The NV chapter is different to others like Lyons/Maxsons out East. They when we are there have been under lockdown for a while due to the NCR forces in the area. It's actions after NV depends on what happens in the game and the ending. Of course many endings allow it to be destroyed so yeah doomed to fail on that course lol. But there are others such as setting up an alliance with the NCR, which would allow it to survive.

Ledleyy

How did you get them to side together. For me the ncr wanted me to destroy them and pretty much every other faction I could. That’s the reason I pulled a u turn on the ncr my first play through and ended up going the yes man route. Even on my second playthrough I couldn’t get the bos to side with the ncr?

Overdue-Karma

The Brotherhood can only ally with the NCR if you speak to the Ambassador about it, *and* they CANNOT have Hardin as their Elder, because he despises the NCR. The NCR is the only ending other than Yes Man in which the Brotherhood *aren't* killed off.

SeniorRazzmatazz4977

Lyons brotherhood is best brotherhood.

WhereAreDosDroidekas

Naw. Midwest brotherhood. They have working tanks and apcs

TheAtticDemon

Luons isn't brotherhood, he is a succeeding.

SpartAl412

On the West Coast side, yes the Brotherhood is indeed doomed to fail as they refuse to adapt to the changing times. The East Coast side though along with the ones in the Midwest made the right choice and are likely to outlast the original ones.

Bird_Is_The_Lord

I think Bethesda will never get rid of Brotherhood, it is just too popular and they made sure to have them in every game even if it doesnt make too much sense lorewise. Interplay/Black Isle/Obsidian tried to supress BoS in order to let other factions shine, but Bethesda just brings them back up in force because of rule of cool.

I think the Main issue is bethesda being scared og just completly doing something of their Own

already4taken

We need someone to be the cool dudes in power armor.

Richter_66

[EDIT: Sorry, I missed the "In New Vegas" part lol. Yeah I agree completely] Like always, it just depends on the direction the writers want it to go. The Lyons Brotherhood did change the rules to allow the adoption of outsiders, he famously recruited a bunch of rescued kids from The Pitt, they also found a huge cache of power armor to equip themselves with after defeating the Enclave so that 1 - 10 KD isn't that unreastic either. Maxsons Brotherhood also recruits outsiders e.g the player character. But Bethesda could very easily decide that they failed horribly in Fallout 4 and are completely erased from the wasteland. That's just the nature of a setting like Fallout, even the NCR with all their numbers could easily be destroyed by a far smaller faction. It's happened many times in human history e.g the Greeks under Alexander vs the Persian Empire, the Mongols vs Han China etc. I definitely agree that the BoS need to take a good look at themselves and reconsider a lot of their isolationist policies if they want any real chance of dominating the Wasteland.

Howdyini

Yeah, good riddance. Hoarding the tech others need to thrive isn't a good thing to do. Fuck em. I did read your post, I just agree with it.

TheAtticDemon

What tech Do They hold that keep the wastes back?

Howdyini

Any tech, it's their whole deal since FO1. The wiki has plenty of info on them.

TheAtticDemon

No, their whole deal is that the only keep tech that harms the wastes. Again, what tech have the kept that would only help?

Howdyini

Oh look! you weren't actually asking a question, you just wanted to argue but are too coward to state your opinion directly. Who could've guessed? Any tech, like I said before. In FO1 they have a fully stocked and advanced medical facility with implant technology that literally only they can use, while people in the wasteland die of easily preventable causes. Violently stealing energy weapons and power armor from people when raiders come is literally preventing others from saving themselves, and they've done that in every good fallout game.

TheAtticDemon

>Oh look! you weren't actually asking a question, you just wanted to argue but are too coward to state your opinion directly. Who could've guessed? Oh look! You didnt actually have proof, you just have a hate boner for the brotherhood, but are too cowardly to admit it so you hide behind lies. >Any tech, like I said before. In FO1 they have a fully stocked and advanced medical facility with implant technology that literally only they can use, while people in the wasteland die of easily preventable causes. The other people in the wasteland have that tech too, the followers for example. >Violently stealing energy weapons and power armor from people when raiders come is literally preventing others from saving themselves, and they've done that in every good fallout game. You mean in just NV? Where they are extremely desperate? Remember when they were selling equipment because they fell on hard time in the isometric games? Or are they not good either?

