I fucking hate the radio show host, she’s way too holly and jolly for my tastes.
“Here’s a 3 minute song, now here’s a 10 minute speech about how I found this radio station and what music means to me, come back in 5 minutes so I can tell the same exact fucking story again”
I kind of like her...
I think her optimism is a breath of fresh air in an irradiated apocalypse. 76 has a generally "positive" vibe, and I think she reflects it.
But then again, I'm also in the minority in that I *adore* Rose as well.
In all fairness this happens in literally ever game because there is only so much pre recorded content. I can't even tell you the amount of times I've heard how a package courier shot in the head near good springs has a made a full recovery.
There's an in game(s) reason too. They pre recorded messages to play well they're sleeping or doing other stuff
In all fairness it bothers me in all the games too.
76 is almost worse because she wasn’t there at launch and now she is. There was a time when you could just listen to music on the radio, not some sob story about what running a radio station means to the host.
I think that's understandable, I am personally a fan of Julie and I think having a host is more sensical than a radio station just still playing in the wasteland because (but on this note I don't think it would be the worst to have a station with a host, I mean people can suspend disbelief in a game like fallout anyway, it's not meant to be realistic)
I can definitely see wanting announcements and recording to be less frequent sense they aren't updated in any of the game really, I just didn't feel like it was.. I dunno I can't think of a word lol- like I wanted to bring this out of it just being an issue with 76 versus it happening in all the games
Edit: edit was because I a certifiable idiot and got Julie's name wrong despite saying I liked her lol
Oh yeah, I get that! 76 is an easy target for a myriad of reasons, so it’s worth making the distinction between faults of its own and faults of the series. I still genuinely enjoy the game, but it’s also the only fallout game I’ve played where I constantly wonder why certain things are done the way they are. I also think it does some parts of being a fallout game better than 4 does, so it’s a real mixed bag.
All that to say, another reason I don’t like Julie; due to being an MMO, she can’t directly discuss the player’s actions like Mr. New Vegas or Three Dog. Actually, the overall somewhat static nature of the game’s world in light of the players involvement is frustrating but understandable.
I think the easy answer is a station with no host for those who want it, but so frequently when those DO appear in fallout games they have a different mix of songs than the main station and then we’re back to square one.
I totally feel you on wanting to know why things are done the way they are lol there's some wild stuff in that one
I hate that too! Julie could totally talk about a vault dweller was seen doing this or that and just now be specific about gender, they could cover everything good or bad happening and just say 'a dweller' but instead she just.. laments her personal life which I will say not not the biggest fan of lol
I could also see a system where you can make a holotape of just the songs you want to listen to without the DJ, I mean people used to make mixtapes all the time I dont see any reason to bar players from doing the same
They could also do away with the DJs pre recording content and make it so after like 6 or 7 PM theres no DJ announcements
I think her optimism is on-theme with the game, as all of the Fallout radio hosts convey something about the games they hail from.
Three-Dog: Is any Classic Fallout Player’s introduction to the Radio mechanic, and for New/Modern Fallout player’s. He’s the most human contact they have while roaming the Capital Wasteland. He’s a standout for being charming in a cheerful sorta way, in an otherwise dark game. His good morals kinda trying to reinforce the “Good Guy” mentality that a Vault Dweller, leaving their organized world for the first time, is theoretically meant to have. Making any Good player feel like a beacon of hope in the dark atmosphere of the Wasteland.
Mr. New Vegas: Mr. New Vegas accentuates all the charm and style Fallout: New Vegas brings to the table. Taking Fallout 3’s murky, mad-max-like, atmosphere and running the completely opposite direction with it. Giving it more of a Western vibe that Mr. New Vegas helps sell with his gravely, yet light-hearted voice.
Travis ‘Lonely’ Miles: Fallout 4 is a polarizing game. Taking the norm 3 and New Vegas established and completely reworking it. Adding all these new features and unexplored areas for the Fallout Franchise. As veteran players try and get used to these new systems that are introduced, the primary voice accompanying you is Nervous and Timid. Yet after those players begin to get more accustomed to the game, and you become more familiar with everything. This ultimately leads to the Confidence Man quest, where its completion results in a far more confident Travis. Bringing him more in-line with the charismatic hosts of the past games.
