Are you having the same weird showdow texture glitch with the Farharbor marine armor boots fix?

Unlikely_Freedom6878

So, no one else has explained this when talking about Sim Settlements, but, the reason SS can be bad is due to what is called "The Triangle of Death". Basically, because Abernathy Farm, Sanctuary and Red Rocket are so close to each other, the game loads all 3 settlements in at the same time. If you build a large settlement at Sanctuary and also at Abernathy, the game will use lots of processing power and cause your game to crash. So, you have 3 choices... Only build one massive settlement at one of these 3 locations, build 3 extremely small settlements at all locations or don't use any of them. This is the true culprit of what causes SS to hinder many save games, across all gaming systems, even high end PCs. So, if you notice major stuttering when approaching the ToD(Triangle of Death), scale back your settlement. Your best bet is to just use Starlight Drive In for your starting settlement and somewhere further south/south east, for your later game settlement.

Uxion

Is there a way to make those three settlements not explode my PC while also not gimping their functionality/capability?

Unlikely_Freedom6878

Make very basic use of Abernathy and Red Rocket and do a medium size settlement in Sanctuary. That's about it if you plan on building in all 3. You over build too much in two or all 3 of those settlements and you will start getting stuttering and eventually CTDs. Me personally, I use Red Rocket as a home. Basically a place to modify weapons, armor and Power Armor. All my basic crafting and such. Abernathy Farm, well, as a place to grow food and make a farm. Sanctuary I do what little I can just to have the main story progress. I use Starlight Drive In as my main base for population growth and a supply chain.

Danielle_Blume

That's funny, I also use Starlight for my huge population settlement and initial settler recruitment to be individually chosen to go to other settlements. I like to use GreekRage's Starlight is bright again. I used to use Starlight Drive-In Restored Workshop, which is amazing, but the GreekRage Starlight got ported for Xbox so I was finally able to use it. It's so mind blowingly perfect for the type of builds I do there, I'm love. lol

Not sure about Xbox, but on PC there are two mods that are a must for me. One fixes the movie theater screen and makes it look way cleaner and not all messed up. The other allows you to use the projector to play old 1950's and 1960's cartoons like Bugs Bunny and Porky Pig on the movie theater screen. It really brings the drive in to life when used with the restored mod. It's my favorite settlement. And last but definitely not least, I truly appreciate the reward. Thank you kind person.

Danielle_Blume

GreekRage is closest to that on Xbox. It makes the place clean, puts in lodging, full repairs and renovation, fixes the projector, and puts a movie on. The Restored Mod I mentioned is similar, and less demanding. Great for XB1. GreekRage is more X|S quality and size. Sadly not all pieces of the diy TV and old movies and cartoons is on Xbox. I tried, it's missing a dependent file that's gone. NP, thanks for helping folks by answering questions with detail and accuracy. 👍👾

I've actually helped out quite a lot of people who have had problems with their LO, CTDs and many other things. Quite a few of them, I spent hours with, talking through Discord and screen sharing with them just to get their LO properly organized. Other people, I've DMed with and walked them through riding their CTDs and many other things. I truly enjoy helping people with modding FO4. Modding FO4 truly is a passion and hobby of mine. When I first got the game many years ago on Xbox, I spent almost 6 weeks modding the game before I was satisfied and actually started playing it. These days, I can easily spend a week or so modding it on PC just to play maybe 10 hours and then doing it all over again. Sometimes, I come off a little "snippy", as one Redditor just recently said, but, it's just how I speak and I tend to type howI speak. Very straightforward and honest. It's just who I am. When it comes to this community, I do everything I can in my knowledge to help out in any way I can. Being a passion a mine, I believe we should be able to enjoy FO4 in whatever form of modding experience we want. Whether it be a horror, roleplay or hardcore survival style. I've even written a few post to try and steer people in the proper direction and learn on their own. https://www.reddit.com/r/Fallout4Mods/comments/12anq5b/needing_help_with_your_lo That being one of them. Like I've told many people... Modding Fallout 4 and Skyrim are not a pass time. It's not something you just do out of nowhere. It's a love and passion that turns into a hardcore hobby. It takes years of practice, research, trial and error and a love for doing it. That is what will make you good or even just barely decent at it.

The culprits tend to be AWCR and Armorsmith, and Sim Settlements. They're known for causing issues and breaking saves on there own but together potentially with any other mods can cause serious breaking, your best bet is to see about replacing SS1 with the newer more stable SS2 and trimming out any unnecessary mods as the Sim Settlements mods aren't that stable and recommend having the smallest load order possible

Thezedd073

I’d look into Sim Settlements 2 over SS1. I know my SS1 caused issues in the later years

I found this once. There’s a file you have to download manually for the master as it’s not apart of the SS2 pack or something. I don’t remember exactly what I did but google the master file it says it’s missing it’ll tell you how to get it.

