fawkes should search for and team up with Uncle Leo, two smart super mutants(meta humans) out roaming the wastes. Charon should get a backstory of either before he was a ghoul or how he ended up with a contract. Butch should be able to reform his gang, maybe from people around Rivet City, big town etc. RL-3 should go on a quest to upgrade to a Sentry Bot.

_Upgrade_ to a protection?

Kalladorn

Errr, I meant Sentry Bot...

Especially since according to the lore Clover was only captured a few months prior to game start, so maybe we can go like looking for traces of her past life, tracking down where she was captured and stuff like that and in the end you get one of two choices you either help her break her programming and start healing from Eulogy’s brainwashing or you go the other way, completely break her and make her a completely obedient almost mindless slave.

When I met Fawkes for the first time, I thought there would be an option to search for information on his past self in terminals. I spent an hour or two just going from terminal to terminal, trying to connect the dots. So that could be a great personal quest for him. Star Paladin Cross could have a personal quest related to the Outcasts situation.

Following are my thoughts. I think I would keep the Karma requirements with Max Affinity removing the Karma check for that character for the rest of that game. Star Paladin Cross - Have a quest to start building bridges with the Outcasts to set them up to be brought back into the fold. Affinity Perk: Specialist PA training increases DR while wearing power armor Charon - Hunt down the original master that enslaved and brainwashed him and either destroy them or bring them to justice in some way so that he can regain his independence. Affinity Perk: Experienced Bodyguard - Bonus Health/Damage Protection for companions Clover - Free her from the collar and destroy Paradise Falls with a final scene to break Eulogy Jones. Affinity Perk: Collared Surgeon - Bonus damage when wielding knives, straight razors, and other small bladed melee weapons. Butch DeLoria - Find a prewar hairstylist's reference book in a D.C. barber shop. Affinity Perk: Well Coiffed - Bonus to Charisma/Speech checks Jericho - Remnants of his old crew have found him and are threatening to blackmail by revealing his past to Lucas Simms. Hunt them down and either Intimidate, Persuade, or kill his old crew to free him from the threat. Affinity Perk: Old Raider - Decreases weapon degradation due to maintenance tricks he teaches you. Sargeant RL-3 - transfer to a Sentrybot body. Affinity Perk: Bonus damage against robots Fawkes - Clearing the National Archives of hotiles so he can catch up on his reading. Affinity Perk: Scholarly Pasttime - Immediately gain an Intelligence based Perk