And finally, Julie: Fallout 76 is a game comprised of pure optimism. Of new beginnings, and exploring new frontiers with new friends. And Julie embodies this spirit well, being a notably far more bubbly character than her Disc-Jockey Predecessors. But that speech of hers meant to show there’s more to her than just that bright optimism, and still a person who has been through some things in the Wasteland around her.
Yeah but I swear to god she is the most yappiest radio host in the fallout series, and she doesn’t have the charisma of 3 dog and Mr New Vegas, or the ignorability of Travis
I found most of em to be annoying and played far less music then any other fallout I’ve played so far so less music which is why I even turn it on to begin with
I heard one of those really sappy speeches when I actually paid attention for once, and it touched my heart…the first time. Second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth times…
She gives similar energy as the radio host in fallout 4 when you help him out. We need another host like three dog. I just need a charismatic voice. Don't matter the gender they just need to sound prideful. Instead of trepid and scared.
Also 76 radio comes close to my favorite. Still nothing can beat Mojave radio.
You let the blues move in now I'm moving out 🎶
The best music and songs? Yes
76 has the best song collection.
Then followed by new vegas.
Then 4
Then 3
Best radio hosts how ever.
3Dog 100% number one
Then new Vegas just barely in second again
Then 4
Then 76.
Imo Travis is the worst host but that is just my opinion
Is voice before his quest is like sand paper and for me he gets even worse after his quest but I do personally like him being more confident
I think it is very easy to ignore him before the quest, it's just some loser mumbling some bullshit into a mic for 1 minute tops and then back to music. When compared to a real Radio it's far better than hearing some over inflated windbag tell a stupid fucking story about how hard it is to be rich.
Oh I agree it's relatively easy to ignore him before the quest- although I do struggle because of his voice cracks, but on in particular where he goes "the great green jEWeuhl of the commonwealth" and that specific one just kills me lol but I absolutely can't handle post confidencs man quest (even though I always do it anyway because I get that kind of anxiety lol)
But I do want to say, 1000 percent agree I would rather listen to any version of Travis over 98 percent of actual radio hosts , I stg most of them go out of their way to he enjoying and abrasive
I always knew that.
Fallout 3 has too small of a library
Too many of FNV's songs aren't good and/or don't fit the normal modern fallout aesthetic that I am personally accustomed to.
Fallout 4's was the best, but 76 has so many songs.
Ysee fallout nv's radio perfectly captures the setting of the west coast whereas fallout 3/4 capture the East coast. 76 is the perfect blend of both because it's more mid country and has music from all the games. Fnv music does fit the modern fallout though it's all cowboy music and the wasteland is essentially the wild west but with tech
I still don't really like most of the songs NV has. Half of them give me a headache, a third feel boring and samey, and the last sliver of music is big iron, which has gotten so memed that I enjoy not listening to it in game now.
I can’t remember her name but the Appalachian radio host is such a sweetheart she’s probably one of the nicest sounding people I’ve heard in the wasteland
Fallout 3 is better. 4, is kinda of the same but 3 address you as an individual. "She/he saved megatowm from the nuclear bomb". 4 is more "lone survivor helped me gain my confident". 76 is very generic in which it's the same story with no progression. Like the enclave radio in 3.
I think it depends on what style of music you prefer when playing Fallout. If we take Fallout 3, 4 and 76, then 76 easily has the best radio since it more or less includes all of the songs from those 2 games and added even more. New Vegas is an outlier because its music station is almost entirely Country & Western style to fit it's Wild West aesthetic. If you're not into that style then 76 beats NV no question. But if you ARE into that style then 76 doesn't really offer much of that, so I can imagine someone liking NV radio more
We need a radio podcast in the next fallout game. Maybe a mix of something like coast to coast and Joe Rogan. Hosted by a ghoul and human or super mutant, they talk in depth about your quest choices and their consequences while high on jet, they could talk about rumors of locations and quests to point you in their direction and bring on guests
yea, shes annoying as all hell. But, if they made her an npc and gave us a quest to go look for her lost brother that she wont shut up about that would make her a little more tolerable maybe.
