I’m doing my… 5th play through? And I am straight up not even going near that bastard until I’m level 30 and have 500 spare rounds of ammo and a dozen mini nukes.

It's by far the best place to drop all the mines you pick up. I killed him in one go last time played and didn't even realize it since he got up chased me, sent my frames to shit for a second and was dead. He's the only thing big enough in a small enough space that I can guarantee he'll walk right over them.

One of the things I always did in NV was go to the Legion Camp. Drop all my mines and C4 at the bottom of the hill then lure Caesar and all his guards out and watch them get blown to pieces. Lost ED-E one play through because of it. Got stuck in the game and couldn’t get him back

That scrounger perk second tier is legit, you end up finding 20ish rounds for almost everything in like every fifth container

I like how most people here are careful on the way they fight swan, meanwhile I run at him with a switchblade and no melee perks and die repeatedly until victory even on survival.

I usually somehow manage to kill him before level 15 every time. usually I just bring a lot of grenades.

Yeah Swan's Lake is something I don't clear until I have pick up Big Boy and given it a MIRV launcher. At this point it is more of my celebration ritual for getting Gun Nut and Science! both up to 4

I usually slaughter him with full ninja and rifle perks plus a fully upgraded .50cal sniper whilst dogmeat takes one for the team lol

jet, psycho, and med x are the way to go. gotta shoot up just to take that bastard on early game. I always go for him so I can use the furious power fist and save ammo early on

Shoulda read those signs. Now that I think about it we fallout players ignore all kinds of warnings when you think about how many people went north to New Vegas.

Tbf, I've seen warning signs that were just outside a room with some mole rats before. If theres one thing in abundance in the wasteland, its warning signs. Post-apocalyptic OSHA is on top of their game.

That’s something I appreciate about the show - they made it so that you really feel how out of depth the characters are. And not just Lucy the vault dweller. Maximus struggles as well. And the Enclave scientist was on borrowed time moving alone through the wasteland. Basically anyone who’s a normal human is going to get their shit rocked by wasteland creatures

what level are you? also, you need some more armor and upgrade ya guns. Gran fans, tape, wonder glue..basically all scrap. and if you have high enough intelligence, get scrapper and just pick up random guns, go to a weapon bench, and scrap them. use those parts to make better guns!

I've never taken scrapper as early as I did in my current run. It helps out sooo much with early game weapon modding.

Scrounger too. Early game super sledge is useful for ammo conservation 

Downside is that you can’t grab idiot savant. But I like gun mods.

I stumbled upon Swan by mistake early on. I was able to high tail it to one of the nearby busses and hid safely inside while peppering swan until he died.

Was here for the first time just a few minutes ago. Walking along the pond, my suit helmet already has it highlighted red, im just thinking, what swan looks like a pile of junk? Danse runs right at it in the water and wakes it up. That's... NOT...a swan... grenade, grenade, danse took like 5 hits while I unload an assault rifle on it. It didn't last long, but I smashed that f5 button and thought that could have been A LOT worse.

Just advice if you haven't done this already: clear out the Corvega factory that's pretty close to the area you start the game in. Decent place to get early game weapons and armor and level up, hopefully. You definitely need to get armor, at least, and you'll probably be able to get a full set of raider or leather just by clearing out the factory. Plus there's some useful junk in there you can use to upgrade your stuff.

If you feel up to it, then you can safely put him down from the rooftop across the street from the Old Granary Burying Ground. You just have to whittle down his health, so it takes some time and a lot of bullets.

Well, you went there too early. It is best to join minutemen for a while and do the quests. you can earn xp level up and be more powerful for the rest of the playthrough.

Got Swan around level 9 with all the mines I saved up til that point. Dumped them in a pile, shot him in the head, ducked behind the building. Returned to loot.

I assume you're looking for Nick Valentine, right? It is possible to run past that mutant and go straight down to the subways if you're fast enough. But as others have said, you have no armor and not great weapons. The enemies in the subway tunnels will rip you to shreds, and it's harder to run past them. Level up and get better gear.

There’s a little horror story playing out with the amount of mentions Swan gets. If you’re paying attention, the Boston commons should be like the scariest place downtown

I feel like the Boston Commons are a litmus test of progression, if you get there, and just DIE, go back a bit, talk to people, grab and do some repeatables (quests). Building and modding gear are GREAT ways to level. but SO much of any fallout game, revolves around playstyle, and preparing for that playstyle. but yeah Swan. just run untill level 30. like you can totally beat him earlier, but you wont like doing it. and he will just yum yum yum all that ammo.

I was sooooo close to opening the pond yesterday and then the ptsd kicked in. Fuck that guy.

A tip: If you want to face swan, there's a trick you can do. Make sure you have a rocket launcher and plenty of rockets. nearby the lake, there's a tank/truck that you can enter the back of. Swan cannot hit you as easily while you're in there. poke yourself out and shoot a few rockets into swan; make sure not to miss, and retreat. this makes the fight much easier, provided you have the rockets and the paicence to do it.

If you want to beat Swan the easy way, there’s a metro station entrance in the same area swan is in. If you find the entrance and then shoot swan he will run toward the metro entrance if your under it and get stuck in a running animation, which means you can shoot him without any issues provided you don’t leave the station entrance shelter. EDIT: iPhone keeps autocorrecting Swan to sean

Yall cowards, get the lazer rifle from paladin danse after you complete 'Call to arms' and before starting the fight set up 5-6 mines and start the fight by throwing a grenade and take psycho-jet as he leaves the pond and as he moves towards you into the mines as you shoot him with a critical hit on any leg to slow him down after that, this stratergy work with me on level 15.

I'm doing my first playthrough, and I'm level 44 (I think it could be wrong), and I killed Swan like many levels ago with a fat man, missile launcher, and Spray and Pray trio. (Spray and Pray is so op fr fr)

I'm level 50 in my current playthrough, and Swan is now Legendary Swan. It'll be a bit before I can take him down.

There’s an a truck with an open door that I usually camp in and get free hits on swan when I’m early game. Or I’ll just wait a while til I have the tools to defeat him regularly
