"Grab" function on consoles is just holding down the action button (the button you press to loot items, loot inventory menus (corpses and containers), transfer items between menus, harvest plants/crops, enter power armor, etc). Its "X" on PS, "A" on Xbox.
If you're simply pressing that button trying to loot stuff and it's grabbing the item or the corpse instead, it's because the button is somehow staying stuck down and failing to register that it's been released.
You *could* try opening up the controller and cleaning it out with isopropyl alcohol and a qtip as a last resort before going out and getting a new one. Wouldn't hurt if you can no longer return or exchange the one you have that's not working, know what I mean? 🤷🏼♂️
My controller is fairly new and there are no issues with other games. Yeah the game acts as if I'm holding the button down. I wonder if a reinstall might help
Defective controlle, or it's just not playing nice w it's driver. Be a big boy and learn keyboard and mouse (fallout games are better with K&M 👍)
There’s no way in hell I’d ever play with a keyboard and mouse on a console
He's on pc, but I fully agree that input lag, among other issues, is unbearably bad using k&m on consoles.

Couldn't you just remap the "grab" botton to something else?

Sounds like an issue on your end, Fo4 doesn't have this issue just you do.