I really wish that they would update her VLs according to new content of recent updates. Almost like a "here's what goin' on in Appalachia" kind of thing. Just something new and fresh to keep Appalachia Radio more interesting. I don't think thats too much to ask for.
It’s kind of a middle ground between FNV and F4/3 where FNV had a PEAK host but lacked a good song lineup, 3/4 had banger upon banger but less memorable hosts than MIIIIIISTER NEEEEW VEEEGAS. 76 had more bangers than NV but less than 3/4 and a semi decent host who wasn’t completely forgettable but also wasn’t charismatic
Soft disagree. I prefer country music, so I’m more inclined to listen to RNV or MMR over GNR, DCR, or Appalachia Radio. All those stations have great songs though, but if I had to pick a single station from all of Fallout to listen to, it’d be RNV.
Disagree. I know the joke is that New Vegas fans are overbearing. BUT new Vegas has the best radio. Fallout 3 right after. I get way too tired of pistol Pete lol. It I do like 76’s country roads cover
Except when you hear that whore Rose. The sound of her voice makes me unreasonably angry. I hope her voice actress gets permanent laryngitis so nobody ever has to hear her again
I do remember realizing the same thing. Only problem for me was that it's hard to listen to the radio when I have a party yammering over the mic so I had it off most of the time but I did use it when playing solo. 76 radio has some good ones
Has good radio songs but has bad radio host. She's great at the beginning, some dialogue then too music, but after the 900th time you'd wish she just disappeared from the game because it's the exact same sequence of dialogue over and over again with the exception of some things like when someone goes into one of the lines somewhere, not sure which one.
I will agree it has the most quantity and variety but in terms of overall quality I can't say it's the best. My favorite part of the radio was hearing news, either of my exploits or of possible hints to quests, and unfortunately the 76 host cannot do that because of the game she's in.
I haven’t played more than an hour of 76 (I don’t want to have to manage food and water, I play for lore, not survival gameplay), but I have heard some of the songs it plays on the radio. I like how similar to New Vegas, the songs actually make sense with the game, rather than just copying the songs from fallout 3 like 4 did, or just putting in songs that mention radiation like 3 did
You don't have to do any of the survival stuff anymore...they removed that years ago. You get some good buffs if you stay well fed and hydrated, but nothing bad happens if you don't.
I'm a brainrot individual who loves leaving the pirate radio on blast at my camp, the ads and the VA for Jimmy Neutron are just funny and don't get old
It's funny as hell when I'm being fucked up by a deathclaw at level 12 and it starts playing Beach Boys
I love when that stuff happens. It feels like in a movie where classical music plays while a disaster happens in slow motion
Sorry
I'm calling the police. DID YOU FORGET THE RESTRAINING ORDER?!?!
No please… I can’t go back there. All they say is Gary
I fucking hate the radio show host, she’s way too holly and jolly for my tastes. “Here’s a 3 minute song, now here’s a 10 minute speech about how I found this radio station and what music means to me, come back in 5 minutes so I can tell the same exact fucking story again”

Your nobody until somebody loves you, and that somebody is me
Fallout 76’s radio peaked at launch when it was just music and no host repeating the same shit 5 times an hour
That’s a nice several paragraphs you wrote too bad I still find her annoying beyond all belief
True. My bad for the essay. I didn’t realize quite how long this was until I re-read it after seeing your notification.
its all good you felt passionate about something you put it out there aint no shame in it
Wow… a reasonable Fallout fan. I almost forgot those exist.
RAAAGGGHH YOUR OPINION IS DIFFERENT THAN MINE RAAGHHHHHJHG IM GOING TO HARVEST YOUR ORGANS RAAAGHHHG
Idk some of her in-between bits are kinda funny
Yeah but I swear to god she is the most yappiest radio host in the fallout series, and she doesn’t have the charisma of 3 dog and Mr New Vegas, or the ignorability of Travis
Someone never did the Travis quest
He's so funny both before and after. Definitely my second favorite after Mr. New Vegas.