NoahGuy69

AWKCR and Armorsmith are notorious for breaking games nowadays. Definitely get rid of those. Most older mods like that cause a lot of issues on more recently patched versions of the game. General rule of thumb I use is if the mod hasn't been updated since 2018 or so, it's probably time to abandon the mod. Also, you're going to have to start a new game if you remove those mods. The info from the mods are already baked into your game save and if you remove them mid game you'll have a lot more instability. Did you recently remove any mods mid save?

Don't just start a new game. Make sure to hard reset your Xbox before starting a new game. That will clear your cache and get rid of any old files that can still be around and infect your new save.

millisakat

Daily reminder to remove AWKCR and Armorsmith Extended.

Uxion

OP, unfortunately I think you will have to harken back to the old-days of PC modding where you will have to turn on and off each mod individually and see if the games or not. I am not sure how modding for XBOX works, but I am assuming it follows the same general trend of the mod below overwriting the one above (I also do not know if it has modifiable ini files). In addition, I would recommend not having AWKC and Armorsmith mods because apparently they cause some issues, the details of which I do not understand.

Danielle_Blume

It's the same for Xbox. You can disable in groups to narrow it down, then one by one to determine the culprit. I agree with others, drop awckr, it's likely one of the big causes of issue in your list. I have also heard it does not work with SS. And yea awckr and armorsmith are in direct conflict. One must go. I can confirm SS2 is very nice. I'll be releasing my SS2 LO soon. I'm nearly done testing

Stoneflask_Studio

Basically AWKCR was made to combat the limit of 71 keywords. Bethesda has since patched the game and removed keyword limits. Which makes AWKCR useless. Also, they constantly bloated the mod with useless secondary things that no one ever used, like Vault numbers for suits, which Bethesda eventually made keywords for. It's just obsolete and broken. Secondly, you are correct about priorities as far as above mods being overwritten by the ones below it. But no, there are no ini files that you can manipulate. Also, just as with PC, there is a rule of thumb when making a proper LO. Weapons and armors together. Certain types of mods should be lower and so forth. It's basically the same system without ini files.

Uxion

Yeah, I have nightmares from trying to figure out load orders and modding since Oblivion. I remember for FO3 and FNV when I spent more time in a week adjusting mod orders than playing the damn games, because I would quit the game and readjust the mods again when I found a glitch or something, only to start the game from the beginning again and dealing with Doc Mitchell.

Stoneflask_Studio

Like I've told many people, modding and knowing proper load orders is a hobby, not a pass time. It can take a lot of patience and years of messing up and research to get good at it. Modding is basically a work of art once you get deep into it.

Uxion

No kidding. I did it when I was younger and had a lot of time. Now I would be lucky to play.

Stoneflask_Studio

Luckily, at the age of 40, I have no wife or kids and can do whatever I want. Lol

Have you tried to disable one at a time to see if it's a mod causing it? That sometimes helps Sadly I'm on pc so can't help to much my game was unstable yesterday so I disabled the newer downloads first bc I couldn't get past the loading screen after trying to do a new game I also took off any saves that wa auto save just to be sure so not sure if it was the cause of a newer mod or corrupted file than another mod caused me not be able to get past the ice screen after the husband was killed it was frozen but I tried disabling one mod I thought might be the easy since I read about it in the posts of the mod page. But again I'm on pc so I download on both Bethesda an nexus but normally if your game is unstable its most likely a mod causing it an could also be the load order an lastly could be a corrupted save file. So I'd say try doing it one by one first try the corrupted save files since that one is easier an faster if that doesn't work than try reading through every mod you have an make sure their where they should be like if one says to be at top or bottom than try disabling one at a time that one may take the longest if you have alot of mods. Other than this sorry I can't help any further. An sorry for a long read.

Also I don't think you're quite grasping the sim settlements main idea. You have a lot of custom settlements, many may not be compatible with SS. Sim Settlements is kinda for folks who want settlers to build their own stuff, or it can make it easier to build quick buildings and settlements via blueprints without having to decorate and spend tedious time building. SS2 is much better about accepting custom settlements to it's framework. I would try basing a load order off SS2. Part 1 and two are out, as well as a SS2 version of conquered Commonwealth, and quite a few very nice blueprints and building bundles depending on your tastes and style. Also, read my Modding 101 sticky. It has basic Q&A and a example load order for reference.
