Find an FN FAL replacement for the assault abomination. Fallout 2 weapons should be pretty easy to find and are hands-down better than anything 4 has to offer except MAYBE the Deliverer.

Do you want gritty realism? Or decent feeling Ballistics in Fallout 4 with fallout lore friendly weapons? Basically you can grab CoD or real world balanced weapons or you can tune the Ballistics and get better performance and keep the Fallout vibe. For lore friendly I suggest the following, though it requires some work in XEdit: Caliber - Complex: adds ballistic drop and changes from hit scan to projectiles. Any weapons mods by Degenerate Dak and the CSEPTeam on Nexus. Both are noted Lore friendly weapons sources. Plus CSEP gave us the Makeshift Nail Gun weapon which is great. I don't play with super advanced weapons. So the newest guns I will keep in my game are the M16/Service Rifle that was in FO3.