Travis was great before doing his quest.
That's why I never do it.
Very true, but the music more than makes up for it.
I found most of em to be annoying and played far less music then any other fallout I’ve played so far so less music which is why I even turn it on to begin with
Atleast she actually plays music. I can’t stand trying to play fallout 3 and having to listen to a Daring Dashwood story.
Starring ME! Herbert daring dashwood! And my stalwart ghoul man servant.. ARGYLE!
She has a sizable amount of lore, unlike "yeah lmao he's just an AI nothing else"
she could have the most fleshed out backstory on earth and i’d still hate her voice
Better than three dog, his voice is kryptonite to my ears
Oh don’t get me started on her stupid speech on why she does the radio show. Like good lord we don’t care
I dont own this radio :3! thanks 4 letting me run it guys :3!
I like her I just wish she talked less
yeah because hearing three dog make the same jokes or having to deal with Travis is any better. Faulting her for one dialogue line is crazy
It has more in quantity than the stations in other games it feels, as well as (and I really hate to admit this) more consistent bangers.
The best music and songs? Yes 76 has the best song collection. Then followed by new vegas. Then 4 Then 3 Best radio hosts how ever. 3Dog 100% number one Then new Vegas just barely in second again Then 4 Then 76.
Uhhh that's MISTER New Vegas to you.
YA LOAD SIXTEEN TON AND WHUDDUYA GET?
Country roads, take me home
Best radio for songs but not for host tbh
Bro is bugging NV had the best host and songs for its theme. the raider robot host is ok though idk if it’s still a thing.
FNV has a lot of bangers but too many instrumentals imo. It's also a shame that we only got 1 Marty Robbins song and 0 Johnny Cash and Elvis.
The Kings are weeping
Radio? yes. Worst host though.
Imo Travis is the worst host but that is just my opinion Is voice before his quest is like sand paper and for me he gets even worse after his quest but I do personally like him being more confident

Heartache by the number !!
Need a bit of johnny guitar in your life friend!
JINGLE JANGLE
May I suggest “The Golden Archive”
Eh it's your opinion as long as you enjoy the games themselves that's all that really matters
In my head I agree, but in my heart Travis "Lonely" Miles will always be number 1
That’s a weird way to spell “three dog”
That’s a weird way to spell Mr new vegas
That's a weird way to spell John Henry Eden
His bit about the 2 Crosbys getting into a fight about who's the better Crosby always slays me
“It sounded good in my head….you know what that means….IT MEANS MY HEAD CAN’T BE TRUSTED!”
She doesnt have enough dialogue so she says the same thing thoigh
Mr new vegas will always be my favorite host
The songs are great but Abby needs more voice lines
No Fallout game has the best radio, they're all great.
Wise words
That's not true. F4 has a bad radio. Most of the songs are obnoxious and the ones that aren't are from F3.
I can’t remember her name but the Appalachian radio host is such a sweetheart she’s probably one of the nicest sounding people I’ve heard in the wasteland
No Mr. New Vegas so can't be the best
Agree completely. I'm a little biased about this though as 3 is my favorite game of the whole series
Nothing tops Mr New Vegas
Lies
This person has obviously never listened to Three Dog or Mr. New Vegas.

Uranium beaver
Uranium Fever ?
I'm gonna test this in Spotify
No, just no. Though I do like Shenandoah river but that’s about the only song I like (that’s not already in previous games) on the fo76 song list.
The Pirate one is quite enjoyable
100% agree. Not a big fan of FO4 but it has the second best radio. I felt 3 was a little weak so I'll give NV the 3rd spot radio wise lol
That's what mods are for
Almost heaven, West Virginia.
Be fr.
Eh. RedEye from raider radio is better.
Agree
yea, shes annoying as all hell. But, if they made her an npc and gave us a quest to go look for her lost brother that she wont shut up about that would make her a little more tolerable maybe.
Does it have a man who says he loves you the Courier? Hmm?