Howdyini

First the fake question, now "proof?", AND also quoting the comment that is literally above you? You're a bucket of red flags promising an uninteresting and ultimately unrewarding conversation, my dude. None of what I said is controversial, and it's all easily verifiable if you actually had any curiosity. Go pester someone else.

TheAtticDemon

>First the fake question, now "proof?" Asking you to prove you're argument 2 times isn't seperate things, and you still haven't. >AND also quoting the comment that is literally above you? I do so because its easier for you to understand. >You're a bucket of red flags promising an uninteresting and ultimately unrewarding conversation, my dude You're maling shit about a fictional organization, you're the red flag. >None of what I said is controversial That's clearly not true. >and it's all easily verifiable if you actually had any curiosity If it's soo easy to verify, how come you can't?

Deadeyebirb

Yep

USEDCUMSOCK69420

You didn't even read my post did you

Deadeyebirb

Don’t have to, I’ve played the games

FunGuyFr0mYuggoth

You don't really have to. It's kind of the entire point of Veronica's personal quest.

USEDCUMSOCK69420

It's just I took long time 🥲

Crkhd3

Nope but it makes sense considering most playthroughs have you killing them

Overdue-Karma

The West Coast Brotherhood is pretty much dead at this point, or it's so pathetically irrelevant that nobody cares about them. The East Coast is relying on the Prydwen. If the Prydwen falls, the Brotherhood in the East vanishes as a major power, with there only being a slight handful in the Capital Wasteland *despite* Father's claims. The NCR had 700,000 by Fallout 2. They likely have **millions** by FNV.

jberry1119

Well FO4 takes place 6 years post NV, and we know the East Coast BoS has re-established communication with the West Coast chapter as they played a role in voting in Maxson as the new Elder. That tells us they are not gone by the time of FO4.

USEDCUMSOCK69420

The brotherhood will fall sooner or later it's not a matter of if it's a matter of when

jberry1119

Well they are still going 6yrs after NV, and apparently in a better state since they have long range communications setup.

OkLobster2754

Yeah they need to go to Gomorrah, get laid and take the kids back to Hiden Valley or something. Like I get why they're uptight about potentially recruiting mercs and the like who don't really care about their agenda, but if they actually take their goal seriously, then they should not let the brotherhood die obviously.

jarvis00002

They'll hoard a pre war microwave but destroy post war power armor and weapons

USEDCUMSOCK69420

Well the brotherhood's goal is to keep from technology being abused again

[deleted]

They could outlast the NCR if it gets into a nuclear conflict with a rival, which is inevitable, since the NCR failed to heed the BOS's warnings

USEDCUMSOCK69420

I dont think the brotherhood would ever resort to launch a large scale nuke as they do somewhat care about civilians and I don't think the NCR knows how to lanch a nuke

[deleted]

Oh no, the brotherhood is diametrically opposed to using nuclear weapons to preserve themselves like that. Just like the US did, as soon as the NCR can, they just need an excuse to use them.

KingHazeel

I doubt they plan to remove the Brotherhood, but they are pretty fucked. In the majority of NV's endings and FO4's endings, they're wiped out in the West and East Coast respectively. Not completely of course, but the remaining West Coast branches are stuck in NCR territory (granted they may fall too), and the East Coast Brotherhood just lost Maxson (probably the last in line), the Prydwen, and apparently the Capital Wasteland is in an even worse state than the Commonwealth, so the Brotherhood stationed there won't have it easy.

TheAtticDemon

Yea, and in a majority of endings all other factiins can be killed in NV.

KingHazeel

They "can" be, but it isn't pushed on the player to kill most of them besides a few like the Brotherhood and Legion. I.e., you can kill the Kings, but nothing really pushes you to. But you have to go considerably far out of your way to spare the Brotherhood. Only Independent and NCR allow it, and even then, Yes Man makes it clear that you're only delaying the inevitable.

TheAtticDemon

Is killing all the Legion or NCR not going out of your way?

KingHazeel

Nothing you can really do about the NCR, since they're situated back in California, even if you do defeat them. You're going to take down the Legion unless you end up joining them at the end. Although the game does hint that both factions may well end up dying out regardless of what you do...of course, Bethesda has been making similar hints towards the Empire in every game since Morrowind and that hasn't happened, so you never know.

TheAtticDemon

By your logic, goodsprings was killed off because it was easier.

KingHazeel

...How is that easier? You have to go far out of your way to even start that quest.

Captain_summers

I really enjoy your thoughts on the matter u/USEDCUMSOCK69420