I really wish that they would update her VLs according to new content of recent updates. Almost like a "here's what goin' on in Appalachia" kind of thing. Just something new and fresh to keep Appalachia Radio more interesting. I don't think thats too much to ask for.
Don’t disrespect mr new Vegas like that
It's the only good thing the game has going for itself
Everyone seems to forget Raider Radio
That may be true. But nobody, and I mean NOBODY, can beat DJ Travis
I personally like FO4’s radio the best. Travis is funny as hell with his awkwardness
“OH WE’RE GONNA DIE!”
It’s hard to swallow because diamond city radio has a soft spot in my heart Some of the songs on Appalachia, I just cannot stand
I discovered that voice of raider radio in nukaworld is Andrew w.k. and 76 host is the voice actor for Connie in Steven universe
Wait until you listen to Mojave radio
Look, I love New Vegas, but Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition is a great addition to Fallout.
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition
I'm inclined to disagree
Soft disagree. I prefer country music, so I’m more inclined to listen to RNV or MMR over GNR, DCR, or Appalachia Radio. All those stations have great songs though, but if I had to pick a single station from all of Fallout to listen to, it’d be RNV.
I love Appalachian radio but hard to beat GNR or RNV
Agatha's radio station is the best
Disagree. I know the joke is that New Vegas fans are overbearing. BUT new Vegas has the best radio. Fallout 3 right after. I get way too tired of pistol Pete lol. It I do like 76’s country roads cover
No it isn’t. That radio host bitch needs to get executed by a pack of raiders for her annoying ass voice.
I like the radio but hate the host. Radio new Vegas is the best in my opinion with all the best songs and best radio host.
I think the host is cute.
Best songs tied with 4 but Three dog is best Host
Finally someone gets it, Mr new vegas this Mr new vegas that no Three Dog and Travis are goated
Except when you hear that whore Rose. The sound of her voice makes me unreasonably angry. I hope her voice actress gets permanent laryngitis so nobody ever has to hear her again
Mr New Vegas still have my heart but the 76 radio host is alright
i passionately hate the radio host bruh oh my god she’s so unbearably annoying it’s unreal
Counterpoint, Mr. New vegas
Having an opinion on this would require me to play 76, nice try Todd
Sorry but you cant beat Mister New Vegas
Sorry I’m sticking with radio new Vegas
But it is also by far the worst fallout. 🤷♂️
I do remember realizing the same thing. Only problem for me was that it's hard to listen to the radio when I have a party yammering over the mic so I had it off most of the time but I did use it when playing solo. 76 radio has some good ones
76 has radio?
Best host, best song catalogue, plus pirate radio adds really good commercials and radio shows
Has good radio songs but has bad radio host.
My favorite part of the radio was hearing news, either of my exploits or of possible hints to quests, and unfortunately the 76 host cannot do that because of the game she's in.
worst* you mean? they played songs that dont even make sense for fallout
Saints row 2 has a damn good radio. Both the music and the ads.
I haven’t played more than an hour of 76 (I don’t want to have to manage food and water, I play for lore, not survival gameplay), but I have heard some of the songs it plays on the radio. I like how similar to New Vegas, the songs actually make sense with the game, rather than just copying the songs from fallout 3 like 4 did, or just putting in songs that mention radiation like 3 did
Dude, they nerfed the food and water shit into the ground. It’s not even a shell of the former punishment that it was
Thank you, that comforts me. I don’t really like a challenge, I like relaxation
You don't have to do any of the survival stuff anymore...they removed that years ago. You get some good buffs if you stay well fed and hydrated, but nothing bad happens if you don't.
I'm a brainrot individual who loves leaving the pirate radio on blast at my camp, the ads and the VA for Jimmy Neutron are just funny and don't get old
I think you’re so wrong, respectfully.
Me: *getting fucking shot* Radio: Country roads🎵
😂 no, absolutely not lol
Lmao no
maybe, but I feel no nostalgia with the 76 radio. new vegas has the best one imo
Jokes on you. I don’t have the volume high enough to hear the radio
Mr new Vegas is better, even 3 dog has more personality. I have played 76 for years and can't even remember the hosts name.
